Swordfish. One of my pure guilty pleasure movies. Yes it’s cheesy and over the top Hollywood slick and it’s extremely silly but I also love it. Everyone seems to hate this movie but I loved it. Loved the fact that the bad guy straight up wins in the end. Travolta played so many villians after pulp fiction and 90% of them were awful but here he is fantastic as Gabriel. No one else could have played that part. Last Action Hero. I sort of have to pretend this is a guilty pleasure sometimes, depending who I am talking to but I will straight up defend this movie to the end. It’s just so utterly brilliant. The whole meta aspect and piss take of the action genre is dead on. When Arnie shoots a ninja in his closet and the kid asks ‘how did you know there was a guy in there?’ and Arnie responds ‘there’s always a guy in there’. Hilarious. If you’re not on board with the movie at that point you are just not on board with it.

I agree that the first one has incredible visuals, but if you go back and watch The Lost World, it doesn't have the same texture and quality as the first one.

Im not a huge Jeff Goldblum fan or anything but I see the comparison you make. His odd acting style actually makes the most sense in The Fly, sense ya know he's transforming into a fly and acting weird/odd is expected. Good movie too.

I didn't like Jurassic Park 3. I keep hearing about a 4th one as well, but I thought they decided to discontinue it. But I'm not sure.

Guilty Pleasures to me are movies that you REALLY are embarrassed that you like them. You may not seek it out to rewatch, but if it happens to be on as you're scrolling the guide, you'll click and watch. So I have to go with: 1. Showgirls 2. Spaceballs 3. Porkys 4. Valley Girl 5. Biodome HM>Armageddon; Roadhouse; Independence Day

Wow! Definitely some questionable films there but I understand why you like them. 'The Lost World'. God, I was ssssso disappointed when I saw that. I've not seen another 'Jurassic' movie since. Always loved Jeff Goldblum, though. Could this be a bit of a guilty pleasure for me, watching your videos from over a decade ago? Just joking... not much has changed, apart from some added polish. Your bright eyed nostalgic enthusiasm is infectious here✨

I like Generations too! It has Data's Lifeforms song - worth it for those 15 seconds alone.

Your opening monologue had me laughing, because it reminded me of a conversation I had in my film class last semester. We were talking guilty pleasures (most people said something like "Spider-Man 3" or "Under Siege") and everybody just dropped their jaws when I admitted I dislike 90% of everything the Coen brothers do and yet I enjoyed "King Kong vs. Godzilla." haha. Good times.

The whole Jurassic Park trilogy is my childhood, although I see some of the flaws in 2 and 3, I still love them anyway. By the way, how'd you like Jurassic Park 3? I keep hearing about Jurassic Park 4 and whether or not they'll do it. But I don't think they should, if its going to be this much trouble to come up with a proper story. I think they should just leave it the way it is. JP3 was a solid ending!

I agree with you about The Lost World in general, but I completely disagree with you about the special effects being more "pedestrian" than what's done today. For me, the effects here and in the original Jurassic Park hold up much better because it's not 100% CGI; half the time, something is really in front of the camera. Take for instance, Peter Jackson's King Kong, which is all CG. Lots of detail, but not for a second did I believe the creatures occupied the same space as the human characters.

Eh...I would still maintain that the dinosaurs here look much better than the dinosaurs in Jackson's King Kong or the Lizard in The Amazing Spider-Man. They aren't so obviously computer-generated tricks to me. Again, mostly because they were wise enough to use animatronics where they could. Yes, a downgrade from the first Jurassic Park, but still better than a lot of what I see today. P.S. I'm not trying to berate your judgment. I'm just doing what I do best: talking about movies!

Iron Will? The Lost World: Jurassic Park? Those are genuinely good movies, haha. Flawed, indeed but not bad. Iron Will seems cliched and extra corny now but back when it came out, it was really good. I haven't seen it in years though. JP2 is a letdown in comparison to the original but it's still one hell of a awesome movie on it's own.

Now, Star Trek Generations, I don't know, I've never been connected with the Star Trek universe. I've always been more of a spectator. I do know that Trekkies hate it and always say it makes no sense and the timeline thingy was wrong and blah, blah, blah, I don't know... but when I watched it yeeeaaarrrrs ago, I enjoyed it. I didn't know what made sense or not, I was just watching a cool movie. So I guess you could call that a guilty pleasure.

A big thing I didn’t like about Generations is how the Enterprise got destroyed. After all the ship has been through, in the end it gets destroyed by a measly bird of prey. And why would the shield frequency be located in engineering as La Forges screensaver rather than on password locked security station on the bridge.
