This was great, I've been looking for "what should i keep in my bug out bag?" for a while now, and I think this has helped. You ever tried - Pansaac Ideological Preeminence - (Have a quick look on google cant remember the place now ) ? It is an awesome exclusive guide for discovering how to collate your effective bug out plan for survival without the normal expense. Ive heard some incredible things about it and my brother in law got great success with it.

I work a a military and tactical supply store here in Houston. Prepping has gotten HUGE this year. We've sold out of most of everything and getting stuff in is pretty tough to do right now. I've been prepping for years now and I've learned a lot. I think people tend to go overboard and I've had a chat about that with so many people. What it comes down to is making a plan, packing for it, and leaving it at that. Too many people think they need to get too much stuff. Most people are not experienced in humping a pack with 50 lbs or more in it. If you're not, you're in for a bad time if you go overboard. I'll stop now.....I'm getting into my in-store tangent. Good video.

yep, that was me. some 10 years ago :P . now im down to 20lbs pack and 5-10lbs battle belt. rest is securely stashed around our 40 acres land ;) . as you have said: people are trying to compensate their lack of knowledge and skills with items. all of us need basic items, but more you know, less you need to carry.

I just watched a video on Corporals Corner. He wandered into the woods and using just a pocket knife and a discarded plastic bottle he made a shelter for the night with wood he found in his location. Proof positive that training in his case military is far more valuable than stuff.

This is the first urban kit I’ve seen that actually makes sense to me. Everyone I watch carries a ton of stuff as if they were heading into the bush or something. I don’t carry a stove bc, I keep food I can eat on the move, but otherwise I carry pretty much the same stuff except the night vision (too broke) and I’ve always felt anything more was excessive if your simply trying to get home

Hi I dont believe i carry a ton of things I carry for 2 people me and my mother I also have a fire bag and food and clothes. I have a backpack so I dont have to touch main bag unless I have to. Everything I have I did research. Yes people do overdo like I said I packed for 2. People do go over board all they need to do is pack what they really need and go camping to see what works best🤗 God bless you

Find a dump pouch that rolls up. Small footprint, can hold plenty of weight, and most are durable. I’ve got a Russian sso pouch that can hold 6, 40 round rpk mags. That’s a ton of space for foraging, collecting, etc. Pick up what you need and go. I didn’t find myself using it on my kit when out at the range so it became the extra large survival fanny pack.

I think that’s a pretty bag set-up. A darker color may be a better choice, but you got a good deal on it, it is what it is. The pack itself seems to be a hiking pack, so you definitely blend in!! Since you mentioned you have slimmed down your gear to be more lightweight, now you for sure move more swiftly if situation arises. Good luck!!

Really great BOB! My two cents: upgrade your comms. Get a HAM radio (Baofeng UV5R is 25$, get a 42 inch collapsing antenna by Abbree for another 12$) they let you call for help when everything else fails. You can also intercept NOAA weather radio and communicate with fire and rescue.

Dan Hedman the test is only 15$ to get a license and you can download the questions to basically take practice tests and memorize the answers. The first level is called “Technician” and you want the “ARRL” one. Once you get a license you get a callsign and you can start talking to people, I got my callsign Jan of this year and it’s been a lot of fun meeting other HAMs in my area, it’s a really nice hobby to overlay with prepping. For instance, I have an off grid power solution to power my radio for field day now, which doubles as a freakin off grid power solution in case anything else goes wrong. Little victories 🙂
@robreke
@robreke 4 жыл бұрын
@mr Hernandez...the only way to keep that radio charged is by keeping it in the charger, plugged into the wall. How could you keep something like that in a bugout bag? You'd have to use one that ran on batteries... Right?

I always find it very interesting to see other peoples B.O.B.s. What I have never seen though is a video on all the places one should have a bug out bag or different scenarios for different types of bugging out. I have 1 EDC/get home bag, which to me, is actually a "get to my wife" bag. But when it comes to actually bug out, I have stuff everywhere, In my house, truck, wifes SUV, the camper, my hunting cabin and a few other places. Reason being is, you really never know why or how or to where you may have to bug out. Unfortunately, this system is expensive.

I would consider adding a rat trap to procure small game while you are away. They'll catch mice, rats, squirrels, and small possums and raccoons, and urban areas are full of each animal. I got three questions for you: 1. How do you prepare your kids/wife for a potential bug out scenario? I saw a lot of YT videos about personal bug out bags but nobody ever mentions how they plan to flee a dangerous area with kids of young age. How to handle a child that cant walk for miles? 2. What do you think about people who put night vision/thermal goggles into their bug out bags? People who do have those things in their bag say in their YT videos how important it is to them since they would never move at daytime. Just saw a ex green beret talking about that too. 3. Where would you flee to if you had a choice? Just as far away as possible or would you head to a military base first? Sure it depends on the scenario but right now civil unrest/war would be the most likely scenario (even here in Europe). Thanks

I can easily navigate at night without night vision. I don't see a point other than taking out sentries in war theaters. Waste of space outside the military He wastes so much space with junk gear in that pack of his. Less is more.

Either bag on back , kid on front or vice versa. Personally I believe ideally you bug in for a month or so, if that's possible, and after that you either head north or south. Without the grid most won't be able to live where it's really cold or really warm. My preference is the Florida keys. Plenty of fish/ seafood, salt,fat/coconut, clean water if you build a solar still. Some of the hardest things to come by. Most are scared of the heat, water, can't swim,can't boat/sail.
@rahlap2449
@rahlap2449 3 жыл бұрын
@@etherealrose2139 How is a thermal scope waste of space? Its literally not much bigger than a smartphone. And yes, navigating at night might be good enough without a light or a thermal/NVG but why not take the huge advantage? Makes no sense. Imagine a civil war and threats are everywhere. If somebody set up an ambush for you to walk into, you can see that day and night with a thermal. You do you, but I will keep mine in my bag. Little to no weight and no space wasted but huge advantage.

Not sure why, but used to make pace count cords out of 550 cord when I was in. Found they were not only cheaper, but held tighter longer than the commercial ones. They are not too hard to make, just a little time consuming attaching, tightening and melting the ends to lock the knots on.

@danhedman7234
@danhedman7234 4 жыл бұрын
I'm not an expert on bug-out bags but I am on training kids... can't expect them to pick up and go if they've not been prepared. Kids as young as four or five can begin physical training, just have to keep in mind they are not miniature adults and keep it age appropriate. Get out and hike or do some trail running if possible. Set a goal of doing a 5K, do a walk run combo for gradual Improvement. Add a light backpack or training vest with the same idea, gradual Improvement. You'll be amazed at how strong they are for their body weight and how quickly their little bodies get stronger. They should have their own little bug out bag, know what's in it and how to use it. They don't have to know about all the dangers and evil in the world, they can use it just as well in a storm situation or other emergency. They don't need everything you do, but they should be able to carry their own weight as the saying goes.

Very good. Every situation and geography is different. We plan to shelter in place. Plenty of supplies in our home. So I have a Get Home Bag. The issue is my work (I am the owner):is Far from home. 55 miles. So I added CASH to my bag to pay for a hotel room for 3 days. My truck will transport me to home (keep it filled with gas) however I have a little scooter I keep at work that I can throw in the truck in case the traffic is like a parking lot. My honest evaluation is a common earthquake (I live in Earthquake country) or civil insurrection that jams up the freeways and roads. I have plenty of oddball equipment in the truck. Axe, saw, sleeping bag, etc.

New prepper here, thanks for the run-through of the pack. Two questions: 1. Why are you always on the move? What is the end goal? For example, if you found a spot with a food source, shelter and water source, no enemies, why move from it? 2. This may sound soft but hear me out. What about an inflatable camping pillow? Light and next to no weight or space. Your body is your no 1 tool prep and quality of sleep is really important. Thanks!

If you don't know the names of the streets and what's on them, you're lost anyway. The goal in urban wrol is to find a spot to live where nobody's looking and ride it out there and survive until conditions improve, assuming escape to somewhere else is not an option. At night you roam the city concealed and see what you can steal to later use for bartering. You will need a consistent flow of income to even stay alive just like normal, the city is not a good place to be if you are the kind of person who carries an alcohol stove
