Love your creativity with your space. I am in the process of setting up my tiny sewing space. I am.retired, renting, and have the corner of my guest bedroom or my vet large walk in closet. Pros for the closest is that there are two doors and when I have guests I can just close the doors. The con is no window! I had dismissed the closest until I saw your video.

Obviously, I am pro-closet. I think it is good to be able to close the doors also for my sanity, so it's a separate messy-ish space.

Thank you. The table it is then. The floor is out of the question because I am too old and infirm to be on the floor. I could get don there but couldn't get back up. Lol. Are you staying in Texas? Best Wishes with your move and in your new place.

Can’t wait to see how you get everything organized in the new space. I really like how you’ve repurposed storage solutions originally made for tools and such. And those rattan bags are adorable.

That chair looks comfy! Definitely an upgrade my sewing space needs. Love the fabric your top is made from. And, I love how the sewing space is a cozy nook for multiple interests. Can't wait to see how you organize the next spot.

I love seeing the way other people use their spaces, and how they store and organize things. Being fairly new to sewing, I don't have a lot of things to store yet, but I'm definitely accumulating some bits and pieces. Another sewist mentioned a tackle box that she uses for lots of small things, and I loved that. I got one for myself, and I was surprised how much I had to go in there already. Still room to grow, so it's great for now, and really portable. My sewing stuff is on what we still refer too as the dining room table, though I couldn't tell you when it was last in the dining room or was used for eating. I've also got a beading hobby, and most of my beading things are in a roller cart with 20 shallow draws. I could see getting something like it for my sewing supplies. Because my crafting space is in a communal area, it really helps to be able to just roll it into another room when we'd like it to not look quite so much like a work area.

Sounds an exercise in managing small things for sure between both hobbies! I still cut on my dining room table because it still makes the most sense, so being able to transport things around without losing anything is super important.

Really great use of space here. I don't keep many scraps anymore but when I did, I kept them by approximate size , so like 9x12 and 10x13 would be together in a pile, then larger would be in another pile, and smaller in another stack, then I organized each stack by color, lightest to darkest, and I wrapped the stacks with a ribbon. This space is great, well organized and lovely things. Love the repurposed candy dish. We had one like that when I was a kid! ❤

Thanks! That actually sounds like a great way of organizing scraps, because I think I have basically everything up to a yard; it would certainly make finding pocket pieces a lot faster!

I have a Rocketeer too! Such a great machine! What I use for a scraps container of sorts is a plastic multi drawer on wheels I bought at Michaels. Every drawer is a separate colour (I need to label the drawers ha!) that works well for me…anyhow you seem to have quite a bit of scraps so maybe something along those lines with bigger drawers when you move to a bigger space? Loved seeing your sewing space! Some really great storage ideas. Love the Craftsman organizer will check that out!

An idea for knit scraps... make new fabric the way quilters do. As long as the weight is similar, pick up any two pieces and sew a seam. Cut off excess, grab another piece and repeat. Occassionally lay a scrap over another for dimension or to build up a lighter weight fabric area. I have made a few very interesting sweatshirts like this and am now thinking of the coraline (I think that's the right name)full skirt made of offcuts and scraps. Anytime you have the serger out, or a ballpoint needle in your machine, sew a few scraps together until there is enough for a pattern piece. Some may need a lining for comfort but top stitching both sides of most seams add interest and flatten seams. Again, any thread end of reel will work. Stops that wastage too

I've always admired how organized your space is in the background of your videos. Effective small space use is an awesome ability. I have No designated sewing space, so when I'm sewing my stuff is all over my dining room, then I pack it all back up for dinner time. It can be exhausting, but it's working with what I have, and It Works for me. Also, Adam Savage is so interesting. I watch him all the time, and I will absolutely check out his book. Thanks for sharing your space and yourself. You are awesome, I've learned a great deal from you, thank you. Good luck with your move.

I can confirm, the pouf is an excellent place to put scraps. As a bonus - you can still fish a scrap back out if you decide you have a use for it after all! I love my pouf 💙

And for spool storage maybe check out a multi-tier towel rack. The kinda cheapo ones let you remove dowels individually, which makes it easier to slide spools on and off.

Your space reminds me of sewing closet I once had. Though mine wasn't nearly as big. And yours is better because you have a window. Your small drawers are very timely because I just got a set with 9 drawers that I've put some of my button stash. Mood Fabric sold bags of assorted buttons in, I think, 5 pound bags. It's been so long since I bought one. I've have had them in portion size zipper bags, sorted by size, and stored a plastic shoebox size container. But then my niece went through looking for some buttons and got the bags all mixed up. I've filled all the drawers and am waiting to get another set in the next month or so. And then the storage of your patterns in the magazine boxes is genius. BTW, are the plastic sleeves you've put the patterns in page protectors?? You didn't say and I had a hard time seeing them. I hope your move goes well and your sewing room is arranged just right for you. I'm just beginning to pack up to move, too. Moving has become more of a chore for me instead of the grand adventure it was when I was in my 30s. (I'm almost 70.) Good luck.

Honestly, unpacking and getting everything organized is very overwhelming and less like a grand adventure, but I am trying to make the best of it and taking my time setting up my new space. The folders are A4 size plastic file folders, basically like giant plastic envelopes with a snap on them. I got the idea from @sewnaturaldane. I do have them linked, but apparently its for Canada :( but at least you could see.

I usually cut out on my dining room table or the living room floor. I tend to try and do it in batches and then put it in bags to take over to the sewing closet.

Hi there. I'm a first time viewer and enjoyed seeing your sewing space. You've really organized it well! I'm a fellow Canadian and, since we are known as being friendly people, I thought I'd pass on the name of a KZbin channel that you might be interested in for organizing ideas on a budget - The Crafty Organizer. I really like her because she takes everyday items and thinks outside of the box to turn them into storage to suit her needs. I thought of one project, in particular, that she did for ribbon storage which might work for your larger spools but she has lots of other great projects on her channel as well. Hope this helps! 🇨🇦
