Hi 👋 Greetings from New Zealand. I was 18 years young in 1978. I remember buying Elvis Costello's album This Years Model back then. I like the song Pump it Up from it which was released as a single. I think he is a good singer and songwriter. He has put out brilliant albums over the years. From Carl.

I love your book reviews, and I thoroughly enjoyed these album reviews. It's refreshing to hear someone talk about albums instead of songs. Two concept albums I like quite a bit are Pink Floyd ANIMALS (comparing animals to certain human personality types), and Ghost PREQUELLE (a musical journey through the bubonic plague pandemic in 14th century Europe).

@@v.h.rodriguez7997 Animals is my favorite Pink Floyd album. 1977 was a great year for music.

That's what I'm talking about! It seems we have *VASTLY* different tastes. I've done a video a while back called 'I Don’t Have A Favourite Artist', which talks about my musical journey through the years. Feel free to refer that if you want. For me, if you are looking for my attention, you have to sound like no one else. Before, I would have laughed at some of your choices; this comes from a devastaing experience of a local radio station drastically shifting their setlist, and a prompt hatred for much in the new genre. But your explanaitions have me intrigued. Might have to check some of these out.

@@milesknightestrada3286 I listened to your video and found it very interesting! I share your fondness for funk (though not to the same degree), and I generally like Frank Zappa but prefer Captain Beefheart. It took me a long time to warm up to jazz, but I like it a lot now.

@@LoganAlbright73 Interesting. I do like Beefheart, though Trout Mask gets grating in areas. I pretty much only listen to P-Funk now; anything else in the genre is a pale imitation. I still listen to music, and am willing to find new favourites. This topic should definitely be explored further, provided your viewers will let you.

Oh this was cool! Some good picks here for sure. :) Really I'm not in general a huge fan of punk. I feel like some of those bands, like The Sex Pistols and The Germs, etc., kind of served to lower the standards of rock music. Although I do have exceptions, like The Misfits. Really I don't even know exactly what my top 5 albums would like like. Right now though I would probably go with: 5. Unknown Pleasures, by Joy Division 4. Ride the Lightning, by Metallica 3. October Rust, by Type O Negative 2. Pyromania, by Def Leppard 1. Love, by The Cult Wall to wall bangers with those records. :)

@@TH3F4LC0Nx Good picks! I am big into goth rock as well, so some of those are in my collection.

If market ideology is the dominant source of political authority in the world, how can people be both non-conformist individuals and submit to libertarian impersonal market logic? I truly don't get why anyone would think that free exchange between two people should require everyone else to roll along with the consequences of the new property relations. That value system has been explored pretty thoroughly for a long time now; isn't it kinda like transparently flimsy?
@LoganAlbright735 ай бұрын
@@Barklord Well, I don’t believe that market ideology is the source of political authority, because I don’t believe that political authority is legitimate.

@@LoganAlbright73Which Libertarians don't believe in private property and market exchange value?

@@Barklord I don’t know any, but I’m afraid I am failing to grasp your point, for which I can only apologize.

@LoganAlbright73 My point is that you say you don't believe political authority is legitimate, but then say you do believe in private property, which is a pillar of modern liberal market political authority.
