This man is producing some bangers! Kenshi Yonezu is without a doubt my favorite Japanese artist as of right now. A lot of his melodies are really catchy and creative with instrumentals spanning all sorts of genres, whether it be J-Rock, J-Pop, RnB, etc., and vocals reminiscent of J-Rock band RADWIMPS. On top of being a music artist, he also creates his own cover art for his CDs (And his art is good too)! Despite all the praise I’m giving him though, I’m not going to pretend like every single one of his songs are bangers. As you’ll see in this video I’m not the biggest fan of diorama and not too many of the B-Side tracks are present here. Just have to be honest and fair here because no artist is perfect. Though his recent stuff from LOSER onwards has been nonstop greatness imo and it’s really cool to see he’s getting so much attention for his songs nowadays ever since Lemon in Japan (for it being a huge drama theme and later on a monster hit song) and Peace Sign overseas (for it being used in the worldwide hit anime My Hero Academia and becoming a fan favorite OP among fans). I’m looking forward to what other new songs he has planned for the future (and hopefully one of them is the Jujutsu Kaisen anime movie song). If you have any questions about songs not on the list, be sure to leave them down below!
Note: Hachi works aren’t included as I’m not all that familiar with Vocaloid. DAOKO’s Uchiage Hanabi wasn’t included as well because Yonezu is only a featuring artist there. Any titles on the list are from the official romanizations on streaming services (with the exceptions of Daydream, Stray Sheep and Spirits of the Sea as those are translated on streaming services), so if any of the romanizations are wrong, that is why.
