Very interesting. What a responsible person he’s been all his life with a good head on his shoulders. I have been watching My Three Sons on Prime because I watched it as a kid. I was born in 59 so the show was a bit ahead of me. It’s so hard to find anything to watch that doesn’t have sexual promiscuity in it or lots of cursing. Or even the fact that everything has sexual innuendo in it. The show it’s heartwarming and funny. My husband and I will crack up at so much on the show.

MTS had musicians on the show. Micky Dolenz of the Monkees had an episode, and so did Jeremy Clyde of Chad and Jeremy. I wonder if the cast played a lot off set. Ronnie Troup's father was the late Bobby Troup of Emergency. He was a jazz musician who wrote Route 66. A whole q and a about the music background would be fun.

I enjoyed this interview very much. Stanley comes across as very down to earth and very likable person. Very nice and very straightforward in his responses. Stanley mentioned about how there had been an interest by a producer ( I think it was), to have a program with three daughters instead of three sons but of course that never happened. Actually, I am curious about that. There were all the programs in those years, late 50's, into the 60's, where the starring child or teen actors were mostly boys, Jon Provost in "Lassie", "My Thee Sons" "Ozzie & Harriet", "Dennis the Menace" "Circus Boy" are the programs that come to mind.. Yes, there was "Father knows Best" with one little girl, one teen girl and one teen boy, but just wondered why there were not more TV shows (in the 1950's and into early/mid 60's) with just girls? I know there was "Gidget" later, but I am referring mostly to the late 50's and early 60's time period where there didn't seem to be many girls starring in TV programs. Maybe Stan knows the answer to that one?
@deepseadirt1 Жыл бұрын
I saw Barry Livingston's great interview on Foundation Interviews a few years ago and always wondered what happened to Stanley Livingston. It's great to see Stanley in this interview. In the early days of cable M3S(b&w episodes) and M3S(color episodes) would always be on Family Channel. I occasionally watch Beverly Garland in movie as she had a substantial movie career before joining the show. Great reminiscences about the cast members and peace be to Stanley.

Beginning in 1946, there was a yearly Christmas Lane parade in Huntington Park, CA. Pat Boone later became the Grand Marshall and it was televised. When I was a little girl, I had a crush on “Chip” from ‘My Three Sons’ (who was 8 years older) and during the Christmas parade, I ran up to the convertible car where Fred MacMurray (Steven Douglas), Don Grady (Robbie Douglas), Stanley Livingston (Chip) and Barry Livingston (Ernie) were in. I was able to shake hands with Barry who was sitting on the outer edge.

@@kelshep That would be great to hear. One thing you can tell about either of the brothers is, they are so humble. So many actors ‘name drop’ and sound so arrogant, but the two of them have worked with soooo many legends since they were 4 or 5 years old and were taught more than just ‘acting’ from them, but humility and character. Unlike the ones today that are so unlikable.

They actually do, but Barry's glasses hid the resemblance a lot. Whenever Ernie would take off his glasses, you could see it. Such as in Barry's first appearance on the show in the episode My Friend Ernie. Chip and Ernie are having a sleepover, and we briefly see them sleeping peacefully in bed towards the end, so of course Barry isn't wearing his glasses.

My favorite memory is when Chip was marrying Polly, there was a flashback of 6 year old Stanley doing a scene with Fred where Chip spoke of not liking girls with “their goo-goo eyes”.
