I used to play Ark and one of the things I miss was building mobile bases on rafts and giant dinos. It was a lot of fun. We had one guy that lived in the ocean. Of course it was limited in what you could build. But I had a fleet of boats with these plant turrets all over the map i could spawn on. And if we needed to take someone down we could blockage them water on their water side. I even had some to protect dangerous lanes we'd use to cross. They'd be like a defensive tower.

I noticed the sinking method of the tugboat during the intro, try not too abuse it otherwise rust does get annoyed e.g kicking people as personally it happened to me (getting kicked.)

Have you tried building a floor or something like in a normal base to erect walls and possibly place a garage door if it's possible? If you could then you may be able to place a turret or shotgun trap to defend it from raiders except for submarine.
