I 5050d a 12 in early 2000s and was nowhere near pro.. this is when (sorry for name drop but it's for credibility) Malto and I + all the other amazing skaters out of kcmo like Ryan Peirce, or Josh White, or Ben Alaniz were like 16 and just fucking going at everything. But Malto was very resilient and had his eyes on the prize 24 fucking 7 and that's why he's where he is today. To be a pro isnt just skill. It's a combination of a lot of things and Malto had it all. I got addicted to H. Peirce never really cared that much at all and doesn't mind just living life how he wants skating. Alaniz got rough with somebody and did some time... my point is that there is A SHIT TON that goes into becoming pro. Hence why it's called a "profession." Most importantly, we skate cos we love it so don't ever quit. And always cherish your skate homies... skate on y'all I love all of you.

I am almost 30 years old & skated my entire life up until about a few years ago when I quit doing gnarly stuff for a number of reasons mainly because I had to get on with life with no medical coverage and skating wasn't earning me any money so I quit going so hard. I threw myself down stairs and walls for over a decade and let me tell you, when they spoke of bruised heels I totally understand and kind of cringe thinking about pro skaters who abuse their heels and bodies because they go harder then I did for longer and I just imagine what their feet/heels/body will feel like on the future because mine, at not even 30, feels like hell...after a night sleep, or even hours nap, rising to my feet from the bed is almost impossible for a few minutes and hurts like hell..so I can only imagine how these dudes feel / are going to feel but that's the price of being gnarly and I commend all skaters for going hard..
