I'm really thinking about getting Baldur's gate 3. It is so awesome a deluxe physical is happening for ps5 and Xbox series x. The ps5 version comes with 2 disc and a lot of extra stuff and a nice box. The Xbox series x version is 3 disc which is crazy but cool. Plus pc is also getting a deluxe physical copy. I'll probably get for ps5. The game looks incredible and massive

I don't think that TotK being third is an indicator that the game is bad; I've considered it to be an indicator that the year was so good for games that there were games that were so good that they beat a phenomenal Zelda release. I think that's amazing!

Chained Echoes. Metroid Prime Remastered. Tears. Baldo in its completed and patched up form. Future Redeemed. And I already know I’ll love the Star Ocean 2 remake once I get to it. Tears delivered on like 90% of the hype for me. But it definitely felt like something was missing when you step back for a minute.

Super Mario RPG was such a surprise treat, but I swear Dave the Diver, Pikmin 4, Super Mario Bros. Wonder and Metroid Prime Remastered took up most of my gaming hours this year.

Honestly 2023 was such a great and diverse year for gaming no matter what your favorite genre might be, you found something to love. Resident Evil 4 Remake is my personal GOTY and I'm not even a big Resident Evil or survival horror guy. Just loved the original and the Remake basically just made it better. Also just started playing Super Mario RPG so can't really add to my list yet, but from what I played I've been really enjoying it.

Great list! Your top 2 are mine as well! BG3 is amazing, a once-in-a-decade kind of game we should treasure because most studios aren’t insane enough to try to make them. And I do laugh at the people who decry turn-based games. I mean Pokémon -possibly the most-played game in the world - is turn-based. Duh!

I cannot believe I am saying this...but The Murder of Sonic the Hedgehog might be my favorite. It was a legitimately flawless experience from start to finish. Tho I have trouble truly counting that, for any number of reasons 😂 I've been meandering my way through Cyberpunk, BG3, and Dreamlight Valley too - all of which have me in chokeholds, but we'll see who wins out in the end. As for my least fave? From this year...actually, it's gotta be Tears of the Kingdom. It added so many story and worldbuilding elements that I ADORE, but the emphasis on crafting (which I loathe) and the notable rise in combat difficult (which I am incurably awful at) have just made me groan. If I could just traverse this world freely and experience the story? It'd be an 1000/10. But gosh, I just felt like I couldn't win whatsoever.

What a cool list! Couldn’t agree more about Xenoblade 3 and Story of Seasons AWL! Oh and Happy New Year 😊

I’ll have to keep it to a top 3 because I didn’t play much that many new games this year, but 1) Baldur’s Gate 3 2) Fire Emblem Engage 3) Story of Seasons: A Wonderful Life I played, like, maybe four other new games this year (if you include Palia), but these stood out most for me. And BG3 at 1 is saying something because I’ve literally only been playing a few weeks, but I don’t know if I can put Engage over it at the moment

I don't think I played enough new releases to make a top 10. 1. Trails into Reverie 2. Super Mario Bros Wonder 3. Baldur's Gate 3 4. Legend of Nayuta: Boundless Trails 5. Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom I never think of re releases when compiling my list, but Kirby and Metroid Prime were very good as well. And yes, I am always and forever a massive Trails addict

My favorite games of this year are easily Tears of the Kingdom, Metroid Prime Remastered, and Kirby's Return to Dream Land Deluxe. Happy New Year btw! ❤

I liked at Xenoblade 3. Then went to like again at Future Redeemed. Why is there not a second like button?

Tears of the Kingdom is the best, most disappointing game I ever played. Some of the moments in the game were my favorite gaming moments ever, but when I neared 30-50% completion I got really bored. The most frustrating part for me is that I feel like the game could have had it all. It could have been a balance of classic 3D Zelda & BotW. After reading the Aonuma interviews I'm now feeling that Aonuma and I are on completely different pages on what we prioritize in Zelda games. And the long 6 year development kinda proves this. If I had to guess, the Zonai parts is really what slowed down development time. It definitely wasn't them spending time on enemy variety, dungeon design, or other classic Zelda elements. There aren't enough of these classic Zelda elements to make me believe they spent that much time on it. Also apparently the Depths took them very little time to develop. So most of that dev time had to be the Zonai parts. And while the Zonai parts are really cool, they aren't the reason I come to a Zelda game. And if I were to judge the game solely on how it uses the Zonai parts I don't think it uses them in the best way either. There are many things you CAN do, but you have little reasons to try anything new once you discover the hover bike exists. What the game really needed was more limitations. And if anyone were to dispute this I would immediately ask what they would think about the proving ground shrines. Cause for me those were the best parts of the game. That and the early game was the best. What do both of these parts have in common? Limitations. Anyway, thanks for letting me randomly vent about TotK on your comments section. Nice list btw. On a positive note, I'll list some of my favorite moments ever in TotK: - Meeting zombie Ganondorf for the first time - Playing with Ultrahand for the first time - Learning to do cool & whacky fuse tricks (like bomb shield jumps w/ bullet time) - Jumping down into the depths for the first time - Climbing up to the Wind Temple - Encountering Gloom Hands & Phantom Ganon for the first time - Fighting Gleeoks (and discovering I had to use recall on the ice Gleeok's icicles to get up to it) - Discovering Zelda sacrificed herself - Fighting the Demon Dragon - Starting a new file, attempting to rush to the final boss with only 4 hearts, and getting completely crushed by the boss rush without even making it to Ganondorf (I'll get there someday)
