My theory on the story (very sad and depressing when you watch the video and realize it) You're playing as a guy who has some hallucinatory and mental issues and you leave when the guard takes a permanent nap from your fork, and you decide to pay mom and dad a visit but you end up unaliving them because of your hallucinations and eventually snap back to reality. (the countless times chat said "I made my family disappear" were true in the worst way possible)
