My vintage 1985 Tamiya Wild One restoration

Hello, a video of my recent near complete restoration of a Tamiya "Wild One" radio conrolled buggy. Released in September of 1985, this was one of Tamiyas' last true buggy styled cars that began with the "Rough Rider". This 1/10 scale RC car features a bathtub style chassis, 4 independent coil-over spring shocks, Mabuchi 540 motor, and the larger "Fox" sized tires. Tamiya eventually will re-release this awesome buggy. I hope :) It is a simple yet elegant buggy. Very beautiful. Had one NIB a few years ago. I built it while I was getting over a cold. Wish I never sold it.

Wow this brings back memories for me. My dad got me one of these used when I was about 10 years old. It sure made the Tyco Turbo Hoppers my friends had look like absolute trash! lol

Wow, this brings back memories! Got it in 1986. I was 15 then. That thing beat the hell out of everybody else's car at the time! Standard at first, later with a Master Blaster motor(forgot the brand)...good times.....

I lively remember building this racer with my dad,and my friends were jealous :0) Luckily I still have the car, minus the front wheels, front hood and battery cage. Will do restoration soon. Thanks for the video!

I went to a hobby shop in 1985. Parents let me pick out a car. I choose the grasshopper because I went by the box art. Boy was I stupid! The wild one is my favorite vintage car now and I going to get one. I pray for a re-release.

@@RCOffRoad76 No, always out of stock. I want the blockhead one but I can only find them on Ebay for $400*. I saw that they are putting them out again with the original colors but the chrome on the blockhead looks sweet. They will catch up with demand soon.

@@freewill51 Yeah the blockhead edition has crept up in price from when they were first released, just gone for the original one may put the silver blockhead bits on at some point, thanks for the reply, must be strange replying to an 11 year old post lol

nice buggy!...your RC work station looks very organized and well done! I love to see craftsmanship like that...your collection is great..I have a wild one that has some problems but still running but years ago... i cut the frame to install a bigger motor..dang it!
