@@watcherofwatches1969 watches should not always be about the brand, if a guy name tommy turned out to be a genius watch maker and offered me a hand made watch that had the fit and finish of a patek, I would buy it. The same goes for the Hublot, this is one of the best looking Hublots I have seen and I will say this; If you are not in need of cash, please keep it because thats a classic . That G.S , I have been eyeing it and I stutter every time but my gut really tells me that piece is going to become an icon because as G.S steps up its technology as with the 9Saf (9SA5, sorry!) , the design language on the newer releases may become more contemporary and the one you have will become more of a classic. I see that watch climbing up to at least $6000 later on

I really like that you spent time to consider each watch and its merits when building the collection. The pace is faster than most I think given you only started recently but it’s nice to see your watch journey. I started with a Gucci back in the 80s and then an entry level Rolex but lost my collection 5-6 years ago when someone stole them. But I’ve recently revived my passion for watches and I’m on a similar journey now albeit at a slower pace. Your grail watch is probably mine too (the Lange 1) but I’m not there yet. Last purchase was a Glashutte Panomatic Lunar which I love.

That date window on the Zenith really needs to be at the 12 because it looks weird with a perfectly balanced dial and then this odd date window randomly cut into the dial as an after thought.

This is one of the best SOTC videos I’ve seen, not because of the actual watches (though this is amongst my favorite), but because of your presentation. You’ve earned yourself a subscriber! Out of your watches, my 3 would be the IWC, Zenith, and the GMT. Did you have the IWC for 2 years before your next purchase or did the other watches not make it this far? Also, I appreciate your honest about buying your Rolex from a secondary dealer. I refuse to play the AD game and just save up for the current market price and go to a trusted secondary dealer instead.

I purchased the IWC as my ‘one’ watch, but then suddenly after a couple of year I had this ‘itch’ and since then I’ve kind of been going deeper into the rabbit hole with no return. I just sold my DJ36 and I’m getting a YM40 in blue then an independent brand. Going to see if I can keep it at 1 purchase a year and continue my 1 in, 1 out policy. Great collection Buddy. I’m not sure about all the hate for the Hublot. Everyone should have their own opinion and purchase what they like and shouldn’t have to justify that to anyone. Don’t feel the pressure to move on from it unless you really don’t like it or don’t wear it. Not a big fan of Hublot or IWC. Once I bought a used 7 day rose gold limited edition Portuguese. Paid 50% of retail price. I was lucky when i went to sell it that I only lost about $1k. IWC needs to control their distribution. I would be so upset if I paid full retail for that watch. When you buy IWC, Hublot you should expect major loss when reselling. Great video.

Thank you. The cushions have 2 parts. The main cushion (smaller watch size), then a sleeve the fits for larger watch size. my wrist size 6 and three quarters and my watches fit perfectly on the smaller cushion.

Ah yes that is a underrated watch that I believe will gain some popularity soon. I actually like the design better than the Oak or Nautilus. Can't stand the horizontal stipes dial on the PP. And the Oak is just a bit too harsh for me.... the GP nailed this category imo. Inspired sure but a legitimate design in its own right released before the Nautilus. This watch will be more loved soon I am sure.

By the way, not to take too much of your time, I was quite disappointed with the new release (chronomaster Sport), it was so, so close to being a classic but the sub dials are too clustered in the middle because they deleted the black ring that is usually in the el primero dial.

Rolex, IWC and the JLC. Its hard to decide between the JLC and the Zenith. But you need a dressy piece if you are keeping only 3. Besides, it leaves you room to purchase a 4th watch, the omega moonwatch xD

I found your SOTC review while looking for a watch box review. Very good collection and well presented with the right balance of information and motivation for your decision. If I had to pick 3: Pepsi GMT, El Primero chrono and Reverso. Gives a nice balance of sporty and dressy. I’d probably also keep the Seiko 5 as a daily. Best of luck with your collecting journey.

Honestly looking at your collection, it's amazing but sell the Sekio 5 or don't give it 50% (very high) of the wrist time, I'm not a snob but you are far past it. Get an Omega or Tudor for your daily beater if you must, life is to short to not wear your nicer watches.

You can't go wrong with the PP or Lange but of the two go with the Lange 1, it's an icon of the brand, the calatrava as fallen from grace due to PP sports, were Lange has stayed true to the dress watch and the dail is much more interesting, a Reverso and a Lange in a collection, wow. The Overseas (blue) is stunning just saying, happy hunting, it's half the fun!

No special order. The cushions are 2 parts. Soft cushion that should take smaller wrist sizes, and then a sleeve that goes around each cushion for larger wrist sizes. It’s well thought out

I'd pick this gorgeous Hublot over Patek and god forbid Royal Oak any day. Saving for one in rose gold. Watch snobs are pretty toxic towards the brand, but I usually don't give af what other people think.

I would just like to start by saying it’s your money so buy as you please. However, I would just like to point out some of the reasons why people dislike Hublot so extensively. The first reason is that the brand lacks any originality in its product lineup to the extent that it seems they are trying to leach off of other brands success such as the Big Bang and Classic Fusion being so heavily based upon the AP Royal Oak and even the “Spirit of the Big Bang” effectively being a carbon copy of Richard Mille (which is another polarising brand in its own right). Secondly, is the movements used in the majority of their product offering. The 42mm Classic Fusion 3 hand date model uses a movement based upon a Sellita SW300-1 which is an “off the shelf” third party movement which of the price that these watches retail at (5600 GBP) is quite bad considering brands like Tudor offer an in house movement in watches that retail for 2700GBP (BB58) even brands like Omega and even Rolex offer higher quality in house movements on all of their entry level watches that retail for less than Hublot’s. The finishing of the movements as well are not great for the price that these are set. Next, as previously mentioned, is the price. Hublot’s are priced far higher than other watches that offer near enough the same or even more. They are manufactured from titanium so that does add to the price a bit but not to the extent that these are sold for considering you can buy a watch with a sellita SW300-1 movement in from around the 1000-2000GBP mark (e.g Oris). Finally, all of their watches pretty much look the same they are all adaptations of the original design just under a different name and in addition to this the countless limited editions that they offer is just not sustainable. Overall Hublot’s are effectively a glorified fashion watch that offer very little in comparison to what they are charging. However, if you still want to buy one go ahead and do so as fundamentally it is your money.

@@flappyhands9699 this particular model has a great in-house movement. Omega, Rolex had half a century head start to start manufacturing their own movements. The finishing is no worse and in some cases better than other luxury watches. Like many brands, such as Panerai, Omega, AP himself, Franck Muller, Hublot sticks to their iconic design, which took inspiration from Royal Oak, but here all resemblance ends. In my opinion Royal Oak is hideous, but it's just me. They got pretty jaw dropping designs at the higher end, so I don't really see a problem here. Spirit of a big bang has a very popular tonneau shape that is used and abused by every single brand, it's like saying all round watches are Patek rip off. Tho the design includes all the traditional Hublot features, and different enough to not be confused with any other brand. What Hublot saved on movements at a time, which were still decorated, modified and partially replaced, they went all in on every other part of a watch. It's one of the most innovative and creative modern watchmakers, pushing the boundaries. Also important: Hublot has a very distinct FU vibe, and no other than RM watch can give you that 🤓😏 I did my own deep research of the brand and I say it's worth the money.

@@smashexentertainment676 This model does have an in house movement and 8 day power reserve is reasonably impressive however it’s also 12,500GBP at retail. Furthermore, Oris offer the calibre 400 movement which has a 10 day power reserve in watches that cost just above 4000GBP mark. Rolex were founded in 1905 long before Hublot however Hublot were founded in 1980 (40 years ago) Rolex in 40 years had flipped the watch world on its head and had multiple patents and iconic designs under its name (e.g. the oyster case). In 1945 exactly 40 years after it was founded Rolex came out with the DateJust arguably their most iconic watch and was the first watch with a quick set date function. In 40 years Hublot have achieved nothing to that magnitude and I think an in-house movement for watches that cost 5k+ should really be the minimum. In terms of their finishing I have to disagree with the fact that they offer finishing to a higher standard than other luxury watch brands in the same price bracket. For example, the omega speedmaster professional (sapphire sandwich) offers a far superior level of finishing than Hublot watches that are twice the price. Yes, brands like Omega and AP do live off their iconic designs such as the speedmaster and Royal Oak. However, if you look across Omega’s entire collection you couldn’t say that the speedmaster looks like the globemaster or that the de ville looks like the seamaster whereas if you look across Hublot’s catalogue the classic fusion looks like the Big Bang even at the high end with the MP collection it just looks like the Big Bang and classic fusion with the bottom cut off to fit the tourbillion. I wouldn’t say they have jaw dropping designs at the high end, don’t get me wrong they use quirky materials such as carbon fibre etc but effectively they still look pretty much the same as the watches at the lower end. If you compare that to brands such as Patek’s Grand Complication or Jeager-Le-Coultre’s gyro tourbillion you start to see the difference in quality at that end and Hublot fall short. When I said the spirit of the Big Bang was a carbon copy I wasn’t just referring to the shape so it’s not the same as saying all circle watches are a Patek rip off. It’s the crown, the crown guards, the shape of the chronograph pushers, the screws it’s to the extent that you could only tell the difference between the two brands when you get to a distance where you can see the logo. What time hublot save on movements is definitely not spent on the case because by that notion you would be saying that the attention to detail on the case design would punch far above its weight for its price point and therefore level itself out. If would compare any hublot classic fusion whether it would be the one using the sw300-1 base or this one here using the hub1602 and compare it with a Grand Seiko SBGA211 which retails for 5400GBP the Grand Seiko wins hands down. The attention to detail to create the effect of snow on the dial as well as the extremely polished sword hands and heat blued second hand the titanium case that matches the materials used on the Hublot not to mention the movement being the 9R65 spring drive movement which is true innovation giving the aesthetic of a mechanical watch but the accuracy of a quartz average +15 seconds a month. The movements are finished to a standard that could give brands like Patek a run for their money. All this for 200GBP less than a Hublot classic fusion powered by a modified sellita SW300-1. Personally I wouldn’t say Hublot has done anything truly innovative in terms of watchmaking. Making watches out of titanium and ceramic? Grand Seiko and Omega were there first. Tourbillions? Breguet. Using celebrity endorsements? Rolex. Using materials such as carbon fibre etc is quite interesting but then again Richard Mille have been doing that since they were founded in 1999 so whether Hublot did it before I’m not so sure but either way it’s not impressive enough to be called an innovation. If Hublot don’t change and the hype around oversized “in your face” sports watches disappears then brands like Hublot and Richard Mille will disappear with it. I will repeat this as it might seem I’m arguing with you but it is your money so if you like it then buy as that’s what watch collecting is about. However, if you’re spending more than 12500GBP on a watch then it opens up so many more brands and what I would hate to happen to you is for you to buy it and then regret it as Hublot’s resale value is not that great so you would only fetch 40-50% of its value back if you trade it in or 60% if you sell it privately.

@@flappyhands9699 I'll be short this time. Where you disagree, you're free to have your opinion, I still disagree with you. Oris Caliber 400 however has 5 days power reserve. Calibers 110-114 do have 10 days, but also priced from 6K to 15K+. And you proved my point bragging about the brands that had 50-70+ years head start, when watch industry was just at the beginning and everyone was trying to satisfy consumers. Apples and oranges. It's like, oh, that 40 year old professional football player is better at football than 15 year old kid and played more games. Comparing to GS is just no fair. No one stands a chance against them. Yet Hublot still has their own tourbillons and minute repeaters. And people seem to care a lot about money. If I cared for a retail I'd have a 10 buck G-Shock and the rest of money in stock. It's just another gorgeous watch on my over all collection list which I spent years researching and putting up together. And not the most expensive one. If Hublot disappears, I'll still be wearing a golden Classic Fusion. And if "oversized" watches disappear, I'll quit watches in general. Far from everyone want's these 40mm and smaller coins. Well, not so short after all 8)
