Great video. Love your collection 😍. I have one suggestion. I think you should isolate your speakers from your record player to get better sound quality. The cartridge is designed to pickup vibrations from your records. But it can also pickup vibrations from your speakers. It gets worse if you turn up the volume. The best would be to place your record player on a shelf on the wall. Maybe just a few inched above the record stand so it doesn't look very different. Then you can even jump around and it will not be affected. The next best would be to move your speakers. Maybe on a couple of small shelves

Hi Ki, you want to learn about Records, ok, first from an old schooler such as I, you do not have a vinyl collection you have the start of a record library, also please refrain from the word vinyl, vinyl is the material that records are made of, records are also known as LPs, record albums or just simply records, the cover of a record album is the jacket, the paper liner is the sleeve, the "sticker" at the center of the record is the lable, Never or to the best of your ability touch the surface record as to avoid oily finger prints...everyone IS guilty of this ...hold on the edge and the lable, Never store your records lieing down flat for an extended period of time ( they will warp), avoid damp areas to avoid water damage, mold and mildew, purchase a record cleaning kit (this is a Must), to extend jacket life purchase plastic album covers, go to record fairs and record stores that sell second hand records, I have 400+ albums well over half I bought used and they are in fantastic shape, only buy what you enjoy and know then branch out from there, Avoid the blatant money grabs really no need to have multiple copies of one record...again Everyone Is guilty of this...sorry for the lecture but you seem to be a sweet young woman and Mostly just have fun with it I've been at for forty years and have NO intention of stopping any time soon

Kiley, for your next upgrade consider the set of klipsch promedia 2.1 thx, they are similar to what you have, but on steroids. The best part is you can find them at Costco for just $99. I mean people can spend thousands on speakers, but the difference between $50 and $99 on those Klipsch are dramatic. They are plug and play fully self powered. Everything else you have there is really cute, and your spirit for vinyl is great.

@KileySmith4 жыл бұрын
The only reason I bought the speakers was the turntable itself doesn’t have any built in, so without them I wouldn’t hear anything! Great question :)
@andrewhaines86033 жыл бұрын
Record decks, half decent ones anyway, don't have built in amplification. You need to connect them to an amplifier that has a phono input which should also include a grounding point or if the amplifier doesn't have a phono input you can buy a phono amp, which is a small box that boosts the signal from the stylus and that can then be connected to any of the inputs at the rear of your amplifier. You would also require speakers or headphones to listen to anything you play through the amp. If you were to just operate the player without amplification all you would hear is a very faint output from the stylus. You can buy the "all in one" players, but as we all know from KZbin, you put the life of your vinyl on the line by doing so! Hope that has cleared it up for you!

Please don't take this the wrong way, to each their own and you seem to be enjoying your vinyl collection in a lot of ways which I am all for but... I really think you should think about a few upgrades that would make the experience SO SO SO SO much better. First lets take a pragmatic view of why bother with vinyl in the first place.... 1. The total experience, including the fact that it's really not convenient. This is a good thing in many ways and encourages a much deeper listen to not only songs you know but also discovering songs you would have never listened to on some streaming service, or play list, or shuffle mix or whatever. 2. The vinyl LP as object d'art including cover art, interior stuff, etc... history especially with pre-owned older records out of print. Even if not pristine there's a history of someone that loved this thing/music before you did. It's literally a piece of shared history culturally and personally with previous owners. 3. With most actual vintage LP's and a mixed-bag of repressing/rereleases you actually get a FAR BETTER mix/mastering treatment rather than the garbage we are subjected to with a hell of a lot of modern "remastered" and newer releases that have destroyed the dynamics of the music - quite literally due to the brick wall limiting / loud as possible made for low bit-rate streaming which completely obliterates digital "advantages" in dynamic range and low noise floor which is the only reason you'd want digital in the first place beyond convenience. I could give you examples but you'll be very hard pressed to hear them on that rig because it's literally ALL WRONG for enjoying what an LP/vinyl mix/master can do very well that is absent in a lot of digital re-masters and newer digital releases (not all but a lot, as in tons of 60's 70's 80's music has ben butchered in digital remasters... yep louder but awful. Those re-master/re-mixes even ended up on vinyl repressings that sound like crap) Okay with respect to #3... unless you are an audio freak that knows what they are doing just about any small driver system + subwoofer is NOT a good way to hear music. In fact its the worst way. Take it from someone that does know what they are doing with audio reproduction on a large and small scale. Even with all the money in the world setting up a system that uses subwoofers at all and reproduces a balanced listening experience is very very difficult. What you really want is a pair of REALLY decent floor standing speakers with a minimum of 8" drivers. You don't need to spend a ton but even a moderately priced pair of typical floor standers with 1 or two 8" drivers + tweeters will knock your socks of with any relatively competent amp (I would go for a higher powered vintage amp with a phono pre-amp to start with... Honestly anything that was widely popular in the late 70's and early 80's will do that does 50 or so watts/channel... go with a mid-range to higher end consumer brand of any sort and you'll be good, as in blown away good. I could source the stuff on eBay used that would cost you just about nothing. Lastly, the turn-table. It's okay but I personally would go with something that has no preamp built in, plug it into any decent 70's or 80's phono stage and spend $100 on a new lower end Grado/AT/Shure/Ortofon cartridge and you and your records will thank you.... Hell I have a Realistic LAB-400 with the original cartridge and a new stylus (elliptical Shure 8x) I got for free that will not only preserve my records way better (the thing tracks at 1g... even old bad condition records) but sounds just as good as a brand new $1000 Rega I have through the same phono amp/speakers, Trust me... listen to them the way serious music lovers (with a little cash) listened to them in the 70's and 80's and you'll be very surprised. In fact what I had to spend TONS of money on speaker wise in the 80's can be had mass produced from JBL/Klipch/Etc for a song on amazon.

That table is way better than a Crosley Set Up with 6 gram tracking force that ruins records if you don't change the stylus enough. Change your stylus a little bit before the recommendation that you should check on and make sure your tracking force is correct .
