I like your realistic expectations for credit card use while out of the country. As someone who also travels quite frequently, I will never rely on Amex for credit card purchases since they're not commonly accepted as compared to Visa or MC. Most of these so-called credit card experts on KZbin like to gloat about the Amex Gold or Platinum. But most fail to mention they dont provide any value while traveling out of the country, and their acceptance is questionable from vendor to vendor.

Such a powerful duo when you're overseas. I've found that some restaurants in Europe weirdly don't code as restaurants, so you really can't go wrong with just getting 2x points on your international spend. Great stuff Luke!

I have the capital one duo and I just canceled my Amex gold card. I truly believe that very very few people come out ahead with the gold card and I think it’s brilliant on the part of Amex.

@@kevinonthank here’s the thing with the gold, even if it doesn’t make actual sense money-wise, it still can be an amazing MR points generator. I just wouldn’t keep it long term unless you’re going for a strategy I in which earning points is the only goal. Because at the end of the day, is $250 all that much money? Not really but 3-4 years + that adds up

Im not sure what this has to do with using cards that are actually accepted overseas but...... what make an MR point more valuable than a Cap1 miles if they're both getting transferred out to AeroPlan or Flying Blue or if they're both being used to cover the cost of travel at 1cpp? Amex has more and better partners but to earns MR points I need to give Amex a lot of money to pay the game.

Well after making over 300 video for free, I thought it might be a good idea to make a few sponsored videos. They’re easy to scroll past if you’re not interested. At some point it becomes difficult to dedicate a lot of time to making videos without being compensated. If it makes you feel better the money I earn generally goes back into the channel in one form or another.

I’m kind of regretting transferring my Capital One Miles to Virgin with their recent transfer bonus. Kind of wishing I had kept for Turkish because as I was looking for some Asia flights within Europe and Asia Turkish miles would’ve come in handy, although I could still book most of them with Aeroplan or life Miles.
