A reporter actually went to the bar and interviewed Shawn, as well as the bartender, and others, which was fantastic. The Clearfield Police Department responded. But is their response adequate? John, please look into the 5 Farmington City Utah Cops (also in Davis County Utah) that about a year ago mag dumped on another young man they’d been stalking then used an allegedly unregistered vehicle as an excuse to pounce. One cop simply had to shout gun, gun, gun & Chase Allen was no longer. Why? B/c he was dead on the ground. #UtahPoliceState

Yes. Where the Chief says that he "didn't consider that the man might have a disability", I took it as saying he finds it just fine for his officers to rough handle non-violent people, that they assume are in some way inebriated. I can't find that to be acceptable. They don't get to throw people around, and injure them, just because they want to feel "powerful", and enforce meek compliance on the public. This ugly ideology is putting a huge wedge between law enforcement and everyone else (including off-duty or retired leos). There is no officer safety in losing the respect and trust of the public.

Walking home from a bar, rather than driving, should be commended. The guy was safe, hurting no one, bothering no one, committing no crime, so logically a cowardly cop assaults him. It’s no wonder that people don’t trust LE. Edit: For everyone commenting that the guy doesn’t/didn’t drink, that’s not what I was insinuating. What I meant (and wasn’t clear about) was that any police officer seeing someone walk out of a bar might reasonably assume the person had been drinking and, therefore, should be happy that person is walking and not driving. AND based on that, the police should just leave such a person alone.

I had a friend who went to a bar to do the Karaoke, and he had a little too much to drink. Not completely plowed, but kind of buzzed. He decided to do the right thing and not drink and drive, so he left his car there and walked home. He got detained by a police officer on his way home, who asked him what he was doing. He was doing the right thing by not driving drunk, so he felt that maybe the officer would see it that way, and he told him that he was walking home because he didn't want to drive. He was arrested for Public Intoxication.

The cops are criminals, the new President is a convicted felon, 2/3 of COTUS are criminals who take bribes and pass legislation provided to them by lobbyists verbatim, and SCOTUS takes bribes and emoluments too. America is undeniably a third-world country s*ithole now.

A lot of cops were high school bully and sadly still act that way. A handicap citizen is an easy mark and most of the time nothing happens unless it goes viral. We have a president that also acts that way and makes fun of them. It empowers cops. Hopefully he doesn't give cops total immunity like he said b he would do.

@tomeauburn 🤣 yeah right. A bunch of cops in Utah think about Trump while harassing a handicapped man. Sure thing. Your brain is broken.

The fact that this police department ISN’T ABSOLUTELY OUTRAGED AT ITS OFFICER’S ACTIONS tells us that this department SUPPORTS THE BRUTALITY! It doesn’t matter what the department SAYS, what matters is what the department DOES!

Like the 74yr old man attacked by a cop last month. It was pretty apparent through certain queues, especially after speaking to him within 30sec, that he was handicapped. To assault him that way is inexcusable and disgusting. Yes, sure, he shouldn’t have fought back (he shouldn’t have been arrested either) but what type of human would use that type of force? And then the department gives the typical response of “We talked to the officer and gave him “additional training” but technically he wasn’t wrong so what more can ya do {shrug}?”… really? It amazes me how cops say they aren’t appreciated and not supported, and don’t really don’t know why. That “Blue Line” is a division line between them and us. We will always be guilty until proven innocent, and Freedom and Rights are words they claim to defend and use when cosplaying as American Patriot on the weekend. They talk about needing additional funding for more training, but that’s part of their job. It doesn’t cost more money to take ten minutes before every shift to discuss/review/refresh laws and to remind them not to bully and hurt the elder and handicapped. It should take more money to have a meeting once a month for a couple hours to train on interacting with the public, how to deescalate situations, and other topics. It’s amazing how someone goes to a police academy, is hired, and only learns in the future after making a mistake. We can upload videos, comment, protest, file complaints, and notify the press… but nothing is going to change until they start holding themselves accountable, ending qualified immunity, and making them pay when sued, not the city. Unfortunately those three things will never happen…

This is a recent incident so we'll have to wait and see. First the victim has to sue and collect big $$$. Next the people of this community need to take action and DEMAND from their city government to FIRE this clown LEO and especially the police chief AND everybody who was from the get go involved with this case AND the 'internal review' and demand that a complete overhaul is perfomed under new police leader ship. But I am not holding my breath because most people who comment on these videos do not really care UNLESS it's them one day who have to face this police brutality. So wait and see then !
