Jen, I’m so appreciative of all your effort to explain why one product looks great on you and another product, not so much. And, please, keep stressing the differences when it comes to blush v. bronzer v. contour. Too many “influencers” are totally clueless and should know better. They act as if it is the product’s fault when it doesn’t suit them from the standpoint of color or where they’ve placed it. You, on the other hand, know how to use those different types of products and can clearly articulate why you think something suits you or doesn’t suit you. Because I understand my skin’s undertone and what best suits me, your explanations and swatches make it easy for me to figure out whether or not I should go and check out a particular product. Being from Australia, a Bronzer wasn't ever really necessary, except for those who required it to give some warmth to the skin. I'm 50+ and have only required it on a few occassions after being seriously ill and I was looking far too pale and required some warmth to my sickly-looking skin-tone. You're quite correct, all these so-called 'influencers' who haven't a clue what they are doing, all copy each other without researching from those who actually know how it's used. Hardly a day goes past where I haven't seen yet another use bronzer as a contour, ending with a big brown stripe across the forehead and placing it in all the wrong spots for their facial shape. I recently watched Pat McGrath do a Live Chat on her KZbin Channel when she launched her Bronzer Range. There were several models of different complexions and other MUA's who applied whilst Pat did the commentary. It was magical to see how naturally blended the bronzer was applied and not just with one shade either. There wasn't a stripe across the forehead, a line up each cheekbone where contour usually goes, heavy lines under the jawline - again where contour is applied. The product did exactly what it was meant to - Bronze! I grew up learning make-up techniques from magazines and observing models. These were the times that they explained how to apply products to adapt to your facial features, not a 'one-size fits all' approach which is all we see now from the inexperienced on social media. I'm just glad I learnt the way I did. Considering I still receive the odd compliment, I must be doing something right.💖

Hi Jennifer! Great roundup! Terra is indeed the perfect bronzer shade for you (it’s the only swatch that perfectly matches the freckles on your arm). My favorite has been Gucci’s - in winter I use shade 1 and in summer, I use shade 2, which is even cooler than 1 even though it’s deeper. Of course, I am now super tempted to get the TF in Terra. I love the Chantecaille bronzer. I have it in Sirena and it works beautifully on my skin tone. I confirmed with Chantecaille that the new bronzer in the summer collection is Sirena just in limited edition packaging.

I was excited to see this video because I have the same taste in bronzers and I wasn't disappointed! Terra and Gucci no. 1 are my top two as well. I would rank Victoria Becham in my top ten though. This is wonderful! Thank you for creating this video! I also have a light skintone and am cool toned, I've found bronzer really difficult because it's almost always super warm toned. The best bronzers i've found and my fav bronzers to wear are Gucci 01 Fair (I love the cool toned and slightly pink hue), and Westman Atelier Biscuit for cream bronzer. I was considering buying the new Jones Road Dusty Rose bronzer, and I'm super happy you made this video so I can make an informed decision.

I love this list (so much that I've saved it). Although we have different undertones, I'm warm, I really enjoyed hearing about the varied textures and finishes ... And this is a VERY thorough video, thank you 😊 I did debate getting the Hermes bronzer (shade 2) but just couldn't justify the price, that said, it looks lovely on the skin. Hi Jennifer! Yes, that Terra bronzer does look amazing on you! I really like that tone of the Gucci bronzer, too… I picked up the NARS bronzer in 01 but now wish I would have gotten it in 00- I was in store and didnt’ see that shade in store. I’m fair like you but with more neutral /warm undertones and so like a real neutral bronze with a touch of rosiness to it.. sometimes i mix my blush with my bronzer because it looks really pretty. Hello! A couple of years ago I integrated the bronzer to my makeup kit, it seemed difficult to find the ideal undertone and texture for me. Once this is discovered, what a beautiful appearance it leaves on the skin!

Great video. I've had my eye on the Tom Ford for years. I'm still going through an older Guerlain bronzer as I'm very pale. Love your earrings! Reminds me to ask: remember years ago when Chanel came out with Notorious? An early contour and I don't think people knew what to do with it. Wish they'd bring it back.

Wonderful video! I prefer cool toned bronzers, too, because warmer bronzers can go orange on me. Both Tom Ford and Gucci are my favorites, though I’ll occasionally use Sisley. I’m happy to learn about the Mac shades, as well as the Dior. I’ve checked out the Chanel, which is too warm on me…sad. Thanks again. So very interesting.

You introduced me to the Terra and I picked it up and enjoy it. Thank you! Also am enjoying the Jones Road Dusty Rose, although I’ll accept that it’s not a traditional bronzer. I sometimes use Chanel Eclat du Desert highlighting powder, which gives me a healthy glow. Now discontinued but I have a stock. My treasure is the 2019 La Mer limited edition bronzer. It did for me what the Tom Ford did for you when first applied. Was a wow. And I bought up a supply and will be my #1 until I run out. 😁

I'm afraid that Bronzer isn't a product that has been required as part of my make-up collection. As I have a very small face, I do not need contour and my facial skin-tone is the same as my neck/decollatage, hence no need to make my face any deeper in colour. The only times I've ever needed a Bronzer was after being very ill and I was looking as if I hadn't seen the sun in years. I used it simply to give my face some warmth and colour to it, that sun-kissed appearance. Those of us at the 50ish age mark didn't grow up using bronzer, especially in Australia. Despite having a pale complexion, it's simply a product that isn't needed except for a few rare occasions.🇦🇺💖🕊

I just checked and the one department store in Canada that sells TF has just listed the bronzer! So I can finally purchase it. Sephora in Canada sells some TF products but not the bronzers.

I tend to be pale in the winter due to lack of sun. I don’t tan, by that I mean, I turn light/fair olive/alive. Getting to medium means I need to spend a huge amount of time out in the sun. I just don’t tan. I do not burn. My bronzers are Terracotta and Sisley. I forgot to say I have warm undertone.

Although I haven't seen it in person the Jones Road Dusty Rose reminds me of that terrific Bobbi Brown Illuminating Bronzer in the shade Antigua, which also walked the line between sunburnt bronzer and subtle blush. For fair skin, Antigua was brilliant. Now apparently discontinued, so I might have to try Jones Road instead.

There is something nostalgic about having that one product that you feel is "your" product, as it seems the Terra bronzer is for you. I like that feeling. I have it with my Dior bronzer. I also used not to go with bronzer, but then I started appreciating the power it can have: it can make a person just look "put together" with very little effort, even when not wearing a full face of make up. If I were you, I would contact MAC about the bronzers: I don't think I would feel safe using them, since there is no way of telling what the film on top was and if it messed with the product as a whole.

I would agree with a lot of these, except for the Mac ones. I also think the Sisley is great for a super bronzy look. I agree the Gucci bronzer is great. I just bought the nars cream one which is more orange than the Charlotte tilbury cream bronzer, which is quite contour-y

Thank you for this video. I am fair with cool undertone, when I “tan”, I get red, and to “fake” a tan simply looks too muddy, yellow or orange on me. I am in constant search for the perfect neutral leaning cool tone bronzer. Most bronzers on the market are way too warm, too dark or too ashy/contour-y for me. I want slight warm, slight pink and buildable. Is it too much to ask? Lol This list is so helpful! Gucci and Tom Ford resonate better with the aesthetic that I look for. I like the Chantecaille formula, but the color would not work for me.

I like warm bronzers but they need to be a little peachy. Naked Bronze is pretty good on me. Nude Honey is too neutral. If a bronzer has an olive or strong yellow shade it won’t work. I struggle sometimes with sallowness so yellow can be 💀 if it leans even a little olive. I can also wear and love the Gucci fair. I’m not currently tan but when I lived in Florida I was darker and my version of a tan (is a joke, but) is peachy/red.

Wonderful video and love to see all your favorites swatched. I am patiently waiting for the new Nars formula in 00 to come to Australia. My current favourites are Slip from Em Cosmetics, Goa from Chantecaille that I can only wear in Summer. I recently picked up the Victoria Beckham 02 shade. Hopefully that works for me. I have fomo on the PML bronzer but unfortunately that formula disappears from my skin after a couple hours

This is 5 months later (Oct 2023) and I live in Australia as well but currently in Canada. I have been wearing Nars Vallarta but they discontinued and apparently the closest is Nars 00 so I bought it the other day however the colour is deeper and not as neutral as Vallarta, very disappointing. I wouldn’t get excited about this shade and think I will buy Gucci (on her swatched arm it looks the neutral cool undertone that Vallarta was) - interesting to see when I get back if Nars 00 is there.

I only use 2 bronzers and they're your top two. I'm pale neutral leaning slightly warm. Based on your observations, you would think Terra would look better but I find it looks more neutral and slightly darker on me that the Gucci #1. I hit pan on my first Terra and bought a replacement and have now hit pan on the Gucci. I thought maybe I would try the Hermes but I saw the colors in person and actually had shades one and two applied. One was almost invisible and 2 was way too yellow. My only other bronzer is a mini of Hourglass Diffused Light which looks oddly red rather than bronze on me. I should discard it.

I would be interested in where you would put the Charlotte Tilbury Filmstar bronzer? I saw swatches online of the Tom Ford Terra bronzer and the CT bronzer and they looked to be about the same tone/color. I, obviously, don't own either one of them, but I would be interested to know how similar they really are. Loved hearing your thoughts on bronzers! If it's one weak spot I have, it's bronzers!!

This is a great video thank you! I have 4 bronzers (up from having 2 a few months ago). My favorite is the Hourglass Ambient Light Bronzer but for work it’s too much, so I love the Pat M lightest shade for work and I am never worried if I look like I’m wearing too much makeup with that one. I have had the Nars Laguna from a Sephora birthday gift and I just don’t love it on me. It’s not special and maybe isn’t the right shade (I’m unclear on that). I bought the Jones Road Tan bc that was my color match but I do think it’s too warm for me at the moment. Maybe in the summer it’ll be perfect bc I do tan. I like that formula a lot but there is a lot of pick up so I’m always having to wipe down my sink after. I’m very tempted in the newest Chantecaille, but will go to the store to swatch first. 💕

I do have shade 3 of the Hermes, & I’m a light medium and it works for me. I was laughing because shade 2 looks like straight up baby poop color, hahaha! Yeah, that’s got some yellow, maybe it ate some mashed peas too…

Our skin tones are totally different (in Chanel I'm bd31 or bd 41 summer) but my daughtt tryst has your coloring. I to love TFTerra(mine looks just like yours and I have been afraid it would be discontinued). Also the Gucci formula is beautiful. I'm curious if you have tried the Sisley photo touch bronzer. It is not overly pigmented but quite luminous on my mature 63 year old skin but I find it to be gorgeous. Reminds me of a bit of the hourglass bronzers.

if the terra is too deep, i'd try using a very fluffy brush. If it just doesn't work there are a few bronzers out there that are lighter, like the Charlotte Tilbury. It's very light

I think it can be built but it depends on how much deeper you want your bronzer to be. If you like something warmer as well you might try gold dust in tom ford.

Please contact MAC and have your bronzer replaced. If it’s an issue that’s acknowledged by the company and addressed it isn’t fair to hammer them for that each time you mention the bronzer. Put yourself out of the misery.

It also isn't fair to sell products that have not high quality standards. One is a mistake, 2 or 3 are a pattern. Many people have to save to buy just one make up product, they should get a high quality product. It is fair to mention it more than once, because people have to consider what they buy and if they have the capacity to jump on it.

@@loytoco MAC allows returns and exchanges. They tried to pull the products. In this situation they didn’t leave a bad product out. If you have one of these that aren’t performing I hope you can be open to getting it replaced.

@@jessabeauty917 Thanks, I do not buy any product by the Estée Lauder Companies, so I don't buy MAC. However, I hope you know that many countries do not have the luxury to return products once open. Even if they'd take it back here, hypothetically, I would have to travel hundreds of Km to get it exchanged, or pay an additional charge for shipping, which is not inexpensive. Hence, it is essential to repeat there is an issue, because people need to know what they are getting into. Also, they did not try to recall the item: make up items take months to produce, if they had recalled it, it wouldn't be sold right now. Quality control is important, especially for products that go on or inside your body, and companies need to be held accountable.

@@loytoco I disagree that they did not recall it. The item was for sale and then it was taken off from sale and finally now it’s for sale again. It could be a different market but this channel is US based so it’s applicable. They can pull a product and do testing, which they did. Maybe you are not aware of what happened if this is not a product you purchase. If a product is defective it often can be returned when it would not otherwise be. I can completely understand not living local to any MAC stores. I do make purchasing decisions partly on return policies and ease of return.
