Without antistatic powder I usually just use a small brush to take the excess powder off, of course it takes longer, and you can mess up the design if you’re not careful but it’s a good way to start

I tried stamping about 10 years ago with a couple wood stamps and gave up quickly. I'm too shaky and never got a good image. Second time around about three years ago I wanted to try again and bought a Misti. I've been hooked ever since! My stamp press has also helped my hand pain/weakness! Lastly, watching crafters like you is my #1 most important tool! You help people feel confident that they too can try this! Thanks, Cathy!

Hi Cathy. I have never commented before on your videos. You DO make me laugh a lot :) I bought a silicone mat. off amazon about a year ago. Measures 15"x24", 1/8" thick, blue color. I LOVE this mat. Keeps work area CLEAN, ink pads don't slide about, can ink blend on it and then the ink just wipes off, can heat emboss and not worry about the heat. Glitter does stick - put EVERYTHING glitter, ink, glue wipes right off with a baby wipe. LOVE this thing!! Best think I have purchased since the Misty. try it - you'll LOVE it!! Have not tried alcohol inks - don't believe those would wipe off :) - still use glass for that. ha ha

I have everything you have and I would have to say they are also my top 5. Last year my stamping platform had an hinge break. I so love gorilla glue. I glued it and the next day it worked as if nothing happened. When I first saw the platforms years ago I knew I had to get one and I have never regretted it. I have 5 pairs of the reverse tweezers, they all scattered all over my craft room.

Reverse tweezers are a game changer - seriously! I love the oh so pretty Studio Katia Embellishment / 'BOOP' wand - but not the black tip! Anti-static anything is essential when heat embossing. I really like your favorite tools. I just agree with you about the ISTI! It is my most favorite tools that I cannot live without! I have them in all three sizes!
@beoneofthemany2 жыл бұрын
Happy New Year Cathy! Like you, I'm a graphic designer and also started card making 5 years ago. My list includes 4 other must have tools you didn't mention but I'd have given up this hobby without them. 1) a heat gun, 2) manual or electric die cutting machine, 3) a good pair of sharp fussy-cutting scissors, and 5) a clear, acetate grid sheet used to line up sentiments before committing them to final ink. I also invested in a Mini Misti, then went for the larger Tim Holtz stamp positioner (before the patent stuff), but ended up much preferring the less bulky, much less expensive, "Precision Stamp Press" purchased from Art Supply Source. Because of the larger size and 3 open sides, It's has become my go-to stamp platform and highly recommend it.
@czdesign2 жыл бұрын
Totally agree with all of these!

I just ordered the precision stamp press at the suggestion of another KZbin card maker and am excited to try it. I love my misti(s) but often craft with friends and neighbors and would love to have both extra platforms for them to use, and a product to suggest to them that has a lower price point.

Excellent! Love top 5 suggestions. Embossing powder bag is the bomb. Often see attempts to emboss but there's embossing powder left in places where don't want and embossing ends up wonky. And using a paint brush to remove a lot of wayward power seems tedious with potential to mess up the design - I'd likely end up doing just that. 🙄 Thanks!
