Hi Randy, I enjoy your videos. I started fishing plastic worms many years ago. Didn't have proper worms hooks, Just used snelled hooks I had. In the years since then, I used proper hooks and rigged the worm straight like they always say you should, but in fact, when I rigged with snelled hooks the head of the worm would be sort of cocked and this made the worms swim in a really effective way. I stopped doing that because I wanted to fish "properly", but in fact, swimming the worm back cockeyed was very effective and it definitely had a swimming quality which a straight rigged worm does not.. Next time I fish worms I'm going to try that again. I think it is a very effective way to fish a worm if you are swimming it.

I’ve never understood the concept of the offset hooks not having good hook up ratios, I use an offset hook on everything soft plastic and land 99% of the fish that hit my lure, maybe I’ve just learned my timing with the hooks who knows
@kevinbeaudean7042 жыл бұрын
No I agree , that hybrid gamma Randy used is the hook I use and it DOESN'T miss. Stick to your guns.
@anthonysmith39312 жыл бұрын
99% that's crazy good. I catch the fish I actually get a hook n them to start with but I miss 50% of my hits at times. Alot of it is small fish I guess.
@malikstiffler2 жыл бұрын
@@anthonysmith3931 it’s all about timing man, and knowing if the fish has actually committed make sure your line is already moving for a few seconds then set your hook, once you get used to it you’ll learn to tell the difference between getting hit and the fish actually eating the lure

I definitely like zoom speed worm's & Zmans aswell. I fish them similarly but I also texas rige them & craw on bottom slowly, just fast enough to get the tail to thump. Clarks hill is a great lake the dam & Savannah river it's 20 minutes from my house . I've just been fishing it for a year now sense we moved from southwest OH. So I'm still exploring alot, caught alot good largemouth, spots & striper!
@benniebailey72792 жыл бұрын
Randy, I’ve seen several posts about which part of the speed worm should be up or down. Before rigging, you said the tail should be up (it appeared the point was up). After rigging it looked like the point was down. I’m sure either way would probably work but I want to make sure I understand it to get the best action. Thanks for sharing your fishing knowledge. I always enjoy your videos.

Hey Randy, this may seem unrelated to this video but I saw your swim worm video that you said you learned from Doug Hannon. Shortly after that a Doug Hannon video came up. You've probably seen it but just in case you haven't I wanted to pass it on. The youtube title is "Doug Hannon-The Bass Professor-Catching Big Bass (1986)" . I used to when I was a kid, throw a Texas rigged worm (6" purple worm with a white tail) a light weight. I would cast it and then just reel it in. I would vary my retrieve speeds but honestly I really did not know the best way to fish a plastic worm at that time, now I do. Thanks for sharing this with us and what are your thoughts on using a skip gap hook instead? Just curious and any info is appreciated! :)

Randy remember the helicopter lure hook it had the swivel on it well I had a bunch of them hooks I got somewhere and still have a fue of them and that hook and swivel with a worm is awesome for this method but shines on the floating worm that’s where I started using it in the early 90’s and have caught way over a thousand fish on it because it has just enough to pull the nose down since and slow

Not to beat a dead horse but I’m confused. If the tail curls the opposite way from the hook as you specifically point out, wouldn’t the hook act as the keel weight and make the tail run down? Sorry for being so dense but want to get it right and can’t wait to try it. Thanks for all of the videos.
