I use Ratslayer and sneak to kill all the Legion scouts, but keep a Neutral status with the Legion. Even wiped out Nelson, except for Dead Sea. For him, used a steath boy to reverse pickpocket a pulse grenade.

I like how you actually know guns, I think fnv had the best vanilla and dlc guns that felt real with real calibres. Also the unique guns just looked great everyone of them felt special displaying them in my various hideouts as trophys was one of the most satisfying things to do in game

This Machine's quest requires you be level 12 to start it, the only level gated quest in the game I'm aware of, so you can't actually get it *that* soon. Not that it's hard to reach level 12, even if you just snuck up north from Goodsprings. On the rarity of pump shotguns: I'd attribute their rarity to needing unique animations. F1/2 had very limited animation sets, and several of F4's weapons are made really bizarre to allow animations to be reused (meanwhile Obsidian gave everything a unique jam animation even though you'll never see most of them without deliberately trying to see them). Really though, I'm surprised we haven't see any *bolt action* shotguns. Those were really popular in the '50-'60s since they barely cost more than a single shot, while pumps were wildly expensive until manufacturing changes made the pump action cheaper. Their ability to reuse animations would be even nicer. As for the hunting rifle, it's actually a totally different weapon in 1/2/Tactics. The version there, per description, is actually an SP-01 style civilian carbine and the capacity is explained by the game taking place in California. The Fallout 1 demo (which has a variety of names that differ from the final game and a bunch of leftover GURPS content) actually calls it "semi auto rifle".

Recently became a big fan of Q-35 matter modulator. It has one of the highest damage to requirements ratio in the game. -only 2 strength -low skill requirement -low weight -can get at the start of the game -hits hard enough to get through armor -very high crit damage -no unique perks -incredible durability -can use max charge practically And with all that, it still hits like a truck. It is easily comparable to top tier ballistics. But, of course, laser weapons in NV are completely busted and beat it in raw damage at high levels. Gatling laser is also like that, since you can pick it up as any build at any level and it will shred as long as you bump your strength and load max charge. Bonus points for not relying on crits at all.

5. That gun. - Blade runner fan 4.Lucky - Looks good and crit monster 3. Paciencia - Same reason with Lucky 2.Holorifle - Unique energy shotgun that can one shot even the toughest of enemies. Also most satisfying pump animation 1. Riot shotgun - Shotgun surgeon, Stay back and fast reload perks makes me a god. From that moment only money can hold my power. Also i can become a god in 10lvl's makes it even better

The fists that "shoot" were meant to consume ammo but a engine limitation prevented different weapon types referring to other ammo types, something along those lines. So the ballistic fist is using a projectile(in presentation) as to why it does so much damage but they couldn't do ammo for it. Kinda good in my opinion as a jack of all trades build player myself.

I love the silenced sniper rifle with the jsp rounds. You could stand behind any non hostile npc, blow their head off, and get no negative faction points. Really handy when you work for both NCR and the Legion, lol

A rear aperture sight, also known as a peep sight 'are' the iron sights. You're looking for a leaf and blade sight, as you point out, there is less in the way when shooting, especially important when leading running targets at distance but not as intuitive and easy to use as the peep sight.

People say that a lot. Why do you think that? First off, they look different. They look even less alike than the base fire axe which, like the one in the movie, has an unpainted wooden handle. You find it in a fire station, not a hotel, nor in Cottonwood overlook (Which at least has "Overlook" in common with the movie.) I would expect "The Shining axe" to be in Jacobstown. It isn't found in a door, or in a snowy maze. It isn't found near two people. Or in anyway that resembles the movie. The movie doesn't have the line "knock-knock" at any time. And the name is most likely a play on the enhanced knockdown effect.

My three favorite weapons are Chance's knife, That Gun and the holorifle. Chance's knife because I can just get it and my weapon needs are more or less handled for the entire run in a melee build. That Gun again has pure ease of access, but mostly it's the sheer versatility. 5.56 is stupidly easy to get and it's just a lovely little pistol. The holorifle can just do anything I aak it to. It punches hard, it can snipe, even if it's not the best at it, it deals with close up combat well. I just love it. My only two problems are that I can't repair it with jury rigging because the holorifle is a thing unto itself and having to play through Dead Money which I always regard as an unpleasant slog.

1. Laser Rifle (especially fully modded) - for me it's the most satisfying gun to play with, good to have in any situation. 2. All-American - close second to laser rifle but without that disintegration effect wich only makes corpses harder to find. 3. MF Hyperbreeder alpha (GRA) - automatic rapid fire laser gun, with ammo that rechage itself . 4. Abilene Kid LE BB gun - for those ridiculously OP steath kills. 5. Love and Hate - I like punching things, and it's the easiest/quickest weapon to get, that wll make me very good at it. 6. Embrace of the Mantis King - now we're talkin'! (it's also mad good at stealth killing, it's basicly one-hit, one-kill every time) 7. Fist of Rawr - did I mention that I like punching things? (and also it trivializes Dead Money) 8. Gehenna/Shishkebab - just for the looks and the design itself. 9. Protonic inversal axe - just go TPP and swing that halberd of an axe! So satisfying. 10. 10mm pistol (fully modded) - my gun of choice to smuggle to the casinos (also laser sight looks cool).

Here's my personal list, 10. Bottlecap Mine; I love the idea of a bomb that's made out of caps to serve as shrapnel. The explosion sfx is also very satisfying. Even so, it's cheap to make, so it'll never go out of stock. 9. Chance's Knife: I always rush towards the grave of Chance past the Cazadors to get it, it obliterates everything I come across, and the bloodied blade looks beautiful. Cuts through things like butter. 8. MF Hyperbreeder Alpha: This thing is a miracle of engineering. I don't need ammo, so ammo weight never becomes an issue. It shoots fast, it hits hard, and it looks beautiful. I love the yellow green and dark blue design. Just me and my Hyperbreeder against the world. 7. Two-Step Goodbye: Now typically, I don't like unarmed builds in FNV despite how fun they can get, but Two-Step goodbye blows things up, crits fast, and it has a shotgun at the end. How could I not love that? I sometimes use this, wear some heavy armor, and go with Veronica to punch through everything. 6. Vance's 9mm Submachine Gun: Similar to Maria, I always rush to get this on my first few levels, and if I have the ammo, I use this to chew through the NCRCF Prison, blasting through everything with controlled bursts. Love the darker tint, and the little lore behind it, being the weapon of Fallout's Bonnie and Clyde. 5. Anabelle: Play your cards right, and you can get this very early. Sneak through Black Mountain's defenses, kill the dude using this, and you have a Missile Launcher at Level 10 or so that can blast through anything you aim it at. I've never liked the arcing projectile type explosives, so the Anabelle and I got along like peanut butter and jelly. It also helps that it doesn't blow my legs apart unlike with the Fat Man. 4. Maria; it was Light Shining in Darkness, before Light Shining in Darkness was there. But I prefer it because it lasts twice as long before reloading unlike Maria. Shoots fast, accurate, plentiful and cheap ammo, and if you're fast, you can get it at Level 1. I also like the lore, it's the gun that was used to kill you with, and if you're a fan of poetic justice, the same gun that puts Benny down. Which I do. Looks pretty, shoots pretty. Light Shining in Darkness is definitely more powerful, but I love Maria more. And I stand by it. 3. Pew Pew: Two-shots and everything gets reduced to a Molten Slag. With Meltdown, those slags explode on shot. Plasma Defender would've taken this spot, but Laser fires faster, and hits just as hard almost. Looks pretty as well, I love the highly customized look. I also love the lore of it, a weapon used by a bastard of bastards who wanted everything to gain and lost everything he had. 2. Fully Modded Laser Rifle: Sometimes, I don't want to think. I just wanna click on heads in peace, and watch them explode in a violent plasma bomb. Is that too much to ask? Shoots fast, reliable, and with a huge ammo capacity. This is my weapon of choice, and has reliably carried me to the end game to blast through any competition with ease. 1. YCS/186 or the Gobi Campaign Scout Rifle: I'm stuck between these two as my go-to sniper rifle. On one hand, the Gobi can spray down .308 down range really fast, and looks gorgeous. The YCS looks just as pretty, if not prettier, but with the right perks, those shots explode, and before the fight even really starts, a second shot's already out with a fast reload.

I really love the 9mm. Whenever i think of NV i think of the 9mm first. Remember modding the game so the 9mm does more damage and played with that most of my playthrough.

My list is: 10.This Machine/Paciencia/Medicene Stick - All solid choices and almost always on my character. Not much to say, they are just really good (along with another half dozen things) 9. Shishkebab - It's a flaming sword. Enough said. 8. Hunting Shotgun - It's a shotgun, and it's satisfying to use. Lower on the list because it's perks don't synergies with other thing all that well. 7.Ratslayer - Early game critical is insane, and this weapon makes it so much easier. Possible to get (near) 100% critical rate as well. 6. Chainsaw - Rip n' Tear. 5. Christine's Sniper Rifle - Generally my go-to sniper once I get it. Silent and deadly. Also Christine is one of my favourite NPCs. 4. Laser Rifle (fully modded) - Incredible damage potential with the mods. Only loses points because it trivialises the game. 3. Pushy - The yeet-o-matic. Sends things either into space or into the ground. Your choice. 2. A Light Shining in the Dark - Iconic weapon of an iconic character. Packs a huge punch on its own and looks sleek. 1. All-American - It's versatility is just unrivaled. There is literally nothing that this thing can't do. Though my most fun playthrough used: Spiked Knuckles Chainsaw 9mm pistol Hunting Shotgun Double-barreled Shotgun Minigun Rocket Launcher Laser RCW FatMan

1.- A light shining in darkness - Reloads very fast and can ve unstoppable with super rounds, also I love pairing the gun with Joshua's outfit so I cal pay respect to the man, lmao 2.- Assault Carbine gra version - I love the fire rate, it can shred deathclaws with AP or surplus rounds and overall I love the AR style of rifles 3.- Paciencia - The Mexican flag, the damage and the name, awesome, I miss the scope tho. 4.- Saturnite fist super heated - Burning vile mutated creatures never gets old, I love the attack rate and of course the fire damage, it looks well, superheated. 5.- Survivalist rifle - Amazing story, overall versatile gun and the old rusty look. 6.- LAER - I love both versions, it's like a mid range laser sniper. 7.- Bozar - Idk, love the looks 8.- Ranger Sequoya - High damage, decent accuracy and lots of epic cowboy style, perfect to wear riot gear 🥴 9.- Christine cross of steel rifle - Not the best design but the silencer, getting it for free in the dlc and the backstory makes this rifle my favorite sniper 10.- That gun - High damage, flexibility thanks to the rounds it uses, high reload speed, weight and just the amazing br reference.

None of the weapons I consider in my top 10, but it is an interesting list. My preference is a covert sniper setup with preference to agility, critical hits and luck including strong guns, sneak and energy weapons skills. I want to be able to kill every enemy without them knowing, carry small deadly pistols for close quarters and effectively evade from damage/sticky situations. This is really OP and fun, I also like having unique weapons because the skins are really nice! 1. Gobi Campaign Scout Rifle 2. YCS186 3. In the order I usually obtain them: Big Boomer. Lucky. That Gun. Paciencia. Ripper. Thump Thump. Ranger Sequoia. Sleepytime. A Light Shining In Darkness. Anti Material Rifle. Unless I am going Energy only, that's a whole 'nother list! But I usually always get these weapons in most playthroughs unless I'm going for a very specific build. Nowadays I just console command Boomer in, rather than having to deal with Old Lady Gibson.. But either way I still get it almost asap, even though ammo for it is kinda rare early game. Love it! I also upgrade Ripper to the GRA version later on, but you can get a ripper from a viper raider right away so I grab that asap too. Also there is a better grenade rifle than Thump Thump in Lonesome Road but that's the ass end of my playthrough usually.

Superheated Saturnite fist: The sound of bashing things with it repeatedly is very satisfying and the damage is stellar overall. 2. Tri Beam/ Laser Rifle: It has everything I can ask for - damage, range, crits and the ability to larp as an imperial guardsman 3. Grenade Launcher: Something to switch to whenever I need to pop a group real fast. The 'Thoomps' are very satisfying too 4. Ballistic Fist: Also very satisfying to hit people with 5. Brush Gun: Yeehaw 6. Anti Materiel Rifle: My fave gun in the game, hands down. I just love the firing sounds, the experience, the design of it and the fact that I get to larp as Sinon. Its one of the things I lament when I start a non-guns build 7. Q35 Mater modulator: The plasma sound of it is very pleasing and the damage is good 8. Christine's Sniper Rifle: Sniping cottonwood cove is one of my favourite pastimes do and her silenced rifle is a great enabler for that.

I really love the caravan shotgun for some reason. Also all the various blunt melee weapons, there’s something satisfying about grabbing some piece of trash and wailing on someone with it until it snaps, then grabbing another one and getting back at it. Here is my top 3 favorite: 1. Paciencia 2. Chance's Knife 3. All-American I like how simple the first two looks and at the same time how strong they are, i have a crit build and whenever i hit a crit with Paciencia it's 1 shoting almost anything. All 3 of these is super fun to use. :D

@@arniii0707 If you want crits I recommend the laser rifle and tri beam laser rifle as they can get up to 90% crit chance and with multiple beams shooting out its pretty much a guarantee. If you want pure damage no rifle in the game does more damage than the Holorifle the YCS rifle is good as well if you want to snipe.

(big comment warning) God, I miss playing this game. For some raisin, it crashes every 5 minutes even with the crash fix. I'm trying to remember all of the weapons in NV but here are my top 10 and my thoughts on each. 1. Anti-Materiel Rifle - end game goodness Big boom power power bolt action fuck yeah baby! 2. MF Hyperbreeder Alpha - the best secondary in the game 3. Chance's Knife - the only melee weapon you'll need if you aren't pure melee and using the big two-handed stuff 4. Grenade Rifle - I love having it so I can cripple legs from far away DIE LEGION SCUM! 5. Plasma Caster - Classic Fallout energy weapon So cool! 6. A Light Shining in Darkness (.45 Auto Pistol) - If I'm not using energy weapons, or I've gotten bored of # 2, this is the one I prefer. 7. Proton Axe - This weapon saves me every time I decide to do OWB. Those scorpions are bullet sponges so it's nice to have a good anti-robot weapon with no ammo. 8. Bottlecap Mine - I just love crafting these and then watching it explode. 9. MF grenade - I just love crafting these and throwing them at enemies. So easy to make and are decently powerful 10. Throwing spears - I'm just sad there aren't more out there. I'd probably put throwing knives in here if I could find some. Apparently they exist idk.

if you count dlc weapons, then the laer since it has a 20 round mag and a fast fire rate as well as good damage even on very hard. crit chance with the right build is good too. lastly, it usually turns enemies to ash which looks even better in fo3 and nv compared to fo4 imo

1: 45 auto smg. I’m a sucker for thompsons. And while this has a couple of problems, its performance is awesome. It was my first weapon that I bought attachments for. 2: Minigun. Ammo burner, but fun as hell. This thing kicks ass when it needs to. Plus I love lumbering into a room, enemies then rushing me, before I mow them down with my minigun. Heavy is pleased with this gun. 3: Red glare. Didn’t use it that much since I got it when I was level 43 but holy hell I loved it when I did use it. I love blowing up my surroundings with reckless abandon. But for some reason with this gun, I suck at aiming it. Still really fun tho. 4: Hunting revolver. My side arm. People have big irons on their hip. I have the gargantuan titanium. Amazing damage, awesome fire rate. And looks sick as hell. 5: All-American. Drippy rifle. Amazing damage. Just wish I could fire in full auto.

MY top favorite weapons in New Vegas: 10 - Anti-Material Rifle This is mostly here because of its cool factor. It's the strongest sniper rifle in the game and exploding rounds from afar can kill Lanius before he even sees you there. However, it's mostly impractical because of its carry weight and heavy VATS cost in a pinch. With how twitchy NPCs move, missing is more inconvenient than with other sniper rifles. 9 - Katana My inner weeb calls to this weapon even though I'm more of a gun guy. The katana (fully modded) provided some adrenaline-filled moments like slicing Lanius to pieces or facing Gaius Magnus in a sword duel as the radiation ticks around me. A must if I want to make my killing a little more personal. 8 - Police Pistol My humble partner as I traversed the Sierra Madre. This durable little thing has seen me through the worst of Ghost People attacks. Load in .357 Hollow Point Bullets and watch the limbs explode! 7 - Ratslayer It's the "we have a sniper rifle at home" gun, and a pretty good one. As long as you attack from stealth, the effects are devastating. I have at least once taken out Quarry Junction with this gun. It took a lot of chemming, stealth boys and save scumming, but it is perfectly doable. The Ratslayer is a good placeholder before getting the real stuff. 6 - Hunting Rifle (fully modded) Getting all three mods is completely up to chance, but once you have them all installed, firing this beauty is a pleasure. I took this with me to Zion and made short work of all the creatures there. 10/10 would hunt with it again. 5 - Christine's COS Rifle My weapon of choice for sniper rifles. I demand all my sniper rifles be silenced, and .308 Armor Piercing rounds are more than a match for any Deathclaw. It's also lighter and shooting is less of a chore than the Anti-Material rifle. 4 - .45 Pistol (fully modded) The best weapon to bring when infiltrating the wretched hive of scum and villainy of The Strip casinos. No need to worry about long shots within the corridors of Gommorah or the Ultra-Lux. This is my weapon of choice for close-range assassinations and keeping a low profile. 3 - A Light Shining In Darkness And the Darkness comprehended it not. In close range fights, this little gun reigns supreme. Couple it with its low VATS cost, and Grim Reaper's Sprint, you can create a perpetual motion machine wiping out each Praetorian Guard as they come charging in when you come for Caesar at last. I often bring a Knife for Caesar personally, but Joshua Graham's gun can easily dispatch his guards in the meantime. (FYI, Benny usually keeps his cool whenever you come for him, but if you kill Caesar at the very first meeting and tell Benny you're killing him next, that smugness finally wipes off his face.) 2 - All American (F*ck yeah!!) But seriously, this gun is great at short to mid-range encounters, that is, traversing the Mojave wastes. Moderately big creatures like geckos, humans, nightstalkers are easily picked off as long as you are ready at an adequate amount of distance beforehand. For Deathclaws, simply switch to armor piercing rounds and watch their faces fly off! 1 - Laser Rifle (MUST BE FULLY MODDED!) My ever faithful ash pile maker. Pro-tip, get the Vigilant Recycler Perk and convert every Macrofusion Cell you'll ever get to the Max Charge version. Swig a bottle of Rushing Water and turn every hideous wasteland creature you'll ever meet to dust! Deathclaws, Mother, Alpha or Legendary all will fall quickly to this gun. The only con is that the gun degrades rather quickly with this combo and excessive use. However, laser rifles are such a common drop in the game and once you do Old World Blues, Dead Money and the Lonesome Road, the game will be tripping over itself to drown you in Weapon Repair Kits. Needless to say, Lanius will be thoroughly prepared for his voyage across the River Styx and we even skip a couple of steps for his funeral.

1: Alien Blaster more for the style and nostalgic retro scifi value than as a practical weapon but also because it's maybe the best gun in the game 2: Elijah's LAER because see above 3: MF Hyperbreeder can carry you through every DLC (except you know who) and the base game when you're trying to conserve ammo 4: Ratslayer I somehow like more than the Antimaterial Rifle in most clutch situations and I used it for most of Lonesome Road a few times 5: Lil Devil I just adore for every practical reason and it looks cool too 6: Holorifle needs no introduction or justification 7: Big Boomer with explosive shells makes you feel like the goddamn Doomslayer 8: Compliance Regulator for cheese value and fun 9: Gehenna because flaming sword in a post apocalyptic scifi game 10: Antimaterial Rifle with explosive rounds for heavy lifting situations

Ratslayer remains a favorite. I had one character based on that gun called Ratasesino. MF Hyperbreeder is just fantastic. All the joy of a machine gun with no worries for ammo. And, although I haaaaate Dead Money, I really love the Holorifle. Looks like a conventional weapon but ain't.

@@UltimateGamerCC I can't speak for everyone but it's a bit jarring going from the open world with alternate routes to solve quest lines in the main game to the "on rails" gameplay in Dead Money and Lonesome Road. Those DLC are just there to tell a story not your story. You have to go from A to B to C etc in order to get to the end. In the main game you can go from A to B to Pudding to 601 to get to the end and that's what I like about it.
