This is an approximate translation of the song " Ikaw At Ako ". Approximate because I don't know how the song writer originally intended it to be translated. The first translation is a word for word translation to give you an idea of the word equivalent to english. The second translation is based on normal english grammatical word order. Ikaw At Ako ( you ) ( and ) ( me ) Sabi nila balang araw darating ( say )( they )( someday )( will come ) ang iyong tanging hinihiling ( the)( your )( only or very )( wish ) At nung dumating ang aking panalangin ( and )( when )( came or arrived )( the )( my )( prayer ) Ay hindi na maikubli ( is )( no or not )( it )( hide ) Ang pag-asang naharap ko sa yong mga mata ( the )( longing )( faced, saw, encountered )( I )( on )( your )( eyes ) mga when added to the next word makes that word plural. So mata means eye, and when mga is put before it, it turns eye into eyes. At ang takot kong sakali mang ikay mawawala ( and )( the )( fear )( my )( in case, if ever )( may )( ikay is a contraction of ikaw meaning you, and ay meaning will or would which becomes you'd )( disappear, go away, lose ) At ngayon nandyan ka na ( and )( now )( there )( you )( are ) Di mapaliwanag ang nadarama ( Di is short for hindi meaning no or not )( able to explain )( the )( feeling, what is being felt ) Handa ako sa walang hanggan ( prepared, determined )( I, I am )( to )( never, nothing )( until ). The two words " walang hanggan " is translated as until never or forever or eternally. Di paaasahin, di ka sasaktan ( Di is short for Hindi meaning no, not, or never )( make [ you - implied ] wait, long for )( no )( you )( to hurt ) Mula noon hanggan ngayon ( from before, since the start, ever since )( long ago )( until )( today, now ) Ikaw at Ako ( you )( and )( I, me ) At sa wakas ay nahanap ko na rin tanging hinihiling ( and )( at, in )( end, last )( is, have )( found )( I )( have )( also )( only )( asking for ) Pangako sa yo na ikay uunahin ( promise )( to )( you )( that )( you'd )( be first ) At hindi naitatanggi ( and )( no, not, never )( to refuse, refusing, ignore ) Ang tadhanang nahanap ko sa yong pag- mamahal ( the )( fate, destiny )( found )( I )( in, from )( your )( loving, affection ) Ang dudulot sa pag-ibig natin na magtatagal ( the )( result )( of )( love )( our )( that )( will last ) At ngayon nandito na ( and )( now )( is here )( it ) Palaging hahawakan iyong mga kamay ( always )( will hold )( your )( hands ). Mga+kamay makes the word plural. Mga+hand becomes hands. Di ka na magiisa sa hirap at ginhawa ay iibigin ka ( no, not, never )( you )( that )( will be alone )( in )( hard times )( and )( prosperous, happy times )( is,are, am )( will be loving ) ( you ) Mula noon hanggan ngayon ( from the start, from the beginning, ever since )( long ago )( until ))( today, now ) Mula ngayon hanggang dulo ( starting, from )( today, now )( until )( end ) Ikaw at ako ( you )( and )( I, me ) Translation in the normal English grammatical word order You and Me They say someday will come Your only ( or very ) wish And when my prayers came true Could no longer hide The longing I saw in your eyes My fear is that I might lose you And now there you are Could not explain the feelings I am prepared ( or determined ) to forever never to make ( you-implied ) wait, never to hurt you Ever since before until now You and me And at last ( or and finally ) I found the very ( thing I have been- implied ) asking for ( my-implied ) promise to you that you will be first And to never refuse ( or ignore ) The destiny I found in your loving affection Our love will be lasting And here now will always hold your hands Never will you be alone in hardship or prosperity ( happy times ) You will be loved Ever since before until today From now until the end You and me When the song is translated word for word, it does not quite make sense. Because each language has its own grammatical system. Also the weakness of the tagalog language is that there are not many words that can be made to rhyme. So often songwriters play with the placing of the words to get some rhyming effect. I am surprised that no Filipino your age is trying to help you with the translation. Considering the effort you are putting in trying to promote the Filipino culture. Kind of sad almost no Filipino is trying to promote the Korean culture. And so this translation is the least any Filipino could do in appreciation of the work you are doing for the Pinoy culture. Thank you Sylvia Kim. and also thanks to Jessica Lee, Kim and Lee, Dasuri Choi, Sandara Park, and Hanna Lee of Korea Times and others who are also trying to promote the Filipino culture.

Also if you love OPM best of the 90s early 2000 one is a band called Moonstar88 their popular songs are "Sulat","Torete" , "Sa Langit", "Panalagin", and "Ang Pagibig king ito". you wont regret it and I think you know MYMP already. They are on the same Era of music. And listen to the original song because it had the original singer and composition.

90's and 2000's OPM are the best. I would suggest Eraserheads, the lead singer is like the Bod Dylan or John Lennon of the Philippines. There is a 90's song called "Cool Ka Lang" translates to be cool, chill or calm down. It has a very catchy tune. Perfect when you are stressed. Do you know 연정 of WJSN? Hey, Sylvia. Thanks for liking and getting hyped over OPM. It really means a lot to have someone else appreciate our music. In a way, OPM is a window to the Filipino psyche, and will greatly help in your effort to learning more about our culture. OPM is not limited to love and heartbreak songs, though. It offers a whole spectrum of genres, from the heaviest of rock music, to the smoothest of R&B, to scorching and blistering hip-hop, all the way to quirky and unique indie music. Also, the range of emotions OPM explores, dare I say, is wider than most commercial music available. That's why I earlier said that it offers a window to the Filipino psyche. By the way, there's this interesting channel called EL's Planet. Its tagline is "Bridging culture and inspiring minds, one video at a time." The creator has an interesting series called "Koreans react to OPM" where he introduces Korean students to OPM via a song's music video. Afterwards, the artists are introduced and the lyrics are explained to them. They then give their reactions to the said song. It is noteworthy that these are students who have been living in the Philippines for a very long time and sometimes recognize the artists, but not their songs. It has an interesting premise, and I believe is a good way to get your feet wet in OPM. By the way, I'm not associated with the channel. I'm just hyping it up because I found the series to be so educational, enlightening and worthy of sharing. Plus your roommate Jessica (Lee) had a music collaboration with the channel's creator. Sobrang galing! By the way, you asked for recommendations. I'd like to share mine, but I'll limit them to a maximum of five for each genre so that it won't get confusing. Note that these may differ from other people's. Please consider it as a springboard to discovering other artists and their music. For those who would like to add to the list, please feel free to do so. Also, I'm not a music expert. I'm just an enthusiast, so my categorizations may be wonky to some. Please don't crucify me. LOL! Heavy rock: Wolfgang and Razorback Alternative rock: Eraserheads, Rivermaya, Parokya ni Edgar, Urbandub, and Kamikazee Hip-hop: Francis Magalona, Andrew E. (the one who sang Binibirocha), Gloc-9, Loonie and Abra R&B: Kyla, Jay-R, Michael Pangilinan, Bugoy Drilon, and Daryl Ong Indie (or Indie Pop): Up Dharma Down, Reese Lansangan, Clara Benin, IV of Spades, and Ben&Ben. Jazz: Project Yazz, SinoSikat, The Pete Canzon Group, Myra Ruaro (aka Scarlet Brown), and Noli Aurillo Women singers/balladeers: Regine Velasquez (Hail to the Queen!), Sarah Geronimo, Morissette Amon, Katrina Velarde, and Nina Male singers/balladeers: Gary Valenciano, Martin Nievera, Ric Segreto, Basil Valdez, and Rey Valera (Most male singers nowadays can be associated with R&B, you see.) Hopefully these will help you in your OPM discovery. It is a deep rabbit hole, but keep on digging and you will surely find plenty of gems along the way. Enjoy!

I have a really embarrassing memory for the song "Rainbow". it was Jan 13, 2012. My friends and I took our usual morning jog before we go to school. We met up at 2:30am and took an hour walk before we arrived at the sports complex where we jog and do our usual morning exercises. There were a couple of people already in there. So, I and my friends started jogging. Since some of us were too fast and too slow, some decided to go their merry way. I was one of them. I left two of my friends and put on some music. I just had my second round when Rainbow started playing. It was my favourite song then. I closed my eyes and tried to feel the cool morning air, I hummed to the song. Just when the first line came, "Falling out, falling in", I did fell. Yes. I fell in the canal on the side of the track. I had a sprained ankle then and cannot walk for a week. My ankle still hurts even up to this day. hahaha
