I love how this video is from 3 years ago but all the comments are from a few weeks/days ago, monster roars are ALWAYS popular. I just KNEW Godzilla was gonna be No1, many monsters have a similar roar but you'd be able to identify Godzilla's instantly, every time you see him sorta charge the roar it's one of my fav moments, it's the silence before that majestic sound he makes I just love it so much

I have great respect for those that came before, but Monsterverse godzillas roar sounds so good. A someone studying audio engineering, i have a great appreciation for the roaring sound. You can HEAR how many layers of sounds and modulation was used to create that roar. Beautiful audio.

Something about how dynamic Godzilla's roar is is just super satisfying. He's got a "I'm letting you know who's boss" roar, a more higher pitched very pissed off roar, a "charging into the scene" roar, and a pained roar, he's got really good sound design.

The tripod from War of the Worlds isn't really a monster, but that noise it makes was awesome. I'm going to assume that Mechagodzilla is also not really a monster, but it just sounded like a mechanical Godzilla. I'd have to say the best was either one of two of the Godzilla roars or the Kraken from Clash of the Titans. Godzilla is iconic, but the Kraken was right up there too. One they missed ... the Balrog from Lord of the Rings.

God, I've loved the sound of the Jurassic Park raptors since I was a kid. Absolutely spine chilling. Also, the one roar I'd add to this fantastic list are the Reapers from Mass Effect. Another absolutely awesome sound to rival the War of the Worlds horn.

As an evolutionary biologist I'm going to be a bit of a "fact geek" here, the dinosaurs wouldn't have roared in real life as they wouldn't have had the larynx for it, only mammals have the ability to roar... dinosaurs would have made more of a hissing sound.... It was a great intimidating sound from the start that told humans that death was coming for them. And the funny thing is that the alien machine is probably only venting some kind of gas and it doesn't actually mean anything. It's not like they were trying to scare people.
