I found that the greatest value I get from your videos is the calm vibe. You're inviting me to take my time, relax, and your progress still remains impressive. Lean into this tranquilness, never stop. Thank you.

I actually liked the fact that it was a good mix of the technical and a more general overview of everything going on. For me, it was the combination of both that created a nice flow. But it's not a bad idea for the deep dive also.

Thank you for being straight with us! I am glad you shared the reason for the slower content, and the idea of a “deep dive” series would be awesome! I won’t watch that series since I am here for the game and not for the code, which is why I think it’s brilliant

I am super excited about your new view structure, the technical dives are always valuable to me and I enjoy them for sure, but having them come out separately to the Dev Log can mean more content between or easier visibility of the tutorial/deep dives. The Dev Logs are still effectively the same vibe which is super important about your content; it is such a great and relaxing time to watch. Keep up the excellent work mate.

Loving the progress as usual! One thing that would be a relatively small but helpful change would be darkening the text color on the logs. Right now the white-on-tan color could be difficult for people with visual impairments to read.

Always love seeing progress on this game. By the way, not that you asked, but it would be cool to see the little micro bubbles that form and stick to your diving equipment before quickly disappearing. Adding those to the dive watch UI element while the player character is diving would be a neat little polishing feature.

you seem to have your work-life balance well in hand. something you might consider is less frequent cinimatic devlogs and perhaps using the "shorts" format. outlining "hey, i made fishing work! here's what it looks like and here's a funny problem i had making it". then once every so often when you have time to do so comfortably making a longer recap devlog like this one to catch people up. that way you are still focusing on the game but not being forced to go "radio silent" for extended periods. just a though on how you could go about it. as always your mental and physical health come above any and all entertainment or productivity. never push yourself to burn out in any job unless peoples lives literally depend on it (e.g in medical fields). we aren't going to die of boredom if you aren't able to post a video for a couple of months :P
@Patrick1985McMahon Жыл бұрын
12:58 you don't need a , on the last item of a list. line 12. while you do have the option to not put in ; at the end of lines. it's nice to do as many think it helps with readability as it gives the programmer a subtle hint of the end of an action. This also helps if you by accident delete a new line that would then concatenate two lines together breaking your code. But with a ; you would have an easier time seeing the error and fixing it.

I have an UX idea for your fishing, what if you make the fish scale down when the player is holding it and only scale it bigger if its in the air (being Catch or release) for illusion that the fish is closer to the camera. Basically make it larger it its "closer to the camera" and smaller is its "far" or "closer to the ground"

Damn this hexa-lamp! Love it. But if this was my room and this changes the colors I would go mad lol. What do you have along the ghost shrimps? They usually go with a beta fish (unless they get killed lol). Not a game dev here (I am into python backend usually), but Godot seems interesting. By the way as a dev and youtuber, I also hit the youtube burnout and take time away from videos. So I can relate here.

Love following this game. I heard a statistic the other day, was wondering if it was accurate. "Software Engineers code on average 100 lines of code per day, some days doing up to 1,000 lines, and some days only doing about 5 or 10." DevDuck, you do software development, what's your thought on this?
@geschichtenausjohanland2988 Жыл бұрын
I am not DevDuck, but with many years experience writing software to me the 100 lines sound about right. The 5 or 10 lines might be the final result of a lot of iteration whereas the 1000 lines might be some easy stuff. However measuring software in lines of code is somewhat questionable. Good code is oftentimes shorter. It might be possible 100 lines perform the same task as 1000 lines.
