Good and bad news guys! Been in touch with Benro and they currently no longer make a flat tripod which is a big mistake in my opinion. The good news is they have released an upgraded version of this tripod which is available in the UK, US and rest of the world. Link in the description of this video. 😊

2.2kg is very heavy for a tripod! You seemed to have trivialised the weight. When you travel, you want to be as light as possible. Every half a kg makes a difference! (Any surprise why many have made the switch to mirrorless cameras?) There are many other better lightweight tripods out there. Even for every day, non-travel use, I wouldn't carry 2.2kg around.
@theschoolofphotography6 жыл бұрын
Hi Andrew, I've took that weight around for years, not a problem for me. Get down the gym and save yourself a few quid. Thanks 😊

Nice video. Carbon fiber is not just a weight advantage, it has better vibration absorption, stability and cold temperatures properties.
@brianbrooking4964 жыл бұрын
edmendoza photography like all physics it depends on numerous variables. Coefficient of restitution, excitation frequency (resonance), initial vibration magnitude (clumsy handling), terrain it’s planted on, weather, temperature to name but a few. The point is, what is best for you and your photography and budget.ideally I’d like to buy an expensive more sturdy tripod than my current. However with a a 2 sec timer, I have pin sharp images.or I could just get a remote. What tripod do you use and under what conditions, studio v landscape/outdoors? Give me your feedback as I’m in market for a new tripod and would love to hear about your model and results.maybe share some of your pics?

@@brianbrooking496 My choice was a Sirui T024SK. Carbon fiber (what else for a TRAVEL tripod?) and its weight is 994g including Arca compatible ballhead. It's sturdy enough to hold my EOS RP with 300/4 with low vibration. Only the middle column shouldn't be extended more than half. Prive was under 200€ in germany. Regards.

The biggest dilemma for me in choosing a travel tripod was choosing a light ( weight ) and low (height) model , or going for a slightly heavier model that was taller - in the end , I opted for the latter .So many people think that because you are willing to lug around such gear , you must be a pro ( especially if you are willing to use it in water ( for waterfall pictures etc) ) . One thing for folk wishing to buy any type of tripod , is the weight the are going to put on it ( camera body and lens etc) .I actually wrecked my last tripod because it wasn't designed for a DSLR body and heavy nature lens - ooops !!. BTW , SOME travel tripods have spikes you can screw into the tripod legs for extra stability in ( soggy) ground , which is also something to look out for

A quick search of US camera stores shows this tripod as no longer available. Nevertheless, I have a stupid question: Could the extension piece be used as a "selfie stick" (I hate that term)? I am thinking that it could, at a pinch, be used in place of a gimbal.

Hi, thanks for sharing this link with people. I think it may be a smaller version of the one I show in the video and it doesn't pack flat. Check first before buying. As for the selfie stick thing, yes I thought the same thing :) It won't work like a gimbal though. Thanks again 👍

Hi Martin, that might be because it's the UK link. Try copying and pasting the product name into the Ireland amazon site and see if they've got it. You never know. Good luck.

While the weight of the tripod in and of itself isnt a lot.. when you actually pack for hikes and or camping etc.. literally every ounce counts. and it becomes cumulative. a few kilo's here a few kilos there, and it gets out of hand quickly. If the camera you mention in the e.g. is 5kilos, and the tripod is almost 3 kilos.. thats 8 right there, throw in some spare batteries, maybe another lens, what if you have a 70-200 f2.8 (like me?) thats another 3 kilos.. I agree tho, 100% i'd rather carry a lighter camera, than lighten the weight on the tripod thats gonna hold it up for me when needed. also. about the sand bag use.. you dont actually carry around a full bag of sand.. you carry an empty bag, and fill it on location.. stumbled across this video researching this tripod.. still on the fence about it tho. good vid cheers

Tripod buying is a quite confusing process as there is so much choice from ultra-cheap to well-known budget brands (Newer and C&F Concept?) then to Vanguard and beyond; I found choosing a camera much simpler. Out of interest, after three years are you still using this tripod?

It's not a purchase , it's an investment !!.My last tripod lasted well over 10 years , and I expect my present one to age just as gracefully - so do the maths , and do the research , and see how much the tripod is REALLY costing you ( per year )

Loved the tripod....until I saw the price, nearly choked, I'll stick with my Manfroto, £18 off eBay and a monopod lol can you review a tripod more realisticly priced, otherwise I'll have to stick with my natural travel tripod i.e. a wall, a table, a chair, a rock lol

Nice video, but it appears to me that the “hook” of this tripod is that it folds flat...My main criterion is Stability. I recently came across a fantastic travel tripod by Leofoto...the LN-254CT carbon fiber tripod...It has a superb ball head with some outstanding features: A panoramic Head is included! Also, each knob/control is a different shape and/texture, which minimizes the possibility of unintended adjustments! Also, it’s 10x carbon fiber, with a maximum payload of 22lbs. Thank you.
