Hey, I enjoyed your video very much! I just wanted to note that the black marks / residue are actually gold particles that are being rubbed off, too. I guess, the sunshine cloth is a polishing cloth and will remove scratches and smaller imperfections by rubbing off (micro-abrasive) thin layers of gold and even them out. So the cloth will always turn black regardless of how clean the jewelry is. For a deep clean I just use luke warm water, a mild soap and a soft tooth brush. Steam is also fine. If I feel like it (once a year) I use an ultrasonic bath to get the tiniest dirt particles off. Please note that certain gemstones should not be treated with hot steam (e.g. tourmalines, organic gemstones) or an ultrasonic bath (e.g. emeralds, organic gemstones).

Thanks so much for the info! I wonder why the gold particles would turn black 🤔 Do you think the ultrasonic baths impact the prong settings? For some reason, I'm always afraid the little vibrations will loosen the stones 😂 Sounds like I'll rely more on the steam cleaner for my solid gold pieces! 💕

The small gold particles that remain on the cloth will react to the chemicals the cloth itself is treated with. As VCA jewelry is 18K / 75% gold, the remaining 25% consist of silver and copper which will react, too. These tiny particles are also prone to oxidize directly when in contact with air. Luckily the chemicals from the cloth do not stick to the jewelry itself. But it is recommended to clean the jewelry after polishing again - just in case. As far as the prong setting is concerned, it is very secure if done correctly by experts. The vibrations should not loosen anything. If you get your e.g. solitaire ring cleaned at Tiffany’s or any other trusted jewelers, they will likely use ultrasonic cleaning if it’s a diamond or sapphire / ruby. It’s just that e.g. emeralds have tiny cracks and / or are treated with oils (to fill in tiny natural fractions and make them disappear). The vibrations can then have an affect on the cracks and / or cause the oil to dissipate.

By the way, once every two years I will ask my local jeweler to check whether something is loose or of concern. Also whenever I go to Bulgari, Cartier, VCA - you name it - I will ask my SA to check on my jewelry, as well. It should be part of their after sales.

I have some questions for you, hope you do not mind☺️. 1- I have to pair of VCA earrings and saw what you did on yours, do you think for ppl that the hole too opened, moving up the post will make it hang lower?. 2- I saw the silver tags, but what was inside the gold envelope I saw in this video, are those for gold fashion jewelry? 3- love your engagement wedding set, but I need to ask you, where is the eternity band from? ❤❤❤ love it! Hello, do you swim in pools or beaches with your bracelet? If you do, how has your bracelet held up so far? Just wanted to know how durable the bracelet is as I know that exposure to chlorine is quite harmful for jewelry.

Hi! I do not wear my vca jewelry in pools or in the shower. However, my kids put their dirty hands all over my hammered gold pieces and I can clean them off quite easily. 😃👩‍👧‍👦❤️
