Very nice. I spent 5 weeks in Tahiti and her Island 20 years ago. Kind of "backpacking" by hopping on General cargo ship on its way with supplies to the different Islands. It was an interesting experience trying to live on a budget since the Islands are expensive and normally cater to high end tourism. However I got to know locals and spent time with them and was shown great hospitality. It was nice seeing the places again. Funny you picked Moorea as your favourite Island. I remember it was the favourite Island amongst the locals, while the tourists liked Bora Bora the most. Cheers and thx for a great video.

James, your Look Back video was fabulous and a great idea. I particularly liked your comments in your #2 where you said, "Complete silence, that's what it's all about." Even though I don't care for all the music, you have in my opinion the sailing channel on the internet. Thank You.

Motu Famoa Rangiroa Music - James, If you will, what was the Song, band and source for the music on #4, a slow jazz sax band w drums bass and piano. You used it in the original video too. I’m an artist watercolorist and would love to listen in the background while painting. I’ve enjoyed all your vids for quite a while now. I’m not a patreon but occasionally single donate. I’ve used a couple of screengrabs from your vids for painting inspiration as well. I was all over the pacific while in the Air Force and it really made an impression on me and revisit vicariously through your travels. I lived on Exuma for a while as well. I’d love it if you included conversations with some of the people you meet talking about life on the islands or food or art or family life and daily life in general. I think it’d add a dimension that’d fit nicely with your current vibe. Much love and fair winds, Jim

All the music I use is from a copyright free music service so they are real bands, just tracks musicians sell

Call me a wus, but I usually drop the main at night and just use the (preferably foiled) jib. So dangerous dropping the main in rotten conditions at night. I'm happy dropping a knot or two. Even three.
@SailorJames Жыл бұрын
My “Night Mode” for sailing in the trades is to put the 2nd reef in the main and furl the headsail to 100% - this way when the mean night squalls show up I can just pay out the main and shorten the headsail. I would never drop the main at night but I am with you about not minding losing some speed for comfort and safety.
@nicklindsley7866 Жыл бұрын
@@SailorJames i knew someone who sailed round the world just on the jib. He had no problem on the high seas, only docking, lol.
