I love everything you mentioned, but let’s stop calling purchases, or things you spend money on “investments”. It’s a euphemism for shopping/spending and there is nothing wrong with that.

Eleonore Bon I think Lizzy is trying to make exactly the opposite point - a purchase is something you just buy and that's the end of it. An investment is a purchase which provides something for you, maybe it makes you happy or it benefits you in some way, but it serves a purpose in your life on a bigger scale than the dress you bought in Zara on a whim. But I do agree taht there's nothing wrong with purchases because sometimes a spade is indeed just a spade. :)

Philippa Wood | I understand that’s how we justify our purchases, we hope to benefit from them in the long run (gym memberships, non-fast fashion clothes). No one likes to waste money. But that does not make it an investment. In the bloggers world that seems to be a word to differentiate from just randomly spending, but an investment is really something that should increase in value in time. The things mentioned in this video, except perhaps that coffee table, are really just purchases. Calling them investments is just a way to make yourself feel better about yourself. But you’ve simply bought something that you think you will enjoy for a long time. And that’s fine.

I had always had a personal trainer, I know exactly what you mean about having someone to help you reach your fit and health goals...since I moved to the US I am missing having one, can’t wait to start training again! I am always concerned by the fashion blogger use of "investment" for items which do not appreciate in value. An hermes bag could definitely be an investment, but little else fashion is.
