It’s the opposite for me 😅 I never played stuff like Terraria or even Minecraft because you need to look up everything on the wiki just to understand what you’re doing so when I downloaded Stardew I was really surprised how much knowledge I had on it by year 3 even though I didn’t look anything up, it just effortlessly teaches you how to do things and you learn on your own, even if there were mistakes along the way it still felt like an enjoyable experience but now alot of games are ruined for me if they don’t have anything to do, like Story Of Seasons for example, it’s really enjoyable but I found myself getting bored because it doesn’t offer the same amount of content and it costs ALOT more 😭

Stardew Valley is so accessible and works for so many gaming styles. Don't want to farm? Fine - you can buy stuff you need for the vendor in the woods or just Jojo through. Don't want to fight? Fine you can use the quarry and do panning for ore/stone. There's just so many options on how to play. And all the different farm types and secrets and the villagers have actual personalities. Is so playable and re-playable.
@theunexpectedsmile55359 ай бұрын
This may be a dumb question and I don’t mean to offend at all, but can Stardew Valley be played realistically without farming? As someone who’s never played it and isn’t a big fan of farming sims, it seems like that’s the main mechanic of the game. Am I wrong?
@tomthomas22689 ай бұрын
I have a save where I have the river farm, make money fishing, with crab pots, foraging, mining, tapping trees and going the Jojo route. It's tough but doable. Also if you do want to farm farming can mean: Crops, livestock, trees, gems (via those machine thingies) probably other stuff I've forgotten. or any mix of these. The Beach farm is good for not farming too.@@theunexpectedsmile5535
@fire34fly9 ай бұрын
@@theunexpectedsmile5535 you can look up videos on how to play Stardew without farming, a lot of youtubers have completed play-throughs without farming to make things interesting. You can fish, you can just sell animal product, mine and make money that way. There are certain goals you can't achieve without farming and you can't achieve 100% perfection which is the "end game" goal without farming but it doesn't stop you from playing the game and your other activities if you don't do it. I've personally never played without farming but after a year or so in game time you get tons of items that you don't even need to farm yourself anymore, it all becomes automated and you can do other stuff.

7 years old and still the best. I’ll probably get the new one when it comes out but I can’t imagine playing on anything but my TOTK oled Edit to add: I’m also console hunting for the older consoles. 2nd Edit: my favorite has to be BOTW/TOTK. I consider them to halves of the same game but in a good way.. where it feels complete when you finally put them down. Also because I’ve had BOTW since 2018 and I still don’t think I’ve found everything in that game.. not even close. Same for TOTK since launch. ACNH is another, I loved sharing my island ideas with my husband and annoying him with how the characters talked (he never could stand that) now I share them with my boys and they share theirs with me. Stardew Valley and it really makes me excited for haunted chocolatier when that’s finally released. RF5 absolutely deserves a mention because of its gameplay and it’s gorgeous scenery and sometimes creepy… I love harvest moon winds of Anthos because it’s exploration kind of reminds me of BOTW in a sense, but with the knowledge you don’t have to constantly fight. So you can just enjoy the scenery and cute animals. I fully intend to tame a tiger.. at least this one won’t maul me when I pet it. They’ll except food items btw. Idk if anyone figured that out.. usually pet food is good. Honestly there are a number of games I’ve absolutely had so much fun playing that it would take hours to explain. But here’s two Indy games I recommend if you’re looking for something to help with your boredom. Shalnor Legends and it’s sequel Shalnor Legends 2. While they aren’t visually stunning in the sense of any triple A game you might find the graphics are still good and the gameplay is fun without being complicated. The story premise is easy to follow but I find still makes me wanna keep pushing to see what else happens. In all honesty they kind of remind me of the old legends of Zelda games… oooh also try spirittea.. it’s another Indy game.

I went through my whole games list on the Switch to see which games I've either fully completed or played enough hours of. And I do have enough to make a Top 10 myself lol. So here are mine (and they're not in order either)- -Super Smash Bros. Ultimate- Definitely lives up to its name. I only did the Story mode and it's a great game, but I didn't feel excited about it as I did with Brawl, so Brawl's still my fav SSB game. -Animal Crossing New Horizons- This is still the game I've sunk in the most hours on. I both love and hate the game lol. Love because of how much fun it was to create my own island and I had friends I could play with. I think this game was at it's best when you could play with others. I hated how addicted I got to it though. Loved the last update and I did get the Happy Home DLC with got me to play it another 6 months, but I finally dropped the game and actually deleted my island. I won't be getting another AC game because I hate the real time mechanic and I felt like the game would punish you if you took breaks so yeah. Still this was my "Covid game" and I don't regret playing it. -Super Mario Odyssey- Mario is the reason I became a gamer to begin with. I remember when the original game came out. Everyone I knew wanted to have an NES and my brother and I were no different. While Mario 64 is still my fav Super Mario game (from the main series), Super Mario is up there easily and I know I'll probably be replaying this game again this year (we'll see though). -Spiritfarer- First Indie game I ever bought on the Switch and this game is just special. It's fun and I love exploring the world. Normally I am good with figuring things out, but this time I did struggle figuring out underlining stories. Had to look them up on the Wiki for this game. Still the fact that I've sunk over 150 hours into this game is saying something. -Luigi's Mansion 3- First LM game I got and yeah I love it. I really enjoyed the different themes of each floor and the collectables. Fav area was the Garden one with the Magic floor coming in a close 2nd. Worst for me was the Egyptian one because of the time limit in certain areas and I had to use a guide because of that time limit. -Smushi Come Home- Such a charming game and while I am glad I got it, I wish I got it when it was on sale because I don't think the price was worth it due to just how short it was (took me 5 hours to beat it). -Submerged- One of the more recent games I got, I got it on sale in November after one of your colleagues recommended it. It's another platformer and what amazes me the most about this game is how well it told a story with barely any dialogue. This is another somber story since it takes place in a post-apocalyptic world. Gameplay is fun too. -Mario Kart 8 Deluxe- Avid MK fan here. Played every major console game. Yes I did get that big DLC package. This is the only game I'll play competitively, but I don't think I can do that anymore since I find that my hands hurt quicker whenever I play it. Still love this game though. -The Last Campfire- Latest game I completed and I got it when it was very cheap over recently. I love puzzle games and I was able to figure out all of them when playing on normal mode. I don't think I found all of the collectables though, that fog maze was hard lol. Very sweet game but it does have it's dark moments too. -Miitopia- Fav Switch game for sure. I keep coming back to this game, it's just so fun. Turn-based JRPGs are my fav genre for a reason. I love putting people I know into my party and the game had a few nice twists in it. Overall great list.

Good list! I love seeing lists like this as everyone has their favorites, you know? I'm going to do two top threes. One where it is exclusive to Switch, and the other three being multiple platforms but I have it for switch. Like you, these are in no particular order. Switch exclusive 1. Kirby and the Forgotten Land I'm just going to say it. I love Kirby! And this is probably one of my favorites! It's adorable, plays really well and it is unique! I still remember finding out about the Kirby car and I was pretty much hooked! 2. Mario Bros Wonder I tend to gravitate more to 2D games when it comes to Mario. And my goodness is this game an absolute blast! When you have a game that makes me smile, laugh and clap my hands in every level, you have a recipe for a wonderful game! Plus... I love the Elephant power up! My new favorite power up of all time! 3. Miitopia I wasn't sure about this game at first, but I eventually gave it a try for the 3DS and it did not disappoint. And the Switch version is so much better! I love the different jobs, both normal and silly and the customization of everything is so crazy! It's also the only RPG where I don't mind the AI having control of my teammates. Multiplatform 1. Cult of the Lamb This game just keeps getting better and the Switch version has gotten a little more better but still has issues. Even with them though, I can't help but love this game. Songs played in the base have a knack for calming me down and I love how accessible it is! 2. Rhapsody: Marl Kingdom Chronicles I didn't think these games were ever going to come out here, but I am so happy they did! The whole series had a place in my heart and there is always somewhere in these stories where I will cry. But there is also much to smile about and the singing is welcome to me! Very rexommended 3. Thomas Was Alone I am picking this one because the narrative does it's job so well! Somehow you feel for these characters despite them just being squares and rectangles. The puzzles were also really interesting to figure out as well! I have a lot of facorites, but these were just the ones that came to mind at rhis moment!

I would love to see another farming sim ranking post-farm(aggedon). There’s so many farming sims now I don’t know which to play next as a switch player.

I definitely agree that the best story games are from RPGs. I'm a huge fan of Persona 5 and have wanted to get Fire Emblem too.

So I've never played any of the Xenoblade Chronicles. Do you suggest I start with the first one or should I just jump right to the third one?

Y'all sleep on TOTK. ALMOST EVERYTHING except MWA. Lol this my favorite Zelda game. It's 1:29a and I'm on it.❤❤❤

Yup true. Top 2 open world Switch game for me are Zelda TOTK & Hogwarts Legacy. TOTK already 150 hours & HL already 65 hours ❤

I'm torn between Disco Elysium, Dragon's Dogma (which I can't believe runs so good on the Switch), and the Danganronpa series as my favs. My number one spot definitely goes to Return of the Obra Dinn.

Couldn’t agree more with ANCH It not only kept me sane and busy but also gave such a beautiful community that so positive in such a hectic, negative and terrifying time. I played it every single day for two years Right until they say they told us no more DLC I would have paid for more for this game for forever It definitely was same money tier for me as Sims (I own it all)

The Switch was lock down proof during COVID. I think the pandemic help push the switch success. I don't think I would've recognized this much and the OLED OMG! THE OLED! I know, I know you may not agree. Y'all my name is Nick and I'm an addict of the switch. 😢❤

I tried playing No Man's Sky and I really, really liked it, but I must have been doing something wrong, because it took so long to travel anywhere that I just gave up. I would fly for 5 mins straight and still be the same distance away from a planet or my destination. Tried looking for tutorials but I couldn't find any for the Switch. 😩
