Islay peated scotch all the way!

I’m a bourbon drinker and I’m dabbling in scotch. Definitely not a big fan of peat. Having said that, I’ve found several scotches I do enjoy: - Lagavulin Offerman rum cask - Ardbeg BizarreBQ - Ardbeg Heavy Vapours committee release - a Highland Park that I’ve forgotten - Balvenie 21 Not sure if this list makes me an object of derision because I don’t know enough about scotch.

Thanks for the comment. Ardbeg and Lagavulin are typically peated. What bourbon would you recommend?

Great episode! Are you also going to be doing one the other way around like 'My top bourbon picks for scotch drinker'? I started with scotch and now have 90% scotch at home. I have tried a few bottles of bourbon but not a whole lot of luck there except for 2 bottles, one is Russel's Reserve Single Barrel and the other is Wild Turkey Rare Breed. There are both cask strength. Though they smell totally different from scotch. /Saran (Thailand)

Thanks so much for the comment, I really appreciate it. I just don't have enough bourbon knowledge to do a video in reverse. Would love for a bourbon specialist to suggest their best bourbon for Scotch drinkers. 🥃

I like the Balvenie 17 doublewood but unfortunately was discontinued in 2021

Yes! Very sad indeed! If I manage to find another bottle I'll be making sure to savour it a little longer than the previous two.

These aren’t enjoyable scotch whiskies to me as I have gone way past them on my scotch journey. These were never expressions I found complex. I don’t like the sweetness in Bourbon and I find scotch to be a far more sophisticated spirit. These are very much beginner scotch choices. Not much to them. There are so many that are better even for Bourbon drinkers.

Hi Christine, thanks for the comment. I'm really curious what un-peated Scotch you would recommend?
