Tent recommendation: I have used the Tarptent Notch. I just purchased the Tarptent Notch-Li (dyneema composite fabric). This tent is the lightest double-wall tent; it’s just a tent fly over fine netting, which are attached to a bathtub floor. As you know, a double-wall tent seriously cuts down on condensation. BTW: a wonderful video.

Good recommendations. Dyneema is pretty expensive though, and almost see-through 😄

Excellent video. I own a Big Agnes Copper Spur UL2 and I couldn't be happier (since you are interested in the Tiger Wall). I see no food weight disclosure in your pack list. Did you re-stuff your food when you visited the towns? Was it easy to find water sources along the trail? Thanks for your videos!!
@LennartSchoors2 жыл бұрын
Thanks. I brought food for about 4 days (I'm guessing 2500g?), and did resupply in the towns indeed. There are plenty of grocery stores, refuges, restaurants… There are also lots of water sources too, and I usually carried about 1-2 liters at a time.

Hi Lennart! It is fantastic video❤. Nice footage and atmosphere. Congratualtions. Do you think beginning of October TMB is still accesible? I mean the trail you have been hiking?
@LennartSchoors Жыл бұрын
Thanks. In October a lot of the huts and restaurants will be closed for the season, and you might even see the first snow on the passes, but it should be accessible I think.

Well made and nice job mate! About the horses, did you attempt to scare them off or was it just a really intimidating situation? I've had a couple of "intrusive" situations where animals (goats, cows, dogs...) were taking things too far. Usually some big arm waving and yelling something along the lines of "f*ck *ff!!!" helped me.
@LennartSchoors2 жыл бұрын
I gave the first one a gentle push, to no avail. I had no idea how 10 horses would react to me shouting or waving, and I didn't want to stirr the hornet's nest. I assumed they would quickly lose interest, but they took 40 minutes. 🥲 Maybe they were just defending their territory?

Hi Lennart... just found your super video when researching for my hike of the TMB starting in 5 weeks today 😀 just have a question for you if you don't mind.. I'm aiming to wild camp as much as I can and interested in your first two nights camping beside the lakes.. where they private spots you found and did you have any hassle/trouble with rangers? Thanks Gary Ireland
@LennartSchoors2 жыл бұрын
Hi Gary, the first night was a somewhat secluded spot near the Col de Balme hut. Just pitched pretty late (after 8pm) and left very early too, so chances of being spotted were slim anyway. The second night was at the lake at La Flégère, where you're allowed to stay. Especially at higher altitudes (2000m+) you should't really run into problems. Switzerland is pretty strict though, so I booked a camping spot there.
@garyglennon25662 жыл бұрын
@@LennartSchoors Oh great.. did you book the second night with the Refuge close by the lake or another night in Switzerland?
@LennartSchoors2 жыл бұрын
@@garyglennon2566 At La Flégère I just asked, no need for booking. In Switzerland (Camping Des Glaciers in La Fouly) I booked online the day before.

Climbing a ladder with a backpack is not something I like doing. I would detour or avoid the whole trail, no matter how small a section it is. Eliminate the risk of ruin, yet take as much risk as possible in life.
