My wife bought me this Coleman model 275 lantern for Christmas. Let's bring it back to life!

Your wife made a wonderful find for you. My husband has been looking for his birthday lantern for 30 plus years. He finally found his month and year in an 8 of 1960 220E. He rebuilt it back to almost new even replacing the globe with a period correct one. Hope yours brings you many years of good luck. Hey, there's someone in Milwaukee that is selling a 275 4/79 for $30, and it looks in very good shape with an intact globe. It is listed at Marketplace in case you're interested.

Mine has a bad check valve. Do you need the tool to replace it? I'm hoping I can use something else. Beautiful lantern by the way .

I have removed check valves without the check valve tool before, but you risk damaging the check valve. The tools are pretty cheap on eBay, and in my opinion, it's definitely worth having if you mess with lanterns often.
