You can write 's as an abbreviation of is for example it's cold out it can mean is, has or indicate possession, depending on the rest of the sentence.

22:30 Firstly, it's a contraction, not a conjunction. Conjunctions are words like and, but, or so that connect sentences. Secondly, and more importantly, names can be part of contractions, and the most commonly used contraction with names is the word "is". Saying "Woohoojin's" to mean "Woohoojin is" is as grammatically correct as saying "Woohoojin's Funday Friday" to show possession. Love the vids just needed to correct that since you said it so matter-of-fact.

Iirc, the 'is' contractions on nouns are informal, and not 'formal/proper' English, which is what Hooj was getting at I think. You can use them 100% with pronouns though In practice it's not incorrect, but it is informal, and highly dependent on dialect/slang recognition, therefore you wont/shouldn't see it in any form of professional formal writing

Mr. Banana Man I believe that you are incorrect in your explanation of possessive/contractive apostrophes. If you attach an apostophe s to a pronoun like "he" or "she", that transforms it into "he is" or "she is" respectively. And you absolutely 100% can attach an apostrophe s to a name and have it be EITHER possessive or contractive. It just depends on the context of the sentence. Also also, an apostrophe after the s doesn't ONLY happen if someone's name ends in s. It also happens when 1.) it is a possessive apostrophe and 2.) the subject is possessing multiple things. This was how I was taught in high school. Graduated in 2021. Maybe grammar has changed? Either way you are welcome for the grammar nerdout
