Something I don't want to hear but totally need reminded of. I stopped watching tv until the evening after the kiddos were in bed and life was taken care of. My hubby and I do still watch a series every evening but your message really got me thinking. I'll certainly be asking that question to myself when I'm tempted to just veg out and avoid life.

Trust me, it is not something I like to tell myself either! Like I said, it really is a weak point for me. I am glad you got something out of the video! Thank you for your honesty and comment! XOXO

I love that you explain why these feelings happen. I've noticed that in the past so now I try to watch shows that I can learn from or shows that will inspire my creativity. I'm disabled so I do a lot of crafting and will turn the tv on, but shows like "How it's Made" are fascinating and also I'm addicted to anything fashion related from the early 1900's in the UK (I'm American). There's such beauty in the beading, design elements and even hats so I feel inspired from them. I try to limit anything violent or argumentative, although I do admit my husband and I just binge watched "Orange is the New Black" together!! But thank you for being honest and realistic and hopefully something that inspired me may inspire you too! 💜💕💜

I love that you are honest with yourself and know what you can and can't watch. That is so important! Good for you! And of course, we all have our weaknesses! LOL. Thank you for your comment!

I'm so with you on this subject!! I always feel like I can't get enough done, but then I sit and watch 3 hours of TV. URG. It's too easy to fall into the habit of nightly binge watching. Aha moment for me was when you said - do you want to watch other people live their lives or do you want to live your OWN life. Thanks for sharing.

No problem. Thanks for watching! I feel like this is an issue that a LOT of people encounter and it can be so annoying sometimes when then happens. I'm glad this was helpful for you!!

This is SO true!!! I can especially relate when I was binge watching Pretty Little Liars. I would go to bed with really bad anxiety and just feel drained and dark! So yuck!!! Thanks for this video girl!! Xo

Totally! The mood of the show you watch really does set the mood for reality. Its very important to be aware of! I am glad you liked the video! Thank you for the comment!

Aye, you have some good points especially regarding how we pick up the emotional energy of the show and sometimescarry the mood for hours after we turn it off. But I also think it is noteworthy that some mental stimulus can be very productive and I often find that in TV shows. I personally find that watching shows like Criminal Minds and Sherlock have helped me raise questions about psycology and behavioral studies and I've researched topics that never would have crossed my mind if I had not watched those shows. Im currently watching Supernatural and since it has a hodge podge of cultural and religious references I've been able to guide my interest in studying and comparing beliefs of different cultures and religions. I have been talking to my friends about these subjects too, its really interesting to me some of the conversations I've found. I feel a bit closer to some of my friends and like I am personally discovering a lot of myself as well. Too much of anything is possible so while I agree that noone should go apeshit binge watching netflix every day, I think that if you're truly gaining nothing when you watch TV you've picked the wrong show.

You bring up good points! I think as long as you are honest with yourself, that is important. Everyone is different and if you know your limits, trust yourself. I love that those shows do that for you... That is awesome! Thank you for comment!

Love this! What do you and your hubby do after the kids go to bed? We seem to just go straight to the TV because we want to unwind.

This is such a good question because I know that is how a lot of couples are! We read our different books a lot. Lately we have been making our favorite detox drink or healthy smoothies.

I love love loved this video! You speak the truth. T.V. has its place but it is a hijacker. I loved that! I have been seriously thinking of how my tv viewing has impacted me lately. This is good food for thought. Now to actually change those bad habits or *gasp* ditch cable/Netflix!! Lol.

I think it's a good idea to schedule tv time, I have 3 kids and am making a chart for things they need to do daily to ear tv time, well as adults we should do the same, I know for me alot of times I get home from work or errands and want to sit down and watch tv or a few you tube videos and it ends up being hours and I have completely disregarded that the laundry needed to be put away or dishes needed to be done and then I've wasted most of the day, I want to make myself a chart of things to get done to earn a few shows, typically too we don't like to start shows until after dark and the kids are in bed (9-11pm)

I like this idea a lot! Sometimes the things we push to teach our kids, are things we need to teach ourselves. Thank you for the comment! That is such good insight! XOXO

Well watching your U tube channel is like watching tv so what is the difference?????
@whippycakeplus8 жыл бұрын
I think the general idea behind the message I am trying to convey is that too much of a distraction (yes, even youtube) can derail your personal progress. Like I said in my video, I still watch TV and KZbin for that matter, I am just a lot more careful and restricted on what I watch and how much. If my channel (or anyone's channel on KZbin) makes your self-esteem drop or if it takes hours away from your day then I would say you should probably unfollow me/them .

my problem with watching t v..is that I love to eat (ugh) while watching t v..and that equals Peggy getting fat..

LOL I am the same! I should have mentioned that! Its so much easier to keep eating when you are engulfed in a show.
