I've never heard that incredible Piraha video before or even heard the language. That video is incredible and mindblowing and that linguist Dan is amazing I find the idea of substrate languages, like hidden extinct languages, so interesting, like in Nhanda. Funnily enough that guy 'shawn get off my lawn' made a video on the Taa/Xoo language just a few days ago, but even he failed to mention the great detail that the dictionary contains all the taboo words, which as you say is amazing to see. Your outfit at 12:05 is SO cute and suits you amazingly!! I couldve guessed your #1 !! Not illogical reasons at all; not only did it bring you into linguistics, but is deeply connected to you and your geography in the world, despite not being aboriginal. I feel proud to have been here since the beginning of your language journey!

shamefully, I have absolutely no recollection of how we met…I feel like it was through someone else but I’d have no idea who

@@RheaDawnLanguage yeah i think you're right that it was through someone else... i think it was on my previous twitter account though so itll be hard to find out

Great video my guy, but would you count Gothic and Crimean Gothic as the same, because at least the Crimean Gothic language died out kinda recently. BY THE WAY, you kinda look like old maxmoefoe a bit

Could you showcase some of your alternate English evolutions you mention making in a video some time, that'd be cool

I’m planning on making a video on them soon, it’s just that I keep changing them all the time. once I’ve settled on a prototype I’ll start writing

@@RheaDawnLanguage Nice, I've always been interested in Anglic Conlangs, always wanted to see/do something where modern british/aussie dialects are used as the proto-language and continued on. Futurese kinda did this as well as it could for General American.

Is it actually correct to call Old English an extinct language? Like, it has developed into modern English, Scots, Yola and Fingallian, but the last two went extinct… but there are revival efforts as far as I know.
@RheaDawnLanguage11 ай бұрын
I would say it is purely because the language as it was around 600-1100 isn’t spoken anywhere today, except by a select few language nerds. You raise a good point though
