Without fail I always do my level 1 days. I do struggle with the 30 mins a day. I am suffering quite badly with depression but today I did my 30 mins checklist (took me 4 hours but I did it) gonna try n do it everyday.

I so get the struggle to stick to 30 minutes. I have physical and focus issues that make that difficult. And I have more spaces in my house that need all levels of cleaning done on a regular basis, plus I'm still boot camping some areas. I've been at this for a few months now, and my house IS getting cleaner and tidier inspite of myself lol. But after alot of trial and error, I've finally figured out how to break the tasks to more reasonable time limits for me. I took tips from Gemma, and from The Clutter bug and here's what I came up with: About the time: I have to focus on more that one area a day for level 2 and 3 jobs, with 3 bathrooms, a pantry that is actually a former bedroom and an outside area that is in serious boot camp mode. There is no way I can make a significant impact on more than one area each day if I stick to 30 minutes. Sooooo... 1. Bathrooms get light dusting, mirrors, sinks and toilets daily, so that I never have to deep clean them. I do those while I walking around doing a few quick daily tasks...or even while doing relaxing activities...and they don't all get done at the same time so that there's always a bathroom available for use. I don't time those..it's just a,quick dust, quicks spirits, scrub the bowl, wipe and air dry. While I'm in the area busy with another task. Showers and floors are weekly, doing one bathroom a day, in addition to another Level 2 area. My level 3 bathroom jobs are walls, baseboards, and cleaning out shelves, cabinets and drawers. If a,level 3 task looks clean already, I skip it and move onto the next. I do set my timer for 30 minutes for larger and more heavily used rooms and 15 minutes for each bathroom and smaller area. And my days off are not always the same 2 days. Soooo... my time looks like this: Level 2 Days: Day1: Kitchen (3O min.) 1st bathroom (15) Total: 45 min Day 2: Living Room (30) 2nd bathroom (15) Total (45) Day 3: Master Bedroom (30) Master Bathroom (15) Total (45) Day 4: Laundry area and hallway (30) Pantry= in Boot camp right now (15) Outside area= Boot camp (30) Total: (75) Level 3= Day 5 Focus Weeks 1-3: one bathroom per week (15 nin) One other area (30 min) Vacuum: Sofa Dive, Level 3 detailed vacuuming in that week's level 3 areas, then just a quick sweep through the rest of the house with the vacuum cleaner (about 45 minutes) Total time for Day 5: 90 minutes I vacuum one day a week because I have pets that would seriously hide on our bed and pee if I vacuumed every day, even if it's only for a few minutes a day. Since I have mostly hard floors, they get swept every day, and each aree gets mopped once a week on that area's level 2 day. So, I apologize for a lengthy comment. I have trouble keeping things brief. Sometimes I succeed, but most of the time not so much lol. So that is somewhat of a run down on how I break things up. Again, my daily tasks are not listed, except for bathrroms. I do not time my dailies. I just do them as they need to be done and I do them in small bites as I go about the rest of my day. As for the timed tasks, I really fo try to stick to a timer and stop when it goes off. I will pick up where I left off the next time I do that level in that area. Also, mowing the lawn is not included in my lists or schedule. That's a huge job with a riding mower that I just fit into my calendar as a separate to do. That's actually about my favorite housekeeping job, so I don't mind setting aside time about every other week. It gets me outside and it's way easier on me physically than the other housework. Anyway, I've come to accept that I need more than 30 minutes a day, and figured out how long some things take me, and can now make myself stop when my time is up, even if it doesn't all get done. Oh, and weeks 4 and 8 are reset weeks for me, where on days 1-4 I catch up on missed tasks from each day's areas from the previous weeks, and on Day 5 I catch up on missed tasks from each Level 3 area from the previous 3 weeks, Or I work on another area that doesn't get cleaned regularly. And on Reset week, I still stick to the regular time limits for each area and do as much as I can each area. Again, I apologize for such a long comment. I just really empathize with your struggle, and I found what seems to be working for me and wanted to share it with you incase any of it will be of help to you. My greatest advice is to be gracious to yourself on where you are struggling be realistic about how long each task takes you to do and set your timer according to how much time you actually can manage to spend on that area or on that task. Don't look for perfection, just look at a good enough end result as your goal. And be proud of each small or big accomplishment, because it's the little things that add up and make it so much easier longer you stick to it. I hope that helps and gives you someencouragement. .

Hi Gemma. Was thinking of doing this last night in bed. So this has come at a good time for me . My problem ( in life, in general) is keeping things going . I start stuff but never finish them off, eg do it again the next day! Feeling incredibly low this morning! Xxx

Is there a reason you don't have the kitchen on the tomm...isbit because it is just assumed dishes will be done?

I've been doing your method for several months and I love it! However, after a lot of trial and error, I've made a lot of adjustments to where it's more like TOMM/3-WAVE combined. I have a 1 floor house with 3 bathrooms, and no working dish washer. My 2 days off change every few weeks, so I number the days 1-7. On Level 2 and 3 days, I focus on 1 type of job instead of one room or area. So, each room or area gets some level 2 and level 3 cleaning each week, even if it's just one little section. And, the next week, each time I do one job around the house, I'll , work on the next section of each room. If I go into a room and the next section doesn't need to be done, I move on. As for detailed vacuuming, on vacuum day, I do one small level 3 section in each room only if needed. So, my week looks like this: Day 1: Wand dust high ends and corners and ceiling fans Quick swipe mirrors and windows Clean bathroom sinks Time: 30 minutes Day2: Clean/dust hard surfaces (including kitchen counters behind things) Clean toilets Time: About 45 minutes (Only spend 5 minutes or less on surfaces in each room/area) Day 3: Level 3 Focus (just 5 minutes or less in each room/area, including bathrooms, OR, Focus on area that is druving me the most crazy). Time: About 1 hrs Day 4: Showers (if needed) mop only rooms and areas that really need it, plus bathrooms Time: 30 min to 1 hr Day 5: Vacuum: Level 3 (one small section that needs it in each room Level 1: finish each area with just a quick run through. Time: 45 minutes Doing it this way, I don't have to worry at all if I miss a day or even a whole week. Each area will still get attention the next cleaning day, including both level 2 and 3 jobs. And if I don't have more than 30 minutes to spare, I just do small errands chunks in each area and call it a day. As for the outside, I have a very large yard, and have come to the conclusion that that's a whole separate beast that I have to fit into my weekly schedule around everything else. But I'm OK with that, because weeding and mowing the lawn on my riding mower are my favorite jobs and so they get listed as a separate life activity from house cleaning. Day 6: off Day 7 off Also, my Focus level 3 day is on Day 3 instead of Day 5, so that I can get it done before I mop and vacuum. This was the only way I could figure out to break the jobs down so that no room or area gets neglected, without spending all day cleaning. I haven't done it this way for a dull week yet, but so far, it's been extremely do able, even on days like yesterday when I was feeling extremely lazy and tured. I just put 9ff my level 2 cleaning until it was time to start dinner, and went through the house doing my 30 minutes of level 2 cleaning while prepping dinner. Then, I was freed up to do the daily kitchen cleaning while I cooked. The rest of the day was just quick little 5 minute pick-ups as 8 went about doing other more important things, like spend time with my hubby and fur kids.

I'm still trying to figure out how to make this work for me. While 30 minutes sounds short, I'm thinking it may be too long for me. I may have to change to 15 min or even 10min for this stage of my life with the thought something is better than nothing.

There are cleans that length on her guided cleans - rock the housework .... and a variety too so you can shuffle them up on each rooms so periodically through the 8 weeks each corner of the room will still get a clean.
