India Flint! Wow! My fellow Australian and huge inspiration, even though I know just a tad of her work. What a great thing to do for yourself. We all need special gems of preciousness...beautiful places, beautiful people, beautiful artwork, beautiful creativity, beautiful connections.

How lovely to re-visit Ardornish, and see India and Freda again - I did a beautiful workshop there last time India was there, and had put my name down for a repeat - but it was cancelled due to Covid, and when this one was re-listed I couldn't afford it (I live in Australia!) So glad you enjoyed the magic India creates, and meeting so many other creatives. I find that inspiring. I remember the Bridal Suite! And those deep bath tubs. Great filming, and I love your scarf.

Thank you Jane. A pity that you couldn’t come but it is very expensive to travel from Australia. I felt very lucky to have it almost on my doorstep. I also loved the bathtubs. X

Thank you for sharing this experience. We all get locked into our own little world worrying about things we should not worry about. I enjoy and admire your artistic and very talented personality and the honesty with which you address your challenges.I know I have my own with migraines and back pain that pop up in the most unexpected times. But I also know it should not stop me from doing what I want to do. So thank you for demonstrating that in your own life.

Thanks Sunita. Migraines are such a nuisance - I hope that you aren’t too badly affected. J x

I can’t explain how much I loved this video.. firstly it inspired me to go back to my textile work , abandoned a few years ago, which was on the same lines as the images you photographed ( though not as beautiful!) and secondly for telling us about your fears before going away. I have been worrying about going on a week long retreat for the same reasons you explained. So Thank You ….. please continue your beautiful work and please continue sharing your wisdom. Sending much love. ❤️

Thank you Beryl. I think that on KZbin we have a wonderful chance to be honest and spread the ‘news’ that we all worry about all kinds of things! J xx

Good for you, Jane. I knew you could handle it like a trooper. And I must say this: You are anything but lazy. You offer so much to everyone and I know it is not easy getting all of your lessons and films together to help people learn to live in their natural element. I am so glad you enjoyed this venture. It seems it was very fulfilling.

You are beautiful and calm and I always find myself smiling at you as you talk, what a brilliant room too, and oh my goodness that floral fabric peeping through the armchair! Her dress is lovely, and it is so tricky isn't it making these KZbin videos, wanting to share because of the marvelous experience, but having to be careful too. And thank you the ending, you have inspired me, I always talk myself out of retreats for all the reasons you mentioned, I love that you honoured your energy with naps. I’m going to save up for one I have been longing to go on now, thanks Jane x

Thanks Ruby. Isn’t the chair amazing? I loved all the ‘shabby chic’ detailing - the corridor carpets had wear marks where people had walked and you could see corners being cut and which routes were the most used! I see KZbin as a great way of sharing things that few people talk about - like worries about attending a week long workshop 😂- but lots of people feel in private. Xx

How very wonderful as always to follow your adventures, and see that heart-melting landscape. I'm so glad to see India's work, I've followed her since her 1st book years ago. (I used to live quite close to her country place but never had the gumption (or the money) to do a workshop.) Rather do it in Scotland! It will be good to see how you develop from this. Thank you, again.

Thank you Jane, what a wonderful opportunity to play with textures and colours. It sounded like a fabulous time was had by all. Seeing the bundles tied up in the water and on a rock the image that came to mind was lots of cloutie dumplings ! Don’t know why. Scotland was looking at its best.

I cannot travel anymore with groups or even a few people. I need to just be with my husband. It just is too much and makes me exhausted. Meeting new people in a setting I cannot leave on my own time is overwhelming too. But once in awhile I make myself do events. However, I could probably not be able to do an event that long. Maybe someday when I have less anxiety. But that will probably be when I am in my 80s lol Glad you had a nice time.

Oh you sound so much like me. I need to take my time to do anything, even just getting up, and sleeping. I do love interacting with people but am so, so exhausted from it, it can take me a week to get over it. It is so limiting. 🌷

Hello!! Is it possible to find out more about these workshops? Couldn't see anything on the Ardtornish website and Ms. Flint didn't specify that particular workshop on her website. Might be interested next time she's in the area as I live across the Minch...

I think you can sign up to India’s newsletter here www.indiaflint.net which would be the best way to find out about her workshops. X

I clicked on this for the words "sewing workshop", but if I walked into "accommodation" and spotted that ripped chair - urgh, I'd be off. I dread to think how much you paid for a week of making what essentially is a rag, whilst staying in a dreary-looking house, but if you enjoyed the company and being there, that's great. I can't help but think that the world would have been better served if you'd all re-upholstered the chair(s). Perhaps I'm being far too practical.
@snapdragonlife2 ай бұрын
Isn’t it good that we all have different tastes. I was delighted to be living inside a stately home and thrilled to spot the even older layer of upholstery under the current one. I have a quilt from 1930s where a rip revealed fabric from 1890s and I hemmed the hole so it is now on show. X

perhaps taking a swig of something strongly boozy would eradicate that strain of judgement cloaked in perfection posing as opinion. bring on the wabi sabi! bring on the well worn and historical♥️🤎♥️🤎
