There are very few whiskies that I'll say outright are bad. I'm like y'all - I'll say it's just not for me, or I don't care for it, or the profile doesn't suit my palate. Or I'll just say that I don't like it, and explain why. Wes it's good to see you again. 😍 6:42 I do like Dickel - except I can't stand their bourbon. I never get vitamins, but I do get pecans - and I love pecans. 🙂 10:04 It sounds like Rock Town scorched the mash - which is hard to believe from a commercial distillery. 13:25 I can verify that Balcones Distilling isn't making any more bourbon - someone in their office confirmed it to me. They will still make corn whisky (I asked her why not just use some of that white dog for bourbon, and she said she'd pass that on), but they're going to focus on barley whisky. They have about a two supply of Texas Pot Still Bourbon on hand, and then it'll be gone - which really distresses me, because I love that stuff. I've had one bottle of the True Blue corn whisky, and I loved it. Earlier tonight I had a glass of the Baby Blue, which I love, though the higher proof of the True Blue made it better.

Well that’s why liquor stores and thousands of distilleries exists. Something for everyone. I’m actually a big fan of Balcones and had their True Blue Cask Strength Single Barrel Specs store pick. It’s 135.4 proof nuclear bomb that I just love. Uncle Nearest is a decent bottle but something I probably wouldn’t buy again. I have the 100 Proof Rye, 1884, and 1856 and the rye is my favorite of the 3. Great video. I’ve lost 2 family members and 3 very close friends to suicide. It’s a hurt that never goes away. Thanks for everything❤❤

Balcones is fantastic Single Malt but most everything else, I agree I’m not a huge fan. The True Blue Cask Strength (shown on the counter) is super black pepper forward for me.

They are actually all so different you could do it. The only struggle was Rocktown and Balcones since they have the same profile, but I knew I liked Balcones more so I was able to call it.
