That is a truly stunning Car. 30 LBS is an impressive amount of weight loss. You always put a smile on my face.

Hi Dave--it's actually 40lbs. weight savings...that's close to 70% weight savings over the lead-acid...incredible. :-)

Another great video Dan. I have great memories of working together with the folks at Aston Martin. BUT... your V12 looks to be ingesting a bit of oil in the left bank. Maybe some valve guide seals? That low mileage certainly can cause a seal to dry a bit and leak on start up...
@DanDulac2 жыл бұрын
Hi Nuno-yeah I noticed that too in the vid. It seems to be random when it will blow a blue puff on startup. Sometimes none at all after sitting all winter. Sometimes randomly on one side or the other. Might be another project in my future to change valve stem seals.

The Ultima project is amazing, but I truly love the Vantage V12....

I remember the day Aston revealed the Gaydon-era V12 Vantage 6-spd and I knew I would have to own one someday. It’s pure analog British hot rod. 💪👍

Such a beautiful car.

I put a LiPo battery in a remote control car , and it pretty much doubled the speed and made it almost impossible to control it . I'm not entirely sure you'll see that kind of difference in a gasoline combustion engine though .

Great video Dan - Thinking of installing the 80 ah in the Vantage and was wondering what your thoughts are after living with it for a while. Thank you!
@DanDulac Жыл бұрын
Hi Rob! I haven’t had any issues at all with the 60Ah variant. And with the emergency backup cell built-in, it gives me more confidence *if* I ever have an issue.

Been looking into this mod but worried if the charging system of the car will be able to charge it or if it will mess with the electronics, as u know the dreaded IBS might cause an issue not sure on how to register the battery on the car (did u register it as a Lithium or AGM or Lead Acid?. Did u do anything other than the lithium charger, thanks Dan
@DanDulac2 жыл бұрын
I just dropped it straight into the car and using a Lithium charger to keep it topped up. I’ve had no issue since installing it earlier this year. AntiGravity have batteries purpose built for the Vantage; the choice came down to 60ah or 80ah. Given the price difference, I went with the 60ah battery. Great so far!!

@@DanDulac cool im going to hit up Anti Gravity and make that switch, when u store cars, for some reason i developed a battery phobia lol thanks bradah, i like u mix things up on ur channel!

Wow, what an incredible savings in weight! Thanks for the metric equivalents. As an aside, is it true that because Aston Martins are handbuilt, the build quality can be a bit hit or miss?
@DanDulac2 жыл бұрын
My personal experience is that the quality has been great. In fact, because it was hand built, it’s very easy to work on. 👍

What wheels do you have on the car? They’re a perfect match

Thanks for your kind words! They are Vorsteiner V-SF 001 wheels finished in brushed aluminum.

I have been considering a lithium diet for my bike especially as they often have anti drain protection and capacitor backed flat start ability, But knowing my luck I would get the one in a million that bursts into flames the week my insurance provider goes belly up

On a bike, i bet the seat-of-the-pants weight savings would be VERY noticeable!
@anomamos90952 жыл бұрын
@@DanDulac Not much actually , the batteries on race bikes are tiny to start with smaller than can crank the engine, The real benefit of lithium on race bikes is being able to restart the bike and being able to power more electronics, at least way back when I haven't raced in twenty years. My street bike is a tourer so ten pounds less is not noticeable
@anomamos90952 жыл бұрын
If you don't ever track that car replace the carbon rotors with regular ones . To provide any real benefit the carbon needs to be hot, this can lead to not stopping in time or the wheels wanting to lockup after not seeming to do much. The handling will suffer a fraction due to the extra weight but the car will be nicer in traffic and stop more predictably and you wont be burning up ten or twenty K worth of rotors if they're on a shelf
@DanDulac2 жыл бұрын
Hi Amon-I thought about doing this when I first bought the car. But I was pleasantly surprised how good these OEM carbon brakes are on the street. Once and awhile I’ll get a minor squeak from them on the front but the brakes are telling me they want to get hot so some spirited driving quickly takes care of that! I love zero brake dust too! 👍
@anomamos90952 жыл бұрын
@@DanDulac . Had carbons on a race bike and they nearly killed me if not for ABS. The wrong pads were used first lap I tried, one of the mechanics had fitted sintered metal pads instead of the pads that came recommended for the rotors which were a kevlar carbon ceramic, The correct pads improved things but not enough that Id want them on my street bike
