John, please look into the 5 Farmington City Utah Cops (also in Davis County Utah) that about a year ago mag dumped on another young man they’d been stalking then used an allegedly unregistered vehicle as an excuse to pounce. One cop simply had to shout gun, gun, gun & Chase Allen was no longer. Why? B/c he was dead on the ground. #UtahPoliceState

I can't find that to be acceptable. They don't get to throw people around, and injure them, just because they want to feel "powerful", and enforce meek compliance on the public. Walking home from a bar, rather than driving, should be commended. The guy was safe, hurting no one, bothering no one, committing no crime, so logically a cowardly cop assaults him. It’s no wonder that people don’t trust LE. Edit: For everyone commenting that the guy doesn’t/didn’t drink, that’s not what I was insinuating. What I meant (and wasn’t clear about) was that any police officer seeing someone walk out of a bar might reasonably assume the person had been drinking and, therefore, should be happy that person is walking and not driving. AND based on that, the police should just leave such a person alone.

I had a friend who went to a bar to do the Karaoke, and he had a little too much to drink. Not completely plowed, but kind of buzzed. He decided to do the right thing and not drink and drive, so he left his car there and walked home. He got detained by a police officer on his way home, who asked him what he was doing. He was doing the right thing by not driving drunk, so he felt that maybe the officer would see it that way, and he told him that he was walking home because he didn't want to drive. He was arrested for Public Intoxication.

Like the 74yr old man attacked by a cop last month. It was pretty apparent through certain queues, especially after speaking to him within 30sec, that he was handicapped. To assault him that way is inexcusable and disgusting. Yes, sure, he shouldn’t have fought back (he shouldn’t have been arrested either) but what type of human would use that type of force? And then the department gives the typical response of “We talked to the officer and gave him “additional training” but technically he wasn’t wrong so what more can ya do {shrug}?”… really? It amazes me how cops say they aren’t appreciated and not supported, and don’t really don’t know why. That “Blue Line” is a division line between them and us. We will always be guilty until proven innocent, and Freedom and Rights are words they claim to defend and use when cosplaying as American Patriot on the weekend. They talk about needing additional funding for more training, but that’s part of their job. It doesn’t cost more money to take ten minutes before every shift to discuss/review/refresh laws and to remind them not to bully and hurt the elder and handicapped. It should take more money to have a meeting once a month for a couple hours to train on interacting with the public, how to deescalate situations, and other topics. It’s amazing how someone goes to a police academy, is hired, and only learns in the future after making a mistake. We can upload videos, comment, protest, file complaints, and notify the press… but nothing is going to change until they start holding themselves accountable, ending qualified immunity, and making them pay when sued, not the city. Unfortunately those three things will never happen…
@XwpisONOMA19 күн бұрын
This is a recent incident so we'll have to wait and see. First the victim has to sue and collect big $$$. Next the people of this community need to take action and DEMAND from their city government to FIRE this clown LEO and especially the police chief AND everybody who was from the get go involved with this case AND the 'internal review' and demand that a complete overhaul is perfomed under new police leader ship. But I am not holding my breath because most people who comment on these videos do not really care UNLESS it's them one day who have to face this police brutality. So wait and see then !
