Best thing I bought this year was Arturia Pigments 2. The visualizations it provides is literally teaching me synthesis. And the addition of granular synthesis adds just amazing pads. It is also NKS compliant and works great with the NI Komplete Kontrol S25 that I bought on the “stupid deal of the day” from Musician’s Friend for $200. Given that I got Komplete 12 Select with it I basically got the keyboard controller for free. Looking forward to learning Massive. However, I’m hearing a lot of people rave about U-He Hive 2. Sanjay C being a rookie in the game, I wanted to make sure every step I took was forward and I feel the izotope suite 3 creates little room for error. I’m a little confused tho on what the suite would offer that the elements version doesn’t. Also I constantly hear mixed reviews about waves plugins but for some reason the horizon bundle keeps calling my name.
@SanjayC
@SanjayC 4 жыл бұрын
I totally stand behind the Waves plugins I've recommended. I would use them on my own music on Spotify, and I'm super picky. Of the Izotope products, I like Ozone the most. And if you're just using it for mastering (which is what it excels at), then all you'll need is the Elements version. But at the $50 price, you just can't beat the current deal on PluginBoutique.

Good stuff, as usual. Question tho....you mentioned ADSR for sample management but there's also Loopcloud, which is more powerful. I know you've reviewed it before so, just curious why it wasn't mentioned here. I TOTALLY agree about Ozone 9. I have that and there's no reason to master with anything else! Worth every penny. AND...it's NKS compatible now. :-) I'll have to check out XO again. I first looked at it and thought...meh. But I'll look at it again after your comments.
@SanjayC
@SanjayC 4 жыл бұрын
I think they Sample Manager and Loopcloud are quite different things. ADSR Sample Manager is simple, light and, straightforward. You can’t purchase new samples from inside it. But it’s just good for doing the one thing- organizing your samples. With Loopcloud the option to buy new samples and test them before buying is the killer feature.

If I already have Atlas would you still recommend XO? I am very interested but they do seem a little similar in application. Only thing I would add to this list, which isn't a third party VST but the built in Poly Grid for Bitwig.. it is pure awesomeness for sound design in my opinion. Guess you could do a give away for the casio CZ V. If you ever needed ideas you can always do vids on the sounds you get from the plugins. This way viewers can hear what they would get before they purchase. I mention this as I seen a video of a guy doing a particular Behringer keyboard review and he hit the the C keys up the piano bed with every synth sound and the effects. The video was 20 minutes long thou but so informative as I felt I knew everything the keyboard offered. 👍

New subscriber, love your vibe and energy :) I watch some channels and feel overwhelmed, but after watching you, I'm thinking maybe making music doesn't have to be so hard! What are your thoughts on becoming well versed in Live?
@SanjayC
@SanjayC 4 жыл бұрын
Hi David. Thanks for the kind comment. Ableton Live is the DAW I use most, but I really like Logic as well. I only switched to Ableton because I need a mindset change. :-) It takes a while to learn any DAW. I suggest you learn Ableton if you're specifically into music genres that lend themselves to loops (EDM, Hip Hop, etc). Not to say that you can't use it for other genres, but it just has the extra nice workflow/performance features for those genres. Give it time and patience. You can master any DAW with learning and practice! Good luck!

Hey Sanjay I am new to music production and I was thinking about buying the 100 dollar version of Ableton
@SanjayC
@SanjayC 4 жыл бұрын
Ok. Also consider Ableton Live Lite which comes free with lots of $100 keyboards and audio interfaces. See my 6 keyboards and $100 or 7 audio interfaces for $100 videos. Ableton Live Lite come with a little less than Intro, but hey it’s free with that hardware.
