I started watching one of your videos and as a swiss seeing just that first glimpse of you at the jewelery shop i felt like, he is just another one of those guys buying bling bling ap's, hublots etc but looking at your watch collection i am proven wrong. You know alot about the watches, you respect how they were made and what into making them. I'm glad that collection belongs to you, a very worthy owner if i may say so. Would love to see you on talking watches one day.

Work and knowledge is the only way and then also doing and working in areas which pays a lot would help a lot ?

The story of him saving up and buying his first watch, a Rolex Submariner, is truly inspiring. He says he was 20 and it was the equivalent of buying a house. Listen guys. The guy made a career for himself that found him where he is financially. Doesn't mean life is perfect for him and all worries in life are gone. Just means he can afford some nice stuff. That's great! No need to begrudge him for showing us his very interesting collection. And it is very interesting. For me, it lacks a certain class. It's a tad gawdy. Doesn't carry a certain level of finesse. The less is more thing. This is definitely a "more is more!" kinda collection. Fair enough. To each their own.

Common Sense I believe people often keep their watches in banks in case their houses are robbed. Considering that he is a rather high profile figure known for having an absurdly expensive watch collection, he may have a higher chance of being robbed. However, I don’t really know. I imagine the point is as follows: he doesn’t need to wear all of his watches all the time, so it is not a bad idea to keep them in a bank where they are undoubtedly safer.

Keeps em in the bank for insurance purposes. Love watches but that part kinda stinks for the high end stuff. Also a Buddy of mine had an expensive Rolex (40k). Fairly wealthy guy but having it and wearing it made him a bit nervous. Watches can be swiped or misplaced so easily. I've some peeps with ultra expensive cars. Same thing often. It creates a kind of anxiety worrying about every knick or scratch. Maybe uber wealth or uber confidence might eliminate those feelings. Interesting psychological side stuff.

Siddharth Sharma the reason they are in banks is because these watches cost over $500,000, and some are Tourbillions which have to be in constant motion in order to not lose their precision.

David Topchiev because of people like you, the rich people are secretive. Je has worked hard and he deserves to spend it however he wants. He gave all this money to watch companies and that has helped pay the employees. He has helped and promoted skilled people by buying watches and not just given it to some poor person.

pivotsweeter Noticed the reference to this more than once and had to chuckle. I’m a pretty wealthy guy and G-Shock’s are the finest watches on the planet for me. I’ve had a few of these high end timepieces over the years but they did nothing for me. Enjoyed watching this though. Nice to see a passion expressed so nicely none the less.

Virtualmix Those homeless people you are talking about are more than likely mentally ill. Even if you gave them a free house tomorrow many would still go out and live on the street. They are not living on the street because they poor they live there because they have problems with their mental health. Unless some of you are proposing that they be committed to a mental institution?

Thank you for this video! It's so nice to see such extravagent watches and learn about the heritage behind them. I would love if you would be able to do a collaboration with Hodinkee and talk about your watch collection on there as well. Such a down to earth guy and I love watching your videos. Congratulations on all the success you've had in life and I look forward following in your footsteps. First step is of course completing my college education but once that is complete, I plan on hitting the ground running! I always dreamed of owning a Zenith, Vacheron Constantin, and Audemar Piguet and it so nice being able to look at your watches and see what they are like to wear!

As a fan of this channel and reading all of the comments regarding a house tour, I tried to find all that I can about Mr. Blakey. A quick Google search found him at 1690 Summitridge Drive. Now, I found current pictures of his house online which I cross referenced with the video and guarantee this to be his address; the stone on the fireplace, the view of the hills, and the table is all on the photos online and match this video. The street itself is okay to put it nicely, and the house is not what I expected someone of Michel's caliber to live in, but I assume that's why he's in the market for a new home. To be honest, without detracting anything, the house itself is very dated and is in need of an upgrade even by 'common-man' standards, but if he's comfortable in it then nothing's wrong with it. What surprises me most is that he mentioned he had several Rolls Royce's, a 458 Speciale, a Huracan, and a top spec Range Rover, yet that property only has a two car garage-I assume he rents garage space off site. In the past few months, the property [along with adjacent lots] got approval to build a massive 30,000 sqft 6-story home. In Beverly Hills there are restrictions as to the weight and overall structure that can be placed on a certain hill. Because his house is on a cul-de-sac, this would mean the home would be the only one of its kind on that hill. Estimates have the new development costs between 50-80 million and if completed, may have a home value of over 150 million. Given Michaels net worth of roughly 280 Million, I am unsure if he will finance this project; thus, the property is on the market for just over 6 million as is. Unsure if this comment will get deleted, but because I wanted to put a few things to rest I got this info for y'all. Okay, I need to get out there and make some money and not snope Google. In it to win it!

Yes they are treated with a chemical to make them durable and the chemical removes this particular waterproofing. Also most of them are coloured ie blue alligator or red etc so the painting of these skins ring the waterproofing additionally.
