I remember Story 1, iirc a lot of commentors were saying that OP should forgive the daughter because she was "brainwashed" 🙄... But OP did make a update saying that he's not going to reach out to her because he doesn't want to open old wounds again... But, guess what people... the daughter actually discovered the story on reddit and commented apologizing, but the internet being undefeated, some people did some digging into her account and it turns out she's a cheater too and advocated for it in cheater subs 😂. She got called out so bad that she deleted her account 🤣

People attempt suicide and pseudo suicide (the attempt without intention of actually dying for “attention”) for lots of complicated reasons including (maybe in part or entirely) to manipulate the other. That she did it late at night and, apparently, cut her wrists deeply enough to need six hours of surgery makes me think she probably really was trying to die. Regardless, it’s not that unreasonable for him to be concerned for the sake of the children if nothing else. Even if she *was* acting with the exclusive purpose of manipulating him, she needs serious mental help and her death would just hurt the kids.

Maybe if she wouldn't have made the wife the victim from the get go and told him he should have let her get her jollies off any time she felt the calling... then encouraged him to take her back... Exactly. Plus, when OP's daughters hit 18, they'll disappear on their cheating mother, date/marry guys who complete opposites of OP (the first two, unfaithful to the oldest daughters, and the other two, abusive to the youngest daughters), have kids with those parasites, then, flee their toxic relationships/marriages, move to other states for a fresh start, take college courses and persue careers, to provide better lives for themselves and their one-parent households, and instead of ever finding new love, just like OP has, the girls will need to stay away from dating and potential new partners, concentrate on raising their kids, and creating stable home environments for them, as good single moms⚠️

It's just the law. If she had been the major earner and Op had whored around like that, HE would be the one getting spousal support, because it is not about emotions or fault, unless there is a prenup. And even with a prenup, when people have been married for that long without an updating or amendment, the original prenup details may be modified to not leave the one spouse destitute. Because if that spouse is destitute, who pays the bill? You got it, the government. That isn't going to happen.

Apparently it wasn’t that much of a fight once he made it clear he wanted custody 😅 Not to say that’s what happens in every case, as some father do just get screwed, but more often than not that isn’t the case. Finally after reading the phone he broke and he divorced the cheating 304 and the ungrateful daughter. And the gall for that little pos to call him dad and to ask for forgiveness. And the new wife sigh she doesn't grasp the concept of what he suffered to suggest reconciliation with the daughter and I agree 💯 with him in not having her in his life anymore. Story 2 this is how you manage infidelity and the self harming episode was just a desperate attempt for her to draw attention to see if he would forgive her Pathetic

If she had just swallowed pills, as women who attempt suicide are statistically more presdisposed to do, then yes I would agree it was likely for attention. Men typically go for the ole gun barrel solution so its more final. Slitting your wrists is really not a plea for attention, if she cut properly. Which it sounds like she did by the description he gave. She really did want to end herself. The listlessness following her waking up could, in part, be her being upset she survived. Another possibility is the anesthesia since in some people it leaves you in a fog for a few days. It could be both. It's difficult to judge from what little information he provides.

Don’t let them back into your life, they will just betray you again. You are happy, stay happy S2: the marriage counselor needs to be fired. Why do they always say it’s the husbands fault? If he’s unhappy it’s his fault, if the wife is unhappy it’s also your fault. Who wants to bet the counselor is in an Open/Poly relationship or into the lifestyle? Also of course the ex decided to off herself, simpathy points. It’s all about her, and if it can’t be about her or she can’t get her old life back, then she’ll make everyone as miserable as her bc misery loves company.

Story 1 is quite "something"... Given how OP's daughter started to turn hostile 9 years before the divorce already, and 5 years before the 1 "known" affair started, there's probably more to it than what is known to the OP. The instances when OP inheritted from passed-away relatives, and his ex's behaviour in those cases, also points to that. He did whatever he could to be a good husband and father, only to be his "family's" laughing stock for years. Now, to his daughter's credit, she "atleast" realized how hard she had fcked up when OP had found out about the affair, even before being cut off by her back-then friends; that doesn't absolve her form having known and covered the whole thing for years, and quite obviously being totally fine with that situation. Her attempt to atleast financially compensate OP eventhough she herself lives in precarious circumstances now indeed shows remorse (she's not exactly in a situation that'd make it easy to save up 20k, let alone allow to give such a sum away). Wether OP has it in him - or not - to forgive is something only he can ever know; if he still cares for his daughter, he should reconnect for his own sake - it'd eat him alive otherwise. If he doesn't - she did that to herself, and is old enough to bear the consequences of her own actions. As for the "build bridges to the ex-wife" as OP's wife suggests: No. That woman did her "best" to utterly destroy and ruin him. And, unlike their daughter, she can't even put the blame for her actions onto her toxic mother who would've alienated her from OP. p.s.: I genuinly don't understand "why" OP was sentenced to pay ANY "spousal support". While there is usually no "principle of guilt" in divorce proceeding any more nowadays, there's still the tenet of "gross injustice" that absolves a cheated-on spouse from any obligations in regards of alimony.
@gideonroos1188
@gideonroos1188 2 ай бұрын
I don't get why the principle of guilt, 'at fault', has been done away with in so many places. If you're the one who breaks the vows of your marriage, you damn well are the guilty party in causing the break-up of the marriage and should suffer the consequences for it.
@gehtdichnixan8561
@gehtdichnixan8561 2 ай бұрын
@@gideonroos1188 Well, it came with a number of implications: 1. It was the sole reason "why" a marriage could be absolved. Spouses could outright hate each other, as long as there was no cheating, a marriage would stay "intact", with no way out. This would've been a direct consequence of the ten commandments, namely No.6. 2. It affected every single aspect of the shared life: In other words, a cheater would lose a) alimony, b) pension adjustment, c) any right on shared assets (even if the spouse didn't even spend a cent on it, as long as something was purchased during the marriage, it would've been gone), and d) last but definitely not least: custody. A cheater could never obtain custody - even if the spouse was the most-abusive prick on the planet, beating the kids black and blue daily: cheated on? Sole "guardian". (Now, this is how the "principle of guilt" worked in "my" place (i'm german) when it was still applied (it got abolished sometime in the 1970's). Can't tell whether it's exact ramifications were different elsewhere.)

It didn't help that he nearly ended the guy and the cheating wife somehow made things worse when she tried to support her husband that she betrayed. Thankfully, he got out early, the cheater's brother worked at the prison to help protect him, and he then started a relationship with the AP's wife. All while the cheater is still facing life, nearly alone. But still it seemed unfair that he got sent to punished when the other guy shouldn't have been messing with a married woman while he was married with a kid on the way.

If it was reverse that a husband is house husband and wife works. It's the same result if one of the spouse cheats and the worse kids will hate their parent for the rest of their life. The marriage counselor should be revoked i bet she had 4 failed marriage. 1st husband divorced he fell out of love for her. 2nd husband cheated on her and left her. 3rd husband ghost her with a note telling her she was toxic and narcissist he's done with her. 4th husband kicked her out of his home letting her know that she's too much of a blame shifter

Heard this one before. The new wife should stay in her lane, unless she wants to be the next ex wife. The daughter is a lost cause and OP should have taken her money, then ghosted her. Give the brat a taste of her own medicine.

I mean, he does have a point, is it that wrong to be satisfied that karma has been served ? I mean, "his child" is more of a term in such a situation, such level of betrayal and enabling her mother behavior made her akin to a stranger, she is more of someone sharing the same DNA now, I wouldn't put past him seeing the situation now as being just the sperm donor to such a monster. And according to other commenters here, his "daughter" found the post and tried to apology in it, the irony is, the users did some digging and found out that she was an active cheater, there is no redemption here.

Story 1: I'd be willing to try and rebuild a relationship with the daughter. Not saying I'd forget what happened, but I'd be willing to at least try to see if she's truly changed. The daughter had been cruel to OP for most of her life. It's clear that the ex and in-laws pretty much brainwashed her from the beginning to be who she was. Having most of a decade of being disowned and shunned by pretty much everyone, friends and family, in your life can have a profound impact on you. If she has had any kind of therapy in that time, hopefully she's gotten a better picture of who she really is and who she ultimately wants to be. She's probably 25/26 by the end of the post so, I'd want to at least give her a final chance to see if she's changed before throwing her away forever.

@@naszatadon’t waste your time. People are either extremely on one side or the other. When it’s the guy that’s being a pos all of sudden it’s all men, when it’s a woman all of a sudden it’s all women. People fail to realize that we are people, some with overlapping characteristics regardless of gender. It’s tiring seeing ppl trying to force one thing or another solely on one gender. 😮‍💨🤦🏾‍♀️ We all are humans and as humans we are flawed.

I kno this will get buried but wake up people. 1st op Your telling me that your daughter hates you for no reason all the way from birth and everyone in your life just made you miserable out of nowhere then magically in the end everything worked itself out for you? You sometimes found where the boyfriends mom stayed and somehow got all the information out of him.. this jus sounds like the typical “victim victim victim” story I like these but this one’s a little to fake for me

1st story, while I do think cheating is unforgivable, I can't help but feel bad for the daughter. She was just a kid, and it sounds like her mother was manipulating her. The whole thing with her grandmother, too, just sounds weird. I think that's called parental alienation, but that's only a possibility.

First story: I can thoroughly understand OP’s anger towards the jack@$$ who destroyed the marriage, but I have to say, going back on his word and springing the news to the jack@$$’s mother was a d**k move to end all d**k moves. The woman was in her 60’s and had health problems, and this act of pettiness probably drove her into a casket. Getting the guy fired and shamed was understandable , but dragging family that wasn’t part of it in was not a good thing to do.
