Hi Vicky, how amazing to hear that you found the booktube community so helpful last year 😊 Great book selection! Nevermoor, I Know Where the Caged Birds Sing and Know My Name are also on my TBR :) ohh I didn’t half a Soul is from a Montreal author! I read Finlay Donovan and can’t decide if I should read the next book😅

I haven't picked up the rest of the Finlay Donovan series. I'm not sure that I would enjoy it.... I liked the 1st one because I thought it was some really ridiculous situation but there's only so much of that I can stand. Not sure the next one would really it the mark. I was quite happy to find out that Olivia Atwater was from Montreal. Now that's an author that I should continue reading from. But again a bit scared to pick out the next books because not sure that they will be as good. I'm weird that way I guess.

Hi Vicky. Happy New Year to you and your family. I am on Good Reads and have signed up to be your friend. I read a lot of E-books and sometimes books from my local library. I also read books that I've been given or have been recommended by others. I particularly enjoy mystery/murder and cosy mysteries. Christian and Amish fiction. The occasional biography. Thanks for going through your journal with us.

I didn't see your request for friendship come in... strange but looking forward to it! I love sharing books recommendations!

I loved, loved, loved this. I had to keep pausing and going to my library's site to place a hold and then back again. So many good recommendations. The only one that I have read and did greatly enjoy that you mentioned was Finley Donovan. Like you, I admit, it was ridiculous, but sometimes that is just what you need. I opened a Goodreads account years ago, but haven't done anything with it in so long. I will be checking it out again. I am also planning to keep better track of the books I read this year. Thanks so much for sharing this with us. Love & hugs!

More than 40 years ago in high school i was supposed to read the book "The grapes of wrath", i could not get into the book and never read it!! I paid for the book so i could read it some day. I finally decided it (2023) was time! I finished the book and was surprised that i enjoyed it this time. I have found that i can read what is written on the page but cant always see the deeper or hidden meaning. I could not figure out the reason for a whole chapter on the turtle crossing the field. I ended up getting the Cliff notes for the book and read that too. That did help me understand so much more in the book. I realized that i would not have cared about this book if i had finished it in high school because i had no way of truely understanding the hardship of the depression. I did enjoy reading it finally!

I totally understand. Sometimes we are just not ready for the message of a book until another time! I wouldn't have thought of the cliff notes but that's a great idea!

Yes it's so much easier on a kindle since it's lighter!
