I.D.E.A. Studios launch collection is available now to order to your home! 🚀 weareideastudios.com - thank you so much for your support! In today's video I respond to Russell Brand's recent video about processed plant-based alternatives. However, the aspect of the plant-based alternatives conversation I'm most interested in, is how these products are being targeted by the meat industry in an attempt to discredit veganism.

Expecting people to convert from a standard American diet to a strictly whole foods, plant based diet is insane. The vast majority of people won't be able to do it. Making veganism accessible for the average person is the goal. Processed vegan foods and mock meats help so many people transition. Once people become more comfortable with eating only plants, they'll usually naturally evolve and transform their diets to include less processed mock meats, and more whole foods. But if they don't, who cares? The goal was to stop eating animals.

I've been a whole-food vegan for about a year now and I really don't miss meat at all. It smells gross to me now. But I know that it's a lot easier to cook for my meat-eating family using plant based meat substitutes, whenever they have dinner at my place. I agree that delicious meat substitutes lessen the need for meat. It's still about the animals for me, not so much about my health. Even though I feel much healthier now than I ever did before I went vegan. Thanks for the vid!

Be careful consuming soy, the elites push soy onto vegans plates for many reasons, 80% of soy is gmo, gives vegans colon cancer every year, and actually takes years off your lifespan to break down digestive wise. Congrats! After a yr you can smell BO from meat-eaters too. I" ve been vegan since 2001, as soon as I could buy my own food lol. I have stopped mid-way in 2012 for a yr with a BF who was only vegetarian. I felt a huge difference in my health and skin. I don't think I will ever be a nonvegan again at this point. I think fake meats are not bad for transitioning but for me, I always disliked the smell and taste so stick to WFPB homemade foods. It's much easier to be vegan today, when I started few knew what it was.

When I eat them, I definitely do not feel they way I used to when I ate meat. And even though they are processed, many of them have really good stuff. But I wish these companies would make them more healthier. I guess the problem is they have to raise the price of the food.

@@samuelmiensinompe4902 if that were true Japan wouldn’t be ranked #1 for overall health, longevity, lowest obesity. Every year. They eat almost more fish than any other Asian nation. Iceland is also ranked in the top 3, they also eat lots of fish. The top spots are always fish heavy eating nations. Meanwhile Israel the most vegan nation on earth sometimes ranks in the 20s and 30s and sometimes if they’re lucky they break the bottom 10. So I highly doubt Doctors and Dietician will ever tell you to get off the meat, at the most they’ll say eat LEAN meats and plenty of vegetables. Then again vegan studies never rely on healthy meat eating nations, they use American studies, which America is known for fried foods and sugar

10 years vegan here, and while I started on a 100% ethical sentiment ,I'm 50 y.o now and I also do it for my health equally. No processed food for me, and anyway I always hated fast food and even cheese in my younger days. I don't miss the taste of anything non vegan. But I understand that for those who eat these alternatives, they are indeed voting for the elimination of animal exploitation, and that makes me happy. To each their own vegan meals! I actually think Russell would agree with what Ed says in this video, as he always says he get things wrong from time to time. For that reason I feel it should have been a discussion between them both, or a video simply addressing the subject, rather than the title & thumbnail used, directing it as a beef between Ed & Russell. Ed addresses the fact that the video isn't an attack on Russell as a response video, but the title/thumbnail suggests it is, and consequently might drum up hate & negativity where its not necessary. Having said all this, love both Ed & Russell for the positive change they are making in the world. United we make real change

I went vegan for animals 31 years ago but 6 years ago for health I went to high FRUIT plant based & consume 80% fruits & mostly raw… this helped save my life after allopathic doctors messed me up (clinically killed me) but at the same time - I rather eat the most processed vegan stuff than the best organic free range animal foods… vegan stuff doesn’t crate addictions (fear adrenaline will damage & get adrenal glands addicted like cocain or heroin) - not even processed ones & it is NOT cruelty - lowering our conciseness… so I salute ALL VEGANS for being vegan but of course try getting healthy stuff! 🍊☀️💖🌱😘

@@bananabrain2996 Judging is intrinsic to morality, there's no way around it. Veganism being a moral philosophy entails judgement of one's action towards animals. The "non-judgemental" vegan never existed, never will be. It's one thing to avoid being confrontational (I get it, it can be socially ostracizing) but believing that non-judgement is somehow preferable is not only performatively contradictory but detrimental to the movement and ultimately to the animals.

Also, personally, I wouldn't care if eating plants wasn't any healthier in terms of comparison to animal flesh. I refuse to contribute to the suffering of other beings. And no, fighting for animal rights does NOT negate that I fight for human rights as well. They are not mutually exclusive.

If you’re going to change your diet and try to become vegan because you want a “healthier” diet and be fit, then you’re most likely going to give up sooner or later and eventually fail. Now, if you’re wanting to give veganism a try because you actually DO love animals and are against all the cruelty and because of ethics, then I guarantee you you’ll most likely, if not will, stay and become vegan. So bottom line, don’t do it cuz of health, do it cuz of the animals and moral ethics. Period.

The three things people always mention as reasons not to use plant-based alternatives: the taste, the practicability, and the health. People don't seem to get that it is precisely NOT about those things, but about the ANIMALS. Thanks for the video, it gives me nice new ideas how to respond better in the future (e.g. the nr. 1 and 2 carcinogens). And I take an algae-oil supplement for omega 3 DHA, from the brand Testa Omega 3.

I actually became vegan last year after enjoying Russell's content, looking back at Russell's old stuff, finding the early Simon Amstell episode about the documentary Carnage: Swallowing the past, watched that and became vegan. During the last year I've witnessed Russell lose the plot and go from leftist and spiritual to a right wing grifter who enables anyone to talk over him and use his platform to shove talking points that only slow down progress. Really disappointing honestly. He's cultivated a new kind of audience and older fans have stopped watching so the feedback he'll be getting will be encouraging the awful new direction of his content. Hope he sees this, hope he remembers his values of speaking up for the oppressed rather than letting oppressors talk over him

I had hoped that maybe Ed Winters was the ONE who had come to bring veganism to the notice of mainstream society along the lines of other great struggles from the past (suffrage, civil rights, gay rights etc.) I dreamed that with his following, media presence, skill, and contacts veganism would emerge from these echo chambers and move beyond the one-person-at -a- time approach through debate. Instead he gives us tee shirts. There is no real vegan movement.

Those two oldest people also didn't live on green energy so that must be a fluke as well.
