I understand the rules have changed on removing DC isolation but the Givenergy inverter can't be safely isolated in the day if it needs replacing as the DC inputs are via wago type connectors in the bottom?
@artisanelectrics8 ай бұрын
Yeah thats exactly why we fitted a DC isolator in the end
@solarrover95758 ай бұрын
Rules haven’t changed on dc isolation. You need dc isolation it’s just that older inverters didn’t have a built in dc isolation. So now you can do without the separate dc isolator. If the inverter needs replacing or moving later just remove one leg of the string and make safe followed by the other leg. I.e. keep them separate.
@ToolTimeToday9 ай бұрын
Just curious as to why in the video @ 37:47 that you are using cable sheers to score and cut the insulation of that earth cable when i would be using side cutters ?, reason for asking is for the fact that those are cable sheers and are designed for sheering/cutting cables rather than for precise working on the removal of insulation and such. loved the video btw, good to see you back in the uk with the guys on a job instead of playing around with non uk electrical content (as i did not enjoy that tat if i'm honest).

3600kWh/ year £12k. If a kWh is 30p then that’s £1k annually. I know Scotland’s not great in winter, but that’s pretty poor value. I have a smaller array with a predicted (and realised) 2MWh/year generation which I reckon has a 5 year payback time.

Yeah but you don't have to lift the tank full of water for a start also the givenergy 9.5kWh battery is 116kg have fun lifting that up a loft ladder. Plus there is now a debate in the IET about banning the practice due to fire risk
