14:32 about Zoeva brushes. They’re actually made in PRC and the makeup is what is made in Germany. The following is what is on FAQ page from the Zoeva website: “WHERE ARE YOUR PRODUCTS MADE? Every brush is traditionally handmade in the PRC by specially-skilled brush masters. ZOEVA makeup products are made in Italy or Germany.”

At first I didn't like you back then ( I thought you were mean in some way) but I really appreciate you point of view. After seeing more of your reviews, in some way I realized we are very similar on how we scrutinized situations, ppl or products, personally I'm picky. Small things count as much as the big ones. Thank you for your reviews and saving ppl tons of money, if you ever have a make up brand I know I would trust it.

Btw, coffee beans work REALLY well for the vases you hold brushes in, and then you get that rich cafe smell in your makeup room!!! My fiancé got a bunch of free coffee beans at a trade show, so I used them and they work beautifully!!!

The explanation Artis gave for those brushes sounds like pure marketing. If they work for you, that's great, not denying that. However, normal makeup brushes are that straight shape not simply because you apply paint to a canvas or makeup on someone else, but because they allow you to use your wrist/finger motion. That way you don't have to move your entire arm to buff eyeshadow or foundation. It's like how children grip a pencil with their palms and draw with huge strokes of their arms, but once you learn to write properly, you grip the pencil with your fingers so you can write finer print. You get greater detail regardless of whether your canvas is yourself or somebody else. That's evident by how people may like the artis foundation brushes (because foundation blending is not detail oriented) but nobody talks about their eye brushes. Just my two cents

Actually the philosopher Ortega y Gasset subjected that each one has an "individual truth" that combine with all the other "individual truths" generates the "general truth" which is the reality of the situation that no one can fully see untill all the individual truths are put together. This is what inspired Pablo Picasso to paint the way he did, "cubism" is just painting the same thing from different angles and perspectives and represent them all together at the same time. Makes sense since Pablo Picasso and Ortega y Gasset were both Spaniards.

So cool how you mentioned that chronic pain may play a big part in brush choice because it's true. I'm in Canada, where 1 in 5 adults have chronic pain (Schopflocher, 2011), and for me it's something called Complex Regional Pain Syndrome. Chronic pain is something so many people have, but for many it's invisible and makeup is a great way to keep face and get on with a high pain day. Or even a regular day. Thank you for mentioning chronic pain. Hopefully people who don't think about it will take a moment, and those who do have it will feel heard. :)

I also know we have to be very careful about encountering biased reviews (if not flat-out bought opinions) in the youtube beauty world, which has only confused me more. Okay now that I’m finished with the video. Just a couple other notes, and I looked for an email address as I’d rather send this privately but you don’t post one so I’ll just note them here. I hope you don’t find it insulting, i just thought I’d help fill in the blanks on a couple of the brushes. Bdellium states they are headquartered in CA and they have a hand crafted brush artist in a factory in China. Sephora, Natasha Denona, even the current MAC brushes, it gets a little convoluted. I think based off what I can find, Sephora’s brushes are “private labeled” (I use quotation because technically I would call it a co-manufacturing not the traditional shitty Morphe situation from Crown brushes) through Anisa International (headquartered in GA, corporate office in NY) and they have a brush plant in Tianjin (Eastern port of China). At one time I thought I read Anisa‘s site that she even stated she private labeled for such companies but I am not able to find it anymore. It’s on the rumor mill for MAC as they continue to have Japan and France printed on their handles. Lastly, IT cosmetics brushes. I’ll give you a hint, i think they quit selling their brushes when someone either A) produced a really really believable replica that they sell on AliExpress that shifted profits or B) Just don’t wish to pay that amount of money for a synthetic brush. Hope that helps fill in a couple gaps, again not trying to step on toes I know you have a wealth of knowledge pouring out just thought I might be helpful for those question marks.

“My Truth...” 😂 So funny! I can’t believe you have to explain all about your lips & how they’re naturally full etc to *hopefully* not get dragged about going too hard on the filler!🙄 I purchased that exact elf (I think from what I can see) brush & I was so surprised! It’s really good & super soft! I want to know how Sephora can possibly charge the same prices for machined brushes as ESUM does for hand made brushes?! I love that you can’t be bought & you don’t allow certain companies...or company to scare you into line. In fact they’ve pretty much done the opposite! Lol. These videos are super interesting & helpful for someone like me- when I’m interested in something I like to know *everything* about it. So thanks as always for your diligence & thoroughness! xox

Thank you so much for the time and effort you dedicated to this matter. I appreciate your review and suggestions so that we are making more informed choices. Additionally, I really appreciate your desire and even focus on sanitation. Maybe not everyone wants to hear but most influencers don’t even talk about it or include it as part of their dialogue/narrative. From my perspective, no need for you to apologize. Makeup can be responsible for horrible bacterial problems on our skin and in our eyes.

It’s sad that if someone has a naturally nice feature, some people assume it has to be fake. Some people have naturally desirable features. It does exist.

Aahh I'm so happy you have Bdellium Tools in this video! They've been a staple in my kit for so long and I've always been curious how the other brushes you have about compare. This is so perfect. And I agree I only have like 2 morphe brushes that I still use (cuz I can't find ones the same shape and density) but I hate the fact that they shed like crazy. Drives me up the wall. Can't wait to replace them.

Stephanie I so appreciate your reviews and you are by far one of my fave KZbinrs to watch. I recently was so disheartened when I saw that someone I followed her bragged about being “ real” went on a brand Trip with a company she has never used. When I commented I was attacked!!! You are truly genuine and I will always appreciate and respect that

Agree on the RT brushes. My fav drugstore brushes- I use the 'eye shader' for blending cream shadows & deluxe crease brush for setting eye primer. I use the Bold Metals eye crease brush to blend my under eye CC. They do need to up their eye brush game. Their face brushes are 💣.

One thing I am curious about are eyelash curlers. You do great education videos--perhaps you could you do a video about different types/brands of eyelash curlers, what you like, what to look for/avoid, different eye shapes, etc.? I've been having an eyelash curler crisis, trying to find one that works. Also, I love your brush videos! I've purchased a couple of the Wayne Goss sets, as well as the "airbrush" brushes based on your suggestions. I only wish I done it sooner! The cost is worth it, for sure. :)

Such a great video, I love videos like this that give this much information. And I LOVE brushes too! I have spent a crap ton of money on brushes that I have actually thrown in the trash because they were so scatchy on the eyes that someone on You-tube raved about. And your opening comments about you have to find the brushes you like and find out what you like about them and why has me questioning my favorites.. One of the best way to explain that.

Kevin Aucoin skin enhancer works great under the eye if your veins are showing. It's expensive, but it goes a long way. You don't need much. My mom has vitiligo and the skin enhancer covers her perfectly

Have you tried the Sonia G Smudger #2 on the inner corner? It's fantastic, it fits perfectly in there. Also it's great with the kind of tricky shimmer shadows that you might need to use wet or with your finger. I wish she'd come out with a bigger one, but I've been making it work to press and drag shimmers across the whole lid (I have small eyes so that helps.) Since you know her, maybe you could put in a good word for my idea? My two hobby horses in brushes: life is too short for scratchy brushes. (LOL at alpaca buthole hair) and paying more than $20 for a synthetic, machine-made brush is a mistake, just save your pennies and buy a natural hair brush. Synthetic brushes are great, I have a ton of them (I like Bdellium, Sigma and Real Techniques) but they are so often over priced. All those big synthetic face brushes branded with a cosmetic name are a rip-off in my book. You can usually get a natural hair brush that is hand made for the same or even less money.
