how did you learn jazz piano? did you have a teacher/mentor or self taught

Depending on how much of a beginner- at playing jazz or piano in general? With both I’d recommend a teacher to get you started- it’s like a superhighway & a good teacher can help identify your strengths & weaknesses & most more quickly than you would otherwise.to get the general idea. Then you’ll get the most out of the books.

Chords is motion sounds great, gonna have to check that out. The Jazz Piano Book by Mark Levine helped me connect a lot of dots in music theory and chord voicings.
