Thank you very much for this beautiful choice of Bernard's solos.. i think they're all the best for me too.. His masterpiece is ''The Asphalt World'' where he took really the Top of his guitar's expression .... i really love his music.

Yeah, Dark Star made the list. Man, that's my favorite Suede song. I'm a huge Butler fan. Great guitar playing. I know nothing of Marr's style, so I can't compare the two guitarists.

Great video! Bernard is my favourite guitarist, a fitting tribute. You are missing the ending to the full version of "Stay Together" mind, preferably from Blackpool 1994

butler is my fave guitarist of all time...Oakes is Ok, but Butler invokes the spirit of tasteful rock&roll....subtle sloppiness and free will in notes spills out of his hands and heart...Oakes is good but too perfect and at times dainty...Butler captures the true spirit of Suede in it's lushful sloppy melodic rock&roll form...my fave solo is from "We Are the Pigs"...only Butler can produce a solo that much of the "Suede" feeling.

And yet...he's even better than that!

surprised not to see this hollywood life sollo on here. that one is gritty and thrilling. and for me we are the pigs is far and away this most quality esp with the second guitar coming in part way through.! god i love this guys playing. the greatest rhythm guitarist after k richards i feel.

bernard's solos were always kind of ok, but it was his absolutely thick, meaty and menacing riffs that were why he was so good.

@edwardpeach On the whole no but try 6.05 - 6.45, We are the pigs. Most definatley a solo. Not as in the playing of lots of notes but as in the bursting release of emotions and telling of a whole story through music

I prefer the version of the solo from He's Dead when they perform it live on Love & Poison, it's rough and scratchy but the sound and energy is probably one of my favourtite moments of his. I met Richard Oakes cousin in a pub once when I was still in school and obnoxiously told her after a few drinks I should have replaced Butler because I 'could play Suede's albums too' (at least she said he was his cousin). I don't think I could have ever written anything like either of the fellows though.

probs one of the best guitarists of the 90's near definatly top ten, behind people who will always be legends like Jonny Greenwood, but hes definate in the top ten, shame he left to be hpnest having said that ive only heard three or four songs just getting into them.
I'm not criticising the content of this list but just wondered why you chose a top 9 and not top 10? Hell with BB you could of had a top 50!
@TruthSeeker-rn1tm2 жыл бұрын
Basically, scrap this lot, listen to People Move On. It contains all the best guitar solos of all time....let alone by just this one man. Bernard you are fucking amazing and hands down my favourite guitarist ever!

my favourite guitarists are Hank B. Marvin and Joe Brown, Englishmen who got started in the 1950s, but Butler might just be the best 1990s guitarist.

My opinion, sorry I have no opinion on this. But the strumming on The Power is grand, pure gutter glamour. I think in terms of gutter glamour it is wonderful work. But not art in the same way as Johnny Marr did it who is probably a better guitarist in a better band. I think I am going to study his guitar tabs. I believe the tone is distortion going to AC30 amp. He may not be a genius guitarist but I like that gutter glamour which makes him more of a humanistic guitarist of which there are few. I believe he is between Robin Trower and Don Mcclain, some may call this the middle of nowhere like Neil Young, but I like it. P. S ZIG ZACK BY RAMMSTEIN IS ALSO AMAZING AND SIMPLE. THERE NEW SINGLE.
