Kyle, love the channel. I'm 43 born and raised californian and backpack 2-3 times a year up and around the PCT/John Muir and all over. Mostly a fishing guy catching rainbows and golden trout above 10,000ft. I know you are doing alot of research and probably have heard, but don't underestimate the high elevation mountains in cali and pacific northwest. The weather can change in an instant, and it can snow out of nowhere. Be prepared for a cold night you wont expect. Bring a knife. And bear cans are a bitch to carry. Look into the UDAP brand, I have the smaller one and it holds 4 days for me no problem, but then again I do catch and eat fish when im up there. Your going to love the PCT it is the most beautiful rugged mountains and scenery you will ever see. Can't wait to see your videos once you guys finish. Check out Kesugi Ridge. It is right near Mt Denali (previously McKinley). Best view I’ve ever had of the mountain without being on a plane. They actually just extended the trail by about 15 miles. It was about 30 miles long before. The northern end of the trail at Little Coal Creek is about 165 miles from Anchorage.

Might want to grow your med kit being on PCT VS AT due to less fellow hikers carrying extra and/or trail magic, check points for help?!? I'd atleast add some 4x4 not-stick gauze pads(can cut smaller) and some K/Luko tape wrapped somewhere, maybe around a cut straw and some alcohol wipes packs. Plus if you bust your shorts open they can act as a temporary patch🤷🏾‍♂️

If you run out of your Lone Peak 5 stock, I’m happy to report the LP6 fits almost exactly the same. The only noticeable difference I’ve found so far is that it seems a bit more durable up front and the ceiling of the toe box feels a smidge higher. Other than that it’s the same shape and fit. Happy trails and enjoy all that meth! 🤙🏻

if you're starting in may, it's pretty likely that you won't have much snow at all in the sierra at this point. unless some massive storm comes in between now and mid-april. it's doubtful. you should be able to cruise without spikes. you definitely won't need an axe.

Good luck hanging a bear bag, desert....no trees. Oregon and Washington......tree branches mostly hang downward, hard to hang. I was out on the pct in Northern Oregon all summer last year and I didn't see one person hang a bag.
