I have just over 1600 clips uploaded and sell between $250-300 per month. It's weird what sells but I do have one clip that has sold well over 50 times earning as low as $1.11 to $195. The funny thing is that clip I should over 8 years ago before I got into stock and I shot it for fun. Keep uploading. It's nice to have some passive income.
@NicoleGlass2 жыл бұрын
Yeah the range in prices is interesting. Some people get upset about those $1.11 sales, but over the course of a clip's lifetime you could be earning well into the thousands from it. Keep it up

@NicoleGlass2 жыл бұрын
As many as you can! Best way is to just gradually and continuously upload videos whenever you have new ones. That way you don't get overwhelmed and you slowly start to build a large portfolio. There's no need to put them into the same upload. Strive to have a few hundred videos up and then eventually get into the thousands. Not an overnight process for sure.

Thank you Nicole for the good constant tips. I'm more into still stock photography rather than vids, but I was just testing the water by uploading a 4k video on Adobe stock. It was downloaded 3 times so far, but the total earnings of that file was $2.88 !! :( I thought stock footage is more profitable than a still image. Anyways Is that similar at your end?

2:40 could you explain how is this possible? I have thought that you or shutterstock sets the price which is something like 50$ or 100$ depending on the video resolution, but why would someone buy a clip for 1000$? It doesn't make any sense, sounds like a auction for me. If you could open this up, it would be really helpful. Great content by the way!
@tomask.3983 Жыл бұрын
I think this might have to do with the licensing. Don´t know anything about it but noticed there are different types of licensing for stock media, depending largely on HOW you want to use it. Maybe some company bought the footage to use it for some purpose not covered by standard och extended licenses and therefore had to pay a custom amount of money.

Thanks for sharing Nicole! Can I ask, with your iPhone videos, do you fix the shutter speed with the 180 rule or do you let the iPhone automate those settings and just hit record?
@NicoleGlass2 жыл бұрын
Hi Maddie! I just shoot with the iPhone camera at 4k 60fps and 4k 24fps depending on whether or not I plan to slow the footage down. Other than that I don't change anything on the phone. I'm usually just pulling out the phone if I don't have my camera with me for some reason and I see something worthy of recording.

Hi Nicole welcome back just curious I have never edited a video before only photos. I plan on using my iPhone so what program do you recommend? Thanks in advance and Happy Holidays to you.
@NicoleGlass2 жыл бұрын
I use Adobe Premiere Pro but you can use other programs too. (Adobe Rush is easier to learn). You don't have to do much to the footage, usually I'll just remove the audio and slow down the footage if I shot in 60fps.

@@NicoleGlass Thanks for taking the time to answer. I'm going to experiment uploading clips with audio on Pond5 to see if there is a difference in sales, but only when it makes sense to the clip, like waves crashing, or a car starting, and of course with a good recorder, not the so-so microphone of the camera. Cheers!

What is the best way to get your stock videos and photos through the review process and up on market faster?
@NicoleGlass2 жыл бұрын
The review process is unfortunately not under our control. Sometimes it takes forever, which is not good when your footage is newsworthy. I have sent Pond5 an e-mail before asking them to expedite the review of some highly newsworthy footage, and they did it almost instantly.

I have a handful of photographs of the Las Vegas airport absolutely empty during the beginning of the pandemic. As well as a handful of photographs of signage/flowers from George Floyd’s memorial in Minneapolis that was shot like maybe a week after his murder. Both of which are just kind of sitting around on my hard drive collecting dust. They were just shot on a Rebel T6 at the time before I upgraded my equipment pretty substantially in the last year and a half. Would those be worth uploading to some stock website? If so, where?
@LateBoomer19642 жыл бұрын

I have been searching around for advice on this process, and really enjoy your videos. One thing I don't fully understand is where the line is for needing a model release. I can't imagine that you got model releases from everyone in your BLM video you showed us here. How do you determine when you need them? Thanks a lot for all the great videos!

Would you say that generally you put all clips/pics on all sites or do you curate which sites get which uploads? Curious if your top seller on one site is also on another site and how the sales compare.
@NicoleGlass2 жыл бұрын
A little bit of both. If I have a set of clips from say, a protest, I might decide to put 1 or 2 on all sites and the other 5 on Pond5 exclusive. That's just an example, but I sometimes put clips on my exclusive Pond5 account and sometimes upload them to all platforms. All the clips mentioned in this video, however, are uploaded to all 3 sites I mentioned.
