I was thinking that maybe this is the norm in some other country? Otherwise, IDK. Weird. It makes a kind of sense though. Anybody that does work with their hands can damage their rings. So if you kept them in a box except for special occasions, you would avoid the damaging of them, the losing of them when taking them off to do dishes, etc.
