That mothers day episode, man... TT-TT A lot of these episodes I totally forgot about, but this video is a good memory refresher! The one I remember the most (besides the Mothers Day one) was the Passover episode. I guess cause it was fascinating learning about a holiday I wasn't familiar with (complete with innocent little babies acting out a historical story filled with slavery and genocide!) but they showed it in a way that felt so homey and made you feel warm and fuzzy inside. From then on, when I'd see "Passover" on the calendar, I remember "Oh, that's celebrating Jews gaining freedom from Egypt!.... I learned that from The Rugrats!" lol. That, and there was this joke about unleavened bread being cookies or something, but I remembered it once I got older and it was suddenly a lot funnier.

Yeah, Rugrats was one of the few cartoon shows to ever have a Hanukkah episode, and I'm sure it taught a lot of kids about the holiday. :) I'll probably have to invest in getting the show on DVD someday, if the price is reasonable.

You picked some of my favorites, too. Actually, I JUST watched the Mother's Day episode last night and it holds up beautifully even beyond the Chuckie plot. Tommy's memory of Didi still makes me smile, and Betty was awesome. At The Movies is one of my favorite early episodes. As someone who watched the Care Bears movie a million times as a kid, I appreciated the parody and Grandpa's snark. And The Odd Couple is too relatable, learning to live with people is something you have to learn and re-learn because it's always different depending on the person. Especially if they're your opposite!

RUGRATS!!!! In my opinion Rugrats is the greatest kids cartoon of all time and I think your list is very accurate. I would have included a bit more Dil and Kimmy episodes but you named some very unique ones that most ppl don't know about it remember. Great list

Great list! Candy Bar Creep Show is one of my favorite episodes! I made a similar video not that long ago, showing my top 5 most iconic episodes of Rugrats. What blows my mind about this show is how much it impacted a whole generation. There are so many good episodes!

A personal favourite of mine is "Farewell, my Friend". Like the episode "The Odd Couple" it points out how different not only how different Tommy and Chuckie are but in a way it also shows that Tommy is something of a bad friend to Chuckie. Someone who always forces you to do something you don't feel comfortable doing but also something that could be down right dangerous is not a good friend. It's an episode that teaches two great lessons in listening to each other and knowing when to stand up for yourself and saying no.

My personal favorite is Angelica’s Worst Nightmare. I feel that so many kids that were only children at first would relate to what Angelica was feeling when her parents were going to have their 2nd child.

Yeah, this show was great at depicting those primal fears that all kids go through at some point---stuff that doesn't seem like a big deal to adults, but is life shattering for a kid who's experiencing all this for the first time.

Yeah, the series before the movies was pretty much the golden age of the show. There WERE good episodes in the Dil and Kimi eras too, but going off just the ones that I remember the most, it's all from the pre-movie era.

I do think Rugrats was one of the more consistent long running cartoons out there only because while I do find the later seasons to be more generic and uninspired, there was still plenty of good episodes to be found. Plus, the characters were still likeable and the show still had good moral values which actually became more of the focus after the movies. I take it over the later seasons of Spongebob Squarepants and The Fairly Oddparents anyday. Also, this is something I just found out. Did you hear that Stephen Hillenburg recently just passed away? It's very sad to see a legend fly away from us. ;(

@@ToonGal12 well I do think the first 3 seasons were the best, but seasons 4-5, the seasons right before dill were pretty good. Remember the one when they went to the car wash or when angelica learned to curse word or the one where the babies hide to cross the black top playground. I think the later seasons weren't bad. They just weren't as funny or adventurous as the early seasons. After Dil and Kimmy, the show became more about the lives of the babies instead if their adventures.

Oh yeah, the later seasons with Dil and Kimmi DO have some gems in there. And I DO remember the car wash and the curse word episode. But like you said, as time went on, they seemed to move more and more away from the imagination stuff.

I loved the mother day episode I made my family watch it because they kept asking well I was watching rugrats recently “What happened to chukies real mom?!” So tired of explaining it I played that episode to them which explains it well! And my mom almost cried at the end. Tho she stopped herself because she realized “wait I can’t be crying over a kids show.” But overall the whole family liked it. So 10/10 already

Ive pretty much learned that all episodes on this list are only from seasons 1 2 3 and 4 maybe if there is a part 2 we can have seasons 5 6 7 8 or 9 but I’m not saying it’s a big deal or anything

why did they stop acting like babies from ages 1-3 when they got to season 6.

ToonGal12 and another thing, i don't get why they didn't do a 4 month skip after they introduced Dil. that way he wouldn't be an object and would basically be like Tommy when he met the other babies. Tommy was 5 months there. i mean much like Kimi, Dil also had potential and in the first movie at least had an arc where he learned it wasn't all about him and he had to share with tommy, the same way tommy had to learn to share with dil. So they should've just aged him up to 4 months so him and tommy could go on adventures, he could even look up to tommy and even want to be brave like him although he wants to do it now like tommy. They could've had a bond like Rainbowdash and Scootaloo, or Piccolo and Gohan, but no, he has to be an object only meant to make the babies babysit and create idiotic terms like "baby babies" seriously i'd rather watch seasons 6-7 with my idea and not have him shunted like he was in seasons 8-9 like Lulu, Spike, Fifi, and all the other characters they created in favor of Taffy, who i for one consider the worst rugrats character ever with her lingo, her annoying personality and even just hearing her call the babies "minis" annoys me greatly, even Chas and Kira were basically shunted in season 9 even though honestly their relationship was easily the best part of season 8 despite how we didn't get that much. But what about you? i think it's tragic what happened behind the scenes, especially considering how amazing the first 5 seasons are with their fun adventures and their adult wit and edge which was replaced with annoying characters and dumbed down righting to the point of being comparable to the muppet babies while at the same time ruining established characters like Stu and especially Susie, in the last 2 seasons Susie was just as bad if not worse than Angelia, which would be iffy at best IF IT WAS INTENTIONAL LIKE ANGELICA, but no, they make her a stuck up know it all who's good at everything instead of being the opposite of Angelica like in the first 7 seasons and the first 2 movies. at best seasons 6-7 were mediocre but had their moments like Old Country and Acorn Nuts and Diapey Butts, the latter of which was a real tearjerker for me and an amazing prelude to Rugrats in Paris which in itself was a great movie. Which is even more baffling with the last 2 seasons being really bad when by all logic Rugrats in Paris should've rejuvenated the brand, which is what i felt, especially since Dil was a character again and Kimi was actually likable, which is even worst because after the movie Dil was permanently relegated to being an object only this time without any dialogue or any of the character which at least were carried over for seasons 6-7 and rugrats in paris, and Kimi became the most irritating character in the show until we got Taffy, she causes nothing but trouble and much like with Dil where most episodes just focused on Tommy, the stories now only focused on Chuckie and Kimi, the latter of whom i can't stand. It's a shame what happened behind the scenes to with issues amongst the writers and creators because of the original 3 Rugrats will always be my favorite, and especially considering how my genuine love and tearjerking moments were in the season 7 finale and rugrats in paris as well as adventure were all gone in favor of baby nonsense with none of the edge and adventure of seasons 1-5 and even 6-7 as if they acted like none of that stuff they did in their second movie would be enjoyed had they done it in the new episode so they doubled down to the point of parody which ultimately led to its own demise in 2004.

My favorite episodes are the ones with Susie Carmichael and the episodes where the Rugrats go on imaginary adventures, like Mega Diaper Babies and Radio Daze. It was nice to see the gang meet other babies, like Big Justin, Wise Guy, the Junk Food Kid, and Belinda. Speaking of Susie, I noticed that you didn't put any of her episodes on your list and that only one of them was in the runner ups. What's your opinion on the character?

Same. Rugrats is at its best when the babies are having their imagination adventures. As for Susie, she's another nice character, and it was always a nice surprise whenever she popped up; basically being the anti-Angelica. Nothing wrong with her episodes. I guess it's just that the ones that made my list stood out in my memory more is all.

Although my top 10 is different from yours, this is a really well made list, with legit reasons to like said episodes. Might be an irrelevant statement following but I found this video through a search on the worst Rugrats episodes, out of my curiosity. The top two searches were both horribly made and one those lists actually put "The Odd Couple" in the worst list, which I disagree since I did actually like "The Odd Couple." I really wish more good reviewers made top 10's regarding this great show I grew up with.
